Re: [Felvtalk] Info on probiotics and CoQ10
I get the GNC vegetarian brand Coenzyme Q10 because it comes in powder form in capsules. I get the 100 mg, half per cat per day in food. Each cat , FIV/FeLV and heart patients, get 50mg daily. I still haven't been able to find probiotics in powder form, and am still opening up capsules every day. I use any good ones available at either Whole Foods or health food stores. -Original Message- From: felvtalk-boun...@felineleukemia.org [mailto:felvtalk-boun...@felineleukemia.org] On Behalf Of Bonnie Hogue Sent: Tuesday, February 01, 2011 10:58 PM To: felvtalk@felineleukemia.org Subject: Re: [Felvtalk] Info on probiotics and CoQ10 Sharyl What form is the CoQ10 in? I'm curious how you give it to the cat...mix in food? Lucky has spit up the Lysine when I mixed it in his food before. Re: [Felvtalk] Info on probiotics and CoQ10
I get 30 mg capsules from Walgreen and mix it in some meat baby food. I pierce the capsule and squeeze the oil out since I am lousy at pilling cats. I use Now brand pure L-lysine powder. I tried capsules/caplets and didn't like the fillers used in them. I mix 1/4 tsp of the powder in a qt of water and use that in all the water bowls. I have a house full of feral rescues and use the water mixture as a maintenance dose for them. When they need more I mix 1/4 tsp in 1 tsp of warm water, stir to dissolve and mix into their canned food. You can get acidophilus probiotic capsules or a pet probiotic capsule. I use meat baby food (no onions or garlic) for most meds. Mine love their Gerber 2 Chicken and Gravy and don't mind the CoQ10 or probiotic mixed in it. If you can pill your cat you can always get empty gel caps and put the supplements in them.
