Wowie
Hi Everyone... I just wanted to thank everyone for all your help and kindness and tell you that Wowie passed yesterday morning. He declined very quickly and we had tried the pred shot but it didn't help this far along. I was home with him and he was in my arms when he passed away. I miss him so much. I still hear him meowing. I worry if I did the right things for him. I am so angry that whoever had him before never had him vaccinated or cared enough about him to neuter him or keep him as an indoor cat. But I can't dwell on it. It just makes me upset. Thank you EVERYONE so much for every bit of helpful information and guidance you have given. You have all been so wonderful. Hugs, Rebecca

Re: Wowie
Oh Honey, I'm so sorry! I know how much Wowie meant to you and how deeply he touched your life. Thank you so much for opening your heart to him. I can't stop thinking about how much he changed your lives. What a big personality that boy has! I'm sure the whole household is missing his physical presence. I hope that in time you'll be opening your heart and home to another worthy soul. Wowie is still around in spirit and he's probably scouting for just the right cat soul to send to you. You're a wonderful mom, Rebecca, and I'm so sorry for your loss. You have every right to be angry at the world at large for the injustices played upon the innocent, but all we can do is our very best to right the wrongs and make the most loving and best decisions for the angels placed in our path. You've done that and will continue to do so, bless you in your sorrow. Much love to you, Nina veggiepugs wrote: Hi Everyone... Rebecca, I am so sorry to hear about Wowie. I know how much you loved that little furball and he was SO lucky to have found you and been spoiled by you these past months. You were so enamored with him. It's a blessing to both of you that you were able to be with him when he passed on. I know you are hurting right now, but he is not anymore, and that's a good thing in a bittersweet way. Bless you for taking such wonderful care of him and for loving him. He will be eternally grateful to you for your love. Your sweet and humorous presence will be missed here. :) Wendy --- veggiepugs [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi Everyone... Re: Wowie
We had the same experience with prednisolene! The vet didn't think Mio would live through the night she had a 106.5 degree temp, she couldn't stand, she wasn't eating or drinking, but within 24 hours of the injection her temp was gone and she was interested in the world again and catnip (it took another day for food), but still the turn around was INCREDIBLE. I don't know if this is common, but in my experience, vets are very quick to give FeLV kitties a terrible prognosis when they are ill. It's true every time they get sick, it could be their time to go, but just as often they pull through again. I know it's hard, but don't give up hope, he's going to need your strength. Her PCV was down to 7% (anemia) when I got the diagnosis, and she was eight years old. She would not eat, drink, or move. Her bilirubin was high also. The vet was quite scared for her. He gave her a PREDNISOLONE injection and within 12 hours I had a completely different cat on my hands. A few years later, when she had another round with severe anemia, our new vet (we had moved) tried Depo-Medrol, and though three vets said it should do the same as prednisolone, it did NOT. It did not help any whatsoever. I have no idea why. I insisted on a prednisolone injection, and she is alive, healthy, and happy more than 2 years later at the age of almost 14 (not to say we haven't had some other issues, but only one major - a URI). But at the time, all the doctors thought she would not make it. I will let the others tell you about all the other drugs, etc. that can aid your kitty as they have more experience than I do with them. I forgot also that one time when Spaz had a minor bout with anemia, the new vet had just dispensed up pred. tablets. Personally, I would not go that route, especially with severe anemia. Need a strong injection to get jump-started, then pills for maintenance and weaning.
