(his sibkits in GA hadn't been eating, either) he was wandering all over the house, getting up onto the furniture, seeming to start to settle in after what had to have been a very confusing couple of weeks. on friday, he finally let me take pictures of him, and he spent about three hours up on the bed with me, snuggling and cuddling and purring. last evening i found him, curled up peacefully under my bed, having journeyed on to the bridge. didn't look as if he'd suffered, just maybe that his little body had given out. only a week--i'd so hoped to have more time with him; i'd wanted him to have to chance to grow his beautiful coat out once more so he didn't have to be afraid to look in a mirror; i'd wanted him to tell me some of his secrets and his dreams. i just hope he knew that he was safe and welcome and loved here--i think that he did. fare thee well, sweet bob. join the rest of the tenhousecats bridge clowder, and fly free. OT:need input: weakness in front legs
Hi, I wanted to ask if anyone knows anything about the cause of weakness of front legs - it happened rather acute -like, his front leg ankle cannot seem to bend outward, and it does inward - therefore, he cannot sit up and has to lay on the side way all the time.. but he is very alert, and not in pain.. he does have feeling on all legs (not paralyzed or anything) - and his hid legs seem to be fine.. the vet and I area not sure what to make out of it - we ruled out FIP - any idea? Any insight is appreciated.
Re: OT:need input: weakness in front legs
Hideyo, I'm not familiar with that - my only thought was to check the gums and see if he seems anemic... No he is not -- all the blood work came back pretty normal -- I know it's a neurological problem, but don't know what's causing it. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of G. Tad and Marie, I'm so sorry to read about your little Luvy. take care, tonya Tad Burnett [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: On Feb. 8, 2007 Luvy lost her short life to FeLV... She was just 7 months old.. When she was about one week old she and her brother were brought into the shelter with no mother.. I suppose she may have died from FeLV soon after giving new life... A king rescue person bottle fed them and they were healthy playful 8 week old kittens ready for adoption and then they tested pos... At 12 weeks old they came to live with me... I don't know if they had been free to run around the house all the time before but they seemed to enjoy it as much or more than any kittens I have known before... The boy was neutered before leaving the shelter but I talked them into waiting and let me do it here later after the stress of moving was over... I took her in at 6 months and she seemed a little slow in getting back to normal but 2 weeks later when we went in to have stitches out she seemed fully recovered... I let the vet give both of them rabies shots at that time... The boy was fine but she stopped eating on her own but took assist feeding OK.. A couple days later she was having labored breathing and we took her back to the vet... X-ray showed fluid in the lung cavity and the vet could see cancer cells in the fluid,,, We agreed she wasn't suffering but just fading and we brought her home to finish her life... With a little assistance she went to her same favorite places and purred when on my chest with her nose touching mine.. On Wed. night she refused to take any food and we knew the end was near.. Early thur. morning she was still alive and snuggled at my feet with 3 other big cats but a couple hours later she had passed on... Her time with us seemed so very short but she was such a little luv bug that she will remain in our memories for ever... We will miss you little Luvy... Tad and Marie
Midnight still peeing
Ok, Midnight has been fixed and is done with his antibiotics for the UTI. He is still peeing but only on my 5 year old comforter. My son is in pull ups at night. Is it possible that he is trying to mark over the scent of my son? That is the only thing I can think of. I am keeping the door closed and not letting midnight in that room. Thanks in advance! Jennifer

Hmm - possible he's still smelling the pee on the comforter. Might try something to deorderize it, and try Cat Attract cat litter in the litter box. Lucy and Michelle
I am forwarding any post reagrding Lucy to Michelle. I have not heard from her in several days. I don't want to think about when it may be Junior's turn. He is only 4 and has several problems now. Not that I think he minds, but it bothers me. The eye thing has not resolved itself. He will just have really poor sight out of his good eye. The ears are something else. Has anyone had problems with ears in a FeLV cat. The lobes are swollen and thick and fell thicker everyday. He sometime will paw or scratch but it doesn't seem to bother him, I worry about an ear infection, but there is no discahrge or bad smell. I think sometimes at night just behind the ears feels swollen, but I don't know what it would be. anyone experience this? He actually acts like he feels pretty good. I do wprry of course about everything. Sally Davis --

I have a little 4-cat feral colony I have fed daily for a year -- we've had pretty bad weather lately and I've put mounds of food out -- and haven't seen Buddy and Sissy, two little longhaired tabby littermates in over a week. Hoped that they were just coming and eating when they were hungry since there was so much food - and not coming around waiting for me to get there at my usual time. Sat. I called and called - it was a nice day, warmer and sunny, and I'd left only a small amt. of food Friday hoping they'd show up Sat. A man who lives next to where I feed them came out and told me that one of the tabbies had been hit by a car and died in his yard. From his description I think it was Buddy. I am devastated. Buddy had evolved from a totally feral little boy to a friendly fella who met me in the Backyard Burger (where the feeding station is) parking lot when he heard my car. I could pet him, even rub his tummy. If I sat still I could ease him into my lap. His sister still wouldn't let me touch her but has been getting better. I planned to relocate both Buddy and Sis to my back yard as soon as I could touch Sissy.Separating them wasn't an option. Sissy was Buddy's little shadow - she depended on him so.I didn't try to trap her since she was coming around and I figured in a month or two more I would be able to pet her. Now I am kicking myself for not relocating them sooner. I have a friend who feeds for me on Sunday and she saw Sissy -- or at least she thinks it was Sissy and not Buddy. I almost think it would be better if it were Sissy to have died because Buddy is so much more independent and open to human touch. Please add my little Buddy Bear to the CLS. He was neutered, vaccinated and negative for felv/FIV. And about 2 years old. This morning I left my little miracle man, Leader, all wrapped up in my sweatshirt on the bed - and, I think, dying. He was born with feleuk - his whole litter tested and retested positive. All his littermates died at or before about age two -- including Gloria's Mittens -- but Leader has lived to be just 2 months short of SIX years. He has been doing fine -- skinny, looking like death warmed over -- but fine until he recently got an awful URI. I've treated him with immunoregulin, Baytril, Tylosin, Naxcel, fluids. Up until last night he was eating well altho weak. This morning he wouldn't eat. Please put him on the Special Needs List and please, all, pray that he beat this URI.Thanks. Re: Midnight still peeing
As others have said, he may still have a UTI. He may not have gotten enough or the right antibiotics the first time. My last uti cat started out on amoxicillin, had another urinalysis, still had bacteria. Went on something else (don't remember what), another urinalysis, still had bacteria. Sent a culture out for further analysis, nothing grew. We decided it was probably behavioral at that point, he's on elavil now, really hoping it works. *This does not always happen, I think this kitty is upset because I do rescue and have lots of cats in the house. But, sometimes they need more antibiotics after the first round. On 2/14/07, Jennifer Madon [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Ok, Midnight has been fixed and is done with his antibiotics for the UTI.
