Re: [Felvtalk] Cat in Ohio needs home
Note that one can transition kits to the much healthier wet food (and then healthy wet food, as opposed to Friskies, which is great for getting cats to eat anything) by adding in a little of the desired stuff at a time while subtracting the old stuff. Cats are instinctually fussy about food for a good evolutionary reason. You can also putting really smelly bonito flakes or tuna water on things they may otherwise not eat. I also use freeze-dried liver or salmon or chicken or beef (from save sources, not China), because it smells so strong. The nose is the gateway to a cat's stomach. Is there a way the vet can detect these possible lesions mentioned by digegg? The other Kathryn (call me Kathy). On Sat, Dec 1, 2012 at 7:31 PM, Kathryn Green katsk...@gmail.com wrote: THANK YOU! Maybe clogged anal sacs? I know this happens most often to dogs but my dad's cat Jerry used to get it also and it caused him to smell bad and walk weird until the vet expressed them. I really would not use any fragrances around cats or even around dogs. One holiday, I boiled some cinnamon on the stove to make the house smell like gingerbread. Several of my cats began to sneeze and one began to have watery eyes. If you want fragrances, keep them away form the rooms where the cats stay. I don't buy scented cat litter either. [Felvtalk] Suggestion for Cat (or foot) Warmers
Taking off on your idea for cat beds: My mom used to make little rice bags. They are about 12x10 but I think you could make other sizes. Create a bag, fill it with rice, leave room so it is squishy rather than firm, sew up the corner. You can put a cover on or not. Then, on a cold night, microwave the bag (3-4 mins depending upon your microwave oven) and you have a thing that stays nice and warm for hours. We use them for our feet on a cold night. My aunt used to put them out for her feral yard cat, in a box, to keep the kitty warm. She said the cat used to wait for them by the door on a cold night.
