Dear Michelle I know I replied already off-list, but again---please don't feel bad. It was because of you that I sought help for Levi on Tuesday night rather than wait till Wednesday. He would have suffered all night too ifI hadn't done that. That was when the exam showed he had painful mouth ulcers.I felt really bad then, as it seemd obvious that was why he couldn't/wouldn't eat. Thank you very much for your kind words, Julie. It meant a lot to get your email. I am sorry that Little Evie went through such suffering at the end. It is so unfair that these little creatures should have to end their lives in a such a way. It's hard to find any comfortall I can find is that, as with Little Evie, Levi was able tofeel my touch and hear my voice as he passed over. I was astonished and saddened by what you say about the way other groups behave (sounds like they're full of 'Ong Meo' types!). Kerry, I am so sorry for your lose. Any bit of pain that we cannot alleviate in our kitties, creates a lingering pain in us. We are not to blame. It still does linger for me with Leeloo. She went quickly, but the last painful breath was hard to see. Yet, she and Levi are at painless, peaceful rest now. It's just hard think about, and will be for some time. But Levi is completely free of those last trials of life. Your care of him and love for him was your lasting gift. Sending mywarmest thoughts to Levi and you. Dear Kerry, A difficult passing is one of the most hideous experiences in life. The hospice case nurse for my mother-in-law told me that she felt a difficult passing was the sign of a highly evolved soul; at the time it did not have a great deal of meaning to me, but in the time since I have thought about what she meant and feel that those who rage against passing have a passion that cannot be diminished. MyFeLV+ darling Little Evie developed FIP and was suffering and in terriblepain; still she struggledwith all her might even after we tranquilized her and I sat quietly with her for half an hour. It was one of the most horrible experiences I have ever had. When you say you are anguished, I know exactly what you mean; we all do. The decision is so hard, the impending loss almost unbearable and then against all odds, it gets worse. Levi's temperment sounds much like Little Evie and I know they've found each other and I know that someday, somehow we'll be reunited with them. Until then, know that the love that you and Levi shared has not ended and you will carry it in your heart always. Take care of yourself; I send you a big, warm hug. I know that Levi's watching over you with the same love and devotion that you showed him in his too brief life. Kerry, I am so sorry. I am also so sorry that I kept inisting there might be options for treating him, when he was obviously so far gone. I feel very bad about that now. I think that Simon's turnaround has made it hard for me to accept that anyone's time is definitely here unless they are in respiratory distress, and has made me hold out hope until that point. Which maybe is too much in a lot of cases. I am so sorry for what you have been through with Levi and that he had to go, and I am sorry that process was not peaceful. I have been sending thoughts to Levi, and now I will send them to you because it is now you who needs to heal, if healing is ever really possible in these situations. I am so very sorry. Michelle
