You could leave the whole page numbering business to the PDF creation proces. I do it all the time, and I always have multiple documents because I work a lot with musicals and stuff like that. Thank You! Of course! I would presume that an english score would use the term Let Ring, but Let Vibrate or laissez vibrez is understnadable! Thanks a lot! Regards Stig Den 25/10/2008 kl. 18.02 skrev Cecil Rigby: Hi Stig- The guitarist should play the melody in its notated rhythm, but letting each note continue sounding past its notated length. It's identical to engaging the sustain pedal on a piano and then playing a melody- all the notes override each other until the pedal is released, dampening the strings. Usually one will find a sign that looks similar to a coda sign (an oval with crosshairs) at the end of such passages, and that means the player should resume playing with normal technique. LV comes from the French, laissez vibrez. The technique is impossible to achieve on guitar for consecutive notes played on a single string, obviously, so the player has to distribute successive notes among other strings to achieve the effect. As Terry said, the fingers must be left in position on the strings after each note is played. When the number of strings or fingers runs out to keep that practice sustained over the course of the melody or indication it's logical (to me), knowing the intended effect, that the first note played would be the first dropped to play the next one before any other notes were dropped. -Cecil RIgby LIberty, SC From: Terry Muska I believe the intention of L.V. is to leave the left hand fingers in position ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale MUSICMIND Stig Christensen www.musicmind.dk [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hovmarksvej 24A 2920 Charlottenlund DENMARK +4526212425 ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

You have to uninstall the old mousedriver from the install/uninstall software section of the controlpanel and then install the old driver. venlig hilsen Stig Den 2/2-2005, kl. 3.18, skrev Richard Yates: Yes, you can scroll in Finale Windows, but not with the most recent Logitech driver (v. 9.79). I'm not sure why, but the new version broke scrolling in Finale, though not in other applications, as far as I can tell. I reverted to an older driver (9.73), and scrolling works fine. I downloaded 9.73 but when I try to install it it detects the newer version and refuses to proceed (actually the message box politely 'recommends' keeping the newer version and then closes the installer no matter what you do.) Any ideas on how to do this? Re: [Finale] Measure number zero
I know in my world, which is show-business, I have never seen bar number 0. Neither in classical music. I also think that a drummer playing from bar 0 to bar 7 in a jazz standard repertoire would be very surprised to find a section to begin on bar 8 and not on bar 9! regards Stig Den 1/12-2004, kl. 23.17, skrev [EMAIL PROTECTED]: At 7:19 PM -0500 11/30/04, dhbailey wrote: Now I understand -- why not just have the 2 regions? Sorry I can't offer you better help! :-( David The basic problem here seems to be a client who thinks it's logical to have a measure zero. It's no more logical than to have a page zero in a book, or a year zero in our calendar. The human mind doesn't work that way. Looks like anything you do to satify her will have to be a kludge. John In film music this happens quite often and Dan is right. It has to be the exact same way in all of the parts as it is in the score just as the composer has it. Time is so precious on a scoring stage and overtime is a bad thing...very expensive. So the fewer questions there are, the faster things go. Even something perceived as trivial as this by some can hang a session up. All the conductor would have to say is 4 Free (clix) to bar zero (or perhaps 3 Free for example if the zero bar is a pickup bar) and if there is no bar zero...well, then trying to tell 80 plus people what it should be Click tracks are generated in different ways by different composers too so whatever works for them is what is used...this translates to the page in different ways. Copying for Film music is a different animal than traditional engraving. Things aren't always done in a traditional way...sometimes it's more utilitarian. It has to be on the page in a very clear way, has to be accurate. These amazing session players are sight reading everything too. I still get blown away by them. So whatever the copyists can do to make it easy for the players to read, with as little confusion as possible, is what is best even if a few traditional engraving rules are broken from time to time. And if it makes sense to the composer and music editor...that is what is done :-) -K -- ___ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale ___ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

I suspect that Finale is using the rules that governed in the earliest days of the software, when DOS filenames could consist of only normal letters, digits, and a handful of special characters, of which $, , and _ werre three.
