[Felvtalk] When to start treatment?

2012-02-19 Thread Vicky Eyal
I was just wondering when the best time to start treatment for FeLV is? While
the cat is still healthy or best to wait until he/she is visibly sick? Also,
which of the treatments mentioned on the site would you recommend? I am leaning
towards Interferon, just because there seems to be more anecdotal evidence
around for that - thoughts? Are your cats on multi-vitimins or anything to
boost/support the immune system?

Thanks so much,

Hi
I appreciate all the info on FELV this group provides. I research treatments
suggested and look for a variety of reliable sources to help me care for our
cat, who is presently thriving despite 2 positive tests. The recent postings
regarding black salve and Deva Khalsa gave me some concern. The links below,
and others, raise issues about this product and the products promoted by this
person. Just FYI.

Vicky,

I would start your kitty on a healthy diet if she is for sure FeLV positive. I
hope that you confirmed the first test with an IFA test, just to be sure. How
old is the cat?

I know there are members of this group, other than myself, that are more
familiar with the diet and meds that you should consider using. Give them a
little time to chime in.

Good luck to you and your sweet kitty!

Hi there,
I like to use b complex vitamins for any sort of stress or illness. Cats lose b
vitamins during times of stress and illness. It definitely can boost appetite
and thirst if you ever have a problem with any of that. I will send a link to a
b complex page that has all products u can use for your kitty. B complex is
just a simple easy to find product that definitely helps.

Take care
Marcia

I have my doubts about this black salve too. If it is that much of
a miracle salve vets would surely be using it. I fear this is just
another quack making money on desperate people who want to save their
pets. Human cancer victims fall for these things all the time, and
it is unbelievably cruel to take money from people and give them
false hope.

Don't forget, even if the IFA is negative, it only means that it's not in
the bone marrow yet..I have had recent personal experience with that.

painful (this one is NOT, Pat added lidocaine to it). I have used the tonic
on a cat, and am using it myself prophylactically. Please do not be fooled
by the fakes that are advertised. Many people have been using it (it's
meant for people), and have proven to their vets that it works. But, again,
to each his own. I'm not trying to sell anyone on it, only offer to help
because I know that it does. Unfortunately, there are many miracles out
there, but because of quacks, many are discounted. BTW, this is not info
about the salve from the group that I joined! There are pictures posted of
cancer in a horse's eyelid, progress, and it only attacks cancerous cells.
 Didn't even hurt the eye.

From what I have been reading, physicians do use a form of this, bloodroot
mixed with zinc oxide. The zinc oxide is what is so corrosive, The original
remedy has been around for centuries. I'm definitely all for alternative and
natural medicine. If you watch tv at all, you already know what side effects
and dangers are out there from FDA APPROVED drugs!

Hi,Black salve (Neoplasene) isn't quackery. However it must be used with
caution on a cat. I would strongly encourage anyone wishing to use it to join

It is a group with valuable information and very supportive.El
