In the print dialog, you can select individual parts or score to print using
checkboxes.

[Finale] Printing parts

2019-03-21 Thread Lawrence David Eden
Hi Listers,

I think I might have set up something wrong with regard to printing parts.
(FinaleMac 25)

I need some clarification: Should I be able to print a part from the “EDIT
PART” menu?

Do I use EXTRACT PARTS to isolate the part I want to print?

The problem that I am experiencing is that if I print a part from EDIT PARTS,
Finale prints the entire score instead of a single part. Is Finale behaving
normally?

Thanks!

Don’t select Edit Parts. You can print anything from anywhere in the document.
I don’t know why Finale is doing what you described, unless somehow your
Trumpet 2 part got named Tuba instead.

Hit cmd-P
A dialogue box will open. Hit Clear All and scroll to the tuba part and check
it.
Hit Okay.
Now you will be at the OS print dialogue, and all should be okay.

[Finale] PRINTING PARTS

2018-01-09 Thread Lawrence David Eden
FinaleMac 25. Mac mini running 10.13.2 (High Sierra)

Dear Listers,

Finale is displaying strange behavior that I don’t understand.

I automatically generate parts for my arrangement.
When I go to print, (I write for brass quintet and needed a copy of the tuba
part.) I select EDIT PARTS and select TUBA from the list. Finale25 opens the
Trumpet 2 part instead of tuba.

In my previous version of Finale (2k11) that is all I needed to do to print
parts. Go to EDIT PARTS and select the part I wanted to print and Finale
printed that part.
In Finale25, this doesn’t work. Instead I have to EXTRACT PARTS in order to
print the part I want. Do we no longer print from our generated parts?

Is this a new “feature” of Finale25 or am I making a mistake somewhere along
the line?

Thanks for helping,

[Finale] Printing parts problem

2013-02-07 Thread Vosbein, Terry
Hello,

I am having a problem trying to print parts. (I am using Finale 2012c Mac)

I have a quintet score. I have edited the linked parts and am ready to print.
When I select PRINT, I don't see the Select Score and Parts for Printing
dialog box. It goes right to the Mac Print window. If I click print, only the
score prints. Nothing I have done will allow me to print the parts.

I have tried to re-generate parts. I have tried printing with one of the parts
showing. I created a new quintet score, generated parts, and had the same
results.

If I click EXTRACT PARTS, that works fine, but that, of course makes new files,
no longer linked.

I have used this feature many times in the past, although probably not since
the latest 2012c update came out.

I tried creating a new file and had the same result. I tried opening older
files that I had generated and printed linked parts from and Finale took me
right to the Mac print window, bypassing the Select Score and Parts for
Printing dialog box.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!!

Trash the finale preferences?

this is the wildcard customer-support-time-wasting procedure that
should in more recent versions only be done when everything else has
failed. before doing so:

reboot
reboot again
open a file with no libraries to see if the same prob appears
reboot again

make a COPY of the file, delete all parts, generate new parts and see
if you still encounter the problem. it goes straight to the print
dialogue normally when there are no parts in the doc.

what programmes are usually running at the same time you encounter the problem?

do you also encounter the problem when working in earlier versions of finale?

when did you upgrade to 2012c and have you printed correctly since
doing so? you said prob not, but if you can figure out if yes or no,
might be helpful in some way...

have you tried reinstalling 2012b? i am on b still...

I find that trashing the preferences solves almost all of these odd problems.
In what way does it waste time as it takes only a few seconds to do?
Is it dangerous somehow?

no i meant that is the stock answer support has often enough given to
many users, which gives them a little more time before they actually
have to answer your questions, or even look into the problem.

not dangerous, but if you don't regularly back up your prefs file you
will have to rebuild it entirely from scratch after trashing it.

Dear Jonathan,

I believe, as some others have pointed out, that the page setups will revert to whatever you have defined in your default document. If you have Any printer, and US Letter defined there, that's what you'll get. Change the default document, and the results will change.

or

Just before extraction set the page set up (under file menu) to your required printer and page size (in our example A4), save and then CHECK the 'Open Extracted Parts' box before extracting. The parts all come out with the correct printer and page set up ready to go.

This is a new one to me. I'll have to try it.

Hi John,
Look at Finale Script...it is in the PluginsMisc. Menu. Scroll down
and you will see Batch Printing. Double click on this Script and the
Finale Script Editor will open up. Anything with // in front of it
will be ignored. You can remove and add // to fit your needs. You
can also modify the scripts yourself.

[Finale] Printing parts in Mac OS X

2004-11-26 Thread Jonathan Smith
Unfortunately, you can't.
Just as you can't set up the page size from file menu and have it
retained in the extracted part from that file like you used to in OS9.
Coda say it is not a bug but that Finale can't access the OS to do
this, so it looks as if we will have to live with it.

Has anyone got a work around for these problems (without having to use
applescripts)?
