I don't think it's a matter of assuming computer users are gods of the backup. Rather the opposite. Either you're good at backups or you're not. If you are, then you'll be putting regular copies on an external drive either way. If you're not, well, whose computer is more likely to disappear without warning, the offsite storage service's, or your own? [Finale] Quits playing bass clef
FINALE 12 FOR MAC Just got 2012 downloaded and imported a simple arr. of a hymn from 2010 to give it a preliminary run. I have not read any of the docs on 2012 changes, nor do I have any familiarity with 2011. Those things being said, the problem I am having is that i have the String Section assigned to the accompaniment staves (#3 and #4) and about measure 11 Finale just quits playing the bass clef for the rest of the song. Each of the acc. staves is assigned to Full Strings arco but have independent MIDI channels assigned. and as I said, it starts out working fine. Then at meas. 12 the bass clef quits playing. I've seen many things but I'm stumped. If anyone can help, thx. Richard ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

If you expand the problematic instrument in the Score Manager, do you see an instrument change appearing in the expanded instrument? [Finale] Change bass clef articulation
G'day I'm arranging a piano version of the 50 year old Australian Christmas classic Six White Boomers. When i do the fingering, the metatool and/or articulation tool positions the right hand fingering nicely, but for the left hand, it puts the fingering above the notes, whereas I want it to be below. Can anyone tell me, please how to change things so that the left hand has the fingering underneath? Thanks for any help you can give. Re: [Finale] Quits playing bass clef
FINMAC 2012 Thank you, Jeri, but there is no staff style applied. I don't fully understand Score Manager yet so I didn't have any change from that either. I tried copying the problem area to my CLipboard and inserting it into a new document. Setup Wizard handled everything perfectly and the string passages played just fine. I was encouraged and prepared chalk it up to the conversion process of that file. So I captured the entire document from my clipboard and used insert to create anew. However it repeated the problem. Big sigh. So, would anyone with 2012 like to look at my file and see if you can find the problem? Re: [Finale] Change bass clef articulation
You have two ways to do this. If you don't have very many, just drag them below the staff. You can do this en masse in the Articulation Tool by dragging a box around all the handles in Scroll View and dragging them all at once. You can duplicate the articulations in question, changing the positioning to below the staff, and assign them to a different metatool. Re: [Finale] Quits playing bass clef
I looked at the file you sent me, and the problem is Human Playback in combination with Voice 2. After the Voice 2 appears, the staff drops dead on playback. (HP use for ornaments and stuff, perhaps that has something to do with the bug.) To fix it, either enter the 2 bars in question as layer 1+2 measures, or turn off HP. Make sure to report the bug to Makemusic. Best regards, Jari Williamsson On 2011-10-27 13:14, Richard Huggins wrote: FINMAC 2012 Thank you, Jeri, but there is no staff style applied. [Finale] Toccata font in FinMac2012
Hello List, No-one responded to my previous message about problems with Toccata font...the glyphs sourced by key combinations Shift-Option-[key] and Option-[key] are wrong. However, MakeMusic have confirmed it is a problem that they will look at fixing it in future updates. If you use third-party fonts you really need to examine their behaviour carefully; my problems surfaced when I was creating harp pedalling diagrams but potentially could affect other fonts and any existing file created in an earlier version and brought into Finale 2012. FinMac2011 is fine as far as i tested the issue. MakeMusic have been very helpful and offered the following workaround: -snip- For the time being, you can work around this problem by using inserts. Try the following: - While in the Expression Designer window, select the font you would like to use a symbol from - Text menu Inserts Symbol - Select the character you would like to insert and click 'Select' -snip- Stephen ars est longa, vita brevis Kiva: http://www.kiva.org - Make a Small Loan, Make a Big Difference Stephen Cronin's home page: http://www.stephen.cronin.name {real+imagined} http://www.real-imagined.com.au ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

He never bothered with remote backup and would not send DVD back ups to friends for safe keeping. I understand he lost YEARS of work. Yep. I backup to both an external drive (for speed and convenience) and a cloud storage service (for insurance). That way if my house burns down, there's still a copy of my stuff out there that I can access as soon as I buy a new computer. ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
