Patches coughing, Lucy needs surgery
Patches has occasionally been coughing for about a week. I had noticed it a few times a day, now I do not notice it at all during the day but am woken up by it about once per night. It sounds like a hairball but nothing comes up (and when she gets hairballs she vomits, has never coughed before). Other than that she seems fine. I have been doing research and see that coughing at night could be from heart disease, and I think my new vet said she detected a heart murmer. I am thinking about getting her checked. I hate to over-intervene with my positives though, due to stress factor if it turns out nothing is wrong. Have any of your cats had this symptom before and had it be nothing? Lucy's bladder stone is bigger rather than smaller from the month on S/D and so is getting it removed surgically on Monday. Please pray for her and send her good thoughts to get through the surgery easily and not get sick afterwards, as she is positive too. Thanks, Michelle
Re: Thanks, need help !
Lynne, I was just sending a LONG e-mail my PC crashed!! Da_n!! I got out all my books did lots of research It's late, I PROMISE to reply tomorrow. One thing, definitely FINISH the antibiotics!! Also, has there been a definitive diagnosis of cancer? Or can lymph nodes be swollen from severe infection??? As far as the arsenicum album, I use the 3X regiment...will explain. Won'et hurt to give w/ the silica and Slippery Elm. Also, write to Felv-list asking for Liver Shakerecipe and info. on Interferon, a GREAT drug for Felv+ cats. Transfer Factor is good also. And, if you can not get Interferon (Very hard to obtain in US), Immuno-Reglan is great, available thru RevivalHealth.com Try doing liguid diet before switching to raw food diet.. Also, try to get AD from allopathic vet, along w/ Nutrical. Baby food meats (NO ONION) are also very palatible for cats. SWwtch to Spring Water Only (Distilled water removes essential minerals) Here's recipe for Slippery Elm Syrup: In a small saucepan add 1/2 cup COLD water one tspn. slippery elm powder. Whisk.Simmer, stirring constantly, til thickened. Cool refrigerate, (Will keep 7-8 days) Anitra's Recipes: High Calcium Chicken Broth 2-3 bs. chicken thighs 1 lb. chicken necks backs water to cover 1/4 Cup Tomato Juice Put all chicken into pot to fill halfway, cover w/ enough water to bring it about 2-3 inches above chicken.Cover pot loosely, simmer 3-5 hours.(May have to break up chicken add water as needed. Last hour, remove cover so almost ALL water cooks down Pour off broth, cool at room temp. refrigerate. Meranwhile, pour cold water over chicken left in pot. Let it cool, then SQUEEZE KNEAD the chicken to get all the good stuff out of the meat. The water will begin to look milky, this is the calcium. Finally, wring all liquid out of the chicken. LEAVE BONESALL CHICKEN save liquid. Once cooled, add to other chicken broth. Next, put bones in smaller pot, crack them up, cover w/ter add 1/4 cup tomato juice. Simmer 30-60 minutes. Combine w/ other broth, divide into 2 cup portions freeze what you won't be using right away. I know, it sounds like a lot of work, but my "sick" guys LOVE it!! My PC is trying to crash again, I will "overwhelm" you, I HOPE NOT, w/ more info. tom'w.. Hugs to Frodo, Fondly, Patti PS Write me off list so I don't "clog" up the board w/ ALL my info. But, PLEASE USE the list for info. from other members.. Remember, ask for "Liver Shake Recipe" info on Interferon!!

RE: Should I spay Ginger?
Hi, My Ginger is almost one year and a half now and I waited to spay her as she was extremely weak and underweight -but she recently became in heat and I felt so bad that she needed to go through it - I know it's stressful to go through heat process, but I did not want her to go through surgery because it will stressful as well -...she really does not want to eat anything right now which happens once a while.. but I am not sure if so because she is in heat any suggestions as to what I should do for Ginger is very appreciated.. she is my dearest baby...thank you!
RE: Patches coughing, Lucy needs surgery
Before and after the surgery, give her homeopathic remedy called phosphorus its supposed to help to go through the anesthesia --- I usually melt a few pallets in the syringe with water and shoot it in their mouth no food 15 min before or after giving any homeopathic remedy..no worry of any side effects at all. I don't have the faith in it that Sally does, but when I talked to her last about Lucy possibly needing surgery, she suggested giving her Transfer Factor before hand. Do you have any in the house? You could just pick up some colostrum at the health food store. I don't know Michelle, it's all so stressful! I'm so sorry you didn't get the Interferon, I wish I had just sent it to you, I'm sorry. I'm praying for a safe and successful outcome, you pray too. Nina [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I did put Lucy on Lysine and CoQ10 to try to boost her immune system prior to surgery, and am giving her interferon alpha every day. Does anyone know if this is problematic in any way? I know there are certain things you are not supposed to give prior to surgery, like echinacea. I am assuming the three I have her on are ok, but maybe I should check with the vet...
Re: Should I spay Ginger?
Well I certainly wouldn't spay her while she's in heat, or when she's not eating. It may be that she's eating less because she's in heat, they get so focused with the hormonal surges and need to find a mate. How is she otherwise? Is she strong and healthy now? It's so stressful having them go through surgery. I had all my felv kitties spayed before I knew they were positive, otherwise I'd have been biting my fingernails too. And you've had that horrible experience with a perfectly healthy kitty passing after surgery. I think my bottom line is that I can't sanction having intact animals under my protection. If they cross my door, they don't go back out intact. RE: Should I spay Ginger?
I guess my bottom line is ...I want what's best for Ginger - and I don't know what it is - I guess no one will really know for sure, will they. I never thought of neutering George because of his liver problem and because of his weakness at that time, and I knew that I made a right decision not make him go through a surgery, because it was a right thing to do.. and it was not a right thing to do for George at that time.. Ginger looks healthy and she is so beautiful.. but I also know that she can be very fragile and just don't know what the best thing for her I don't want to risk anything if I could avoid and I don't know what it means. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Nina Sent: Thursday, October 20, 2005 1:03 PM To: felvtalk@felineleukemia.org Subject: Re: Should I spay Ginger? Re: Should I spay Ginger?
Hideyo, PLEASE. Instead of feeling guilty, give yourself a big pat on the back for ALL you do for your animals I find you amazing, really. Right now, I only have 9 cats, (5 own, 4 fosters that'll prob. end up here permanently..LOL!). and 4 dogs and I am on SSDI, so not working, and I get overwhelmed at times!! You are an amazing, loving, compassionate person ~ don't ever doubt that, and, once again, do NOT feel guilty. Your heart is s BIG!!! You're a person to admire. You WILL make the "right" decision.. Re: Lulu and her Immuno-Regulin Therapy
Hi Julie Thanks for your nice email.I live in California and most everything is super regulated here. Someone sent me a link for buying syringes on the internet so think I will persue that. I sure hope that my experience with Immune-Regulin will be of help to others. Tonight I'll post the article on m-Reg that the vet gave to methough it is incomplete it is quite interesting. It's typically the state you are in that governs whether or not you can obtain syringes without a prescription. I hope you'll stay on the list! Best to you and Lulu (it way my nickname as a child!)
