2013-08-12 Thread Marci Greer

 Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for all your thoughts! Charles is slowly improving, his
breathing is a lot better, he is still slow walking and moving around, I
would say that is
expected. We will do more x-rays when the fluid is hopefully gone to see more,
and blood work. Does anyone have any idea how long the fluid should take to
get out? I
guess it would depend on how much fluid there is? It is hard to see him so
slow and grouchy! But on a positive note, when I was making his food to hide
his pill in, he was rubbing on me, he was also trying to get in the
refrigerator! Ha! Thanks again everyone so much!

Thanks
Marci, Allyn Charles

 Hi Everyone,

My kitty Charles (felv positive) has not been feeling to well, 2 days now
almost everytime he eats he throws some of it up he is laying around a lot
too, it appears his lymph nodes(in this neck) are swollen as well. Its about
9:20 a.m. this morning, my vet has an opening at 11:00 this morning to take
him. We have had him since November of 2011, he has not had any issues other
than a cold. I am just going crazy with worry now. His gums are a normal pink
color and his appetite is great as usual. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks

Hi everyone,We took Charles (felv+) to the vet this morning and they did an
xray of his chest, their is a lot of fluid in his chest cavity, she said it
could possibly be a tumor. She gave him a shot of cortisone and a shot of
Lasix, sent us home with Lasix pills as well. I am hoping that the Lasix gets
rid of all of the fluid and hopefully we can by some time if it is a tumor. If
anyone has any advise or thoughtsI don't wantto loose one of our babies.

2011-11-18 Thread Marci Greer

Hi Everyone,

We have a FELv + kitty Maddie who was diagnosed over 3 yrs ago and is doing
wonderfully, We just took another stray kitty named Charles to the vet on
Monday, before they did the combo test my husband said, no matter what the test
comes back we ARE NOT putting him to sleep, the vet came back in and he did
test a weak positive for FELv, if my husband would have not said what he did
I'm sure they would have started with putting him to sleep right then (the same
as they did with Maddie) , they did go ahead and neuter him and we brought him
home and he is doing very well (asymptomatic) and is rooming with our Maddie. I
talked to the vet regarding FELv because I can't understand why the first
option is always putting them to sleep, it makes me crazy thinking about how
many cats are put to sleep and don't deserve to be, The vet said that FELv +
cats will die a slow and painful death, I said ok well what about the ones that
test false positive or the ones that test positive and are able to throw the
virus off, he said he has never heard of that happen, I guess what I am getting
at is there any way to reverse what these vets are taught in college. I know
I'm grasping but I just hate this so much for these cats that can lead a
healthy life and aren't even given the chance!

Fernanda,

I applaud you for taking Little Tommy. I have a FELV+ kitty named Maddie,
she was diagnosed positive by both the Elisa test and the IFa test in 2008, I
tried the interferon for her late 2008 and a little into 2009, Maddie did not
do well with that at all, my vet wanted me to use it 7 days on and 7 days off
and the 7 days she was on were awful, she was very lethargic, did not want to
play or eat, so we quit giving it to her. We started giving her the Mega C
plus by Wendell Belfield mid 2009 and she has done wonderful with that. She
has gained about 6 pounds and runs and plays. We have not tried anything else
for her, other than good food, no stress and giving her lots of love. Good
Luck with Tommy. Please keep us updated on him.

 Sara,

We bought the powder form of the Mega C Plus, we give her just a pinch in
her canned food every couple of days. Before I started her on it my vet warned
me to start out giving her just a tiny pinch, that sometimes too much can give
them diarrhea or mess with their kidneys. I worked up to a pinch (half of a
teaspoon) and she does fine with that. Hope this helps :)

 Hi All,

I've had my Maddie Felv+ since October of last year, the vet said she was about
2 yrs old. We had her on interferon since November and stopped giving it to her
last month. ( I know thats awful :( We stopped giving it to her because it
made her so tired, grumpy, and she would not eat hardly at all the 7 days on.
When we skipped 2 weeks she became a completely different cat having a better
appetite, and playing nonstop. Have any of you had similiar experiences? I
feel terrible not giving it to her but I hate seeing her so lethargic and not
eating when she's on it. Any suggestions? Thanks~~ Marci

Hi All,

I have a FELV+ kitty, Maddie 3 yrs old who came as a stray to us in October
2008, she is strictly indoors now, she is on interferon, and she is eating
well, gaining weight, playing, lovable, etc. She has not been spayed, My vet
who wanted to put her to sleep in October just because she was positive, which
of course I did not do, told me not to have her spayed it could stress her and
she would die, another vet told me to have her spayed. I don't know what to
do, looking at her you would never even know that she was sick. Any advice? I
love her so much and I don't want to do anything that may harm her.
