Re: Grace update
Nina, I hope Grace continues to improve. I know how it feels to be so overwhelmed with animals! Just take it one day at a time. Hopefully the holistic vet will be helpful. I took my first positive, CC, to a holistic vet when she was sick the first time and it was very helpful. Take care of yourself. Let the house go a bit... but not enough that we see you on the evening news! ha. tonya --- Nina [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I'm sorry I haven't been able to keep up with the list. Looking at the state of my house, you'd assume I was sitting on my butt eating bon bons and watching TV. Grace's vet visit yesterday went really well, at least as far as the trauma involved. She was such a good girl! My Internist gave her a thorough physical exam, and except for the fact that she's lost 2 lbs and her eyes were unevenly dilated, she said she looks really good, (her breathing is fine, no swollen lymph nodes, etc.). She couldn't tell if Grace still has a heart murmur, because she was purring too loud to hear her heart properly! What an angel my Gracie is. The Internist said we could do blood work, but unless there's a problem with one of her organs, which neither one of us thinks there is, it wouldn't show anything conclusive. She suggested putting her on Baytril, sent me home with subq fluids, (even though she's not dehydrated), and Dex shots, (just in case). She also gave me some samples of novel protein dry foods for Grace to try, (she's not eating and she's always liked dry food, so what the heck). I'm trying to finish up the questionnaire from the holistic practitioner, so we can get started on that. Grace did eat a bit last night and seems to have a renewed desire to fight. I feel more hopeful this morning. I just gave her her first dose of Baytril, syringed some babyfood, colostrum and Nutrical down her, (not enough, the darn syringe stuck and I put too much pressure on it so it exploded food all over my hand), and put some transdermal Cypro on her ear. I think her belly is bothering her, so I may try a 1/4 Pepcid later. Love and prayers to all those in trouble, and those of you who aren't as well! Nina
Re: Grace update
Thanks Tonya, Grace isn't doing very well. She's perked up, as far as being in her body more, but she won't eat and I just can't force any more food down her, it's just too stressful. I thought about a feeding tube, but my sweet little Grace has been fighting off and on, for her whole life. I don't know, I just don't think it's the right thing to do. Of course, watching her starve to death doesn't feel right either! I keep expecting her to snap out of it somehow and come back to health. I'm praying for a miracle. My Internist sent me home with very little to do. I have to put my faith in something, so I'm putting it in her, (praying that she wants to stay), and in holistic remedies. The person I'm using for holistic advice isn't a vet. I have appointments with two holistic vet practitioner, but they were so busy, I couldn't get in until the end of the month with one and the second week of Oct with the other. I'm on a cancellation list with both of them, but... Anyway, thank you and thank everyone on the list that's pulling for my Gracie and me. Re: Grace Update IA for mouth problems
I was cleaning out old emails and saw one from Nina with a question I never answered. I did not try Interferon alpha for Ginger's mouth problems, and she has never been on it. I did give her the interferon omega before her dental surgery. To my knowledge her mouth is ok now. Grace Update IA for mouth problems
Hi guys, Thank you so much for the prayers and good wishes for Grace. She's feeling better today and I'm guardedly optimistic. I've got her on Interferon A and Transfer Factor (animal stress formula). I just ordered some feline complete TF, I'll let you know what I think. I don't know what's been ailing my crew lately. Speaking of the Interferon A... Has anyone used that for gingivitis flare ups, or stomatitis? If the oral is better at targeting the upper respiratory system because it's absorbed through the mouth, then it would seem that it would help control problems in the mouth. Barbara Baas, are you reading? Are you currently using Interferon A for Samson? Belinda, do you use IA with Bailey? Michelle, how about you and Ginger? Are you people using it periodically for flare ups, or are you using the 7 day pulse protocol? I'm thinking of saving it for when Grace has flare ups. She usually has problems with her gums right before she comes down with something. Maybe it will not only help her mouth, but help build her immunities to ward off whatever might be developing. Thanks again everyone for your concern, Nina
Re: Grace Update IA for mouth problems
Here's a good germ killing mouth rinse for using for gum flare ups when infection is a concern: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=2996N=2002+22759 It's a chlorhexidine solution. Might be good in addition to the Interferon (butdon't give themat the same time, cause this may wash away the Interferon or kill it's active ingredients) Jennhttp://ucat.ushttp://ucat.us/domesticcatlinks.html ~~~I collect KMR kitten formula labels for Bazil, a 3 yr old special needs cat who must live on a liquid diet for the rest of his life.Bazil's caretaker collects labels and sends them to KMR, where they add up until she earns a free can of formula!PLEASE save your KMR kitten formula labels for Bazil!
