Re: [Finale] Scanning, what to do now?

2016-09-26 Thread David H. Bailey
My apologies -- I thought you had already upgraded to Finale v25.

If you haven't already wasted your money on Finale25, then don't because
it obviously won't offer you anything positive over what you're already
doing.

But there's no need to be snarky about it, apology or not.

Just stick with what you've got since it's obviously working for you.

Sharpeye and Photoscore allow you to save as MusicXML or MIDI, either of
which you can import into Finale.

Re: [Finale] Scanning, what to do now?

2016-09-26 Thread Robert Patterson
The scanner creates a tiff, right? If so, you file->import the tiff into
Fin14.5. I believe the issue here is that MM inexplicably and inexcusably
removed the tiff import from Fin25. But if you import it into Fin14.5 (or
some earlier version), you then save it as musx (or mus). There is no need
to go through a music xml step.

I believe you'd have to save it in xml format and import it into finale.

Well, to be fair, makemusic is owned by a company who also owns Alfred music,
which is like one of the biggest music publishers in the world.so.

Plus, there are plenty of third party programs that do a better job of
scanning.
