Re: [Finale] Component Files Folder (Mac)

2013-03-14 Thread Haroldo Mauro
I'm sorry, the manual probably means NOT the user library but the computer's.
But never mind what the manual says. I've checked both user and computer
Library folders manually and found Component Files folder in NEITHER of them.
How do you edit/save default files? BTW, I get to my user library from a link
in the sidebar. Very convenient!

At first, I thought one had to use the option key when in finale looking for
a file which is in the user Library. However, I just tried that and it
 didn't work.

From the finder I can get to system / library / application support / make
music / Finale 2012 / but there is no Component files folder there. There
is a Libraries folder, which has a Maestro Font Default in it, however.

I don't have a clue as to how one might open that file in Finale to make
 changes.

Re: [Finale] Component Files Folder (Mac)

2013-03-14 Thread Bruce, Jim
Hello all,
Here is the response from Finale Documentation:

The confusion stems from the fact that we reorganized the Finale folder
structure in 2010 (Finale 2011), which means the Component Files folder was
removed. Unfortunately, this particular help topic was not updated to reflect
the change. The Maestro Font Default file can be found in this location:

Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MakeMusic/Finale 2012/Music Files/Default
Files
Win: C:\Users\[account]\AppData\Roaming\MakeMusic\Finale 2012\Music
Files\Default Files

Remember that the tilde (~) is the character that OS X uses to refer to your
user account.

I hope this helps,
Jim

Re: [Finale] Component Files Folder (Mac)

2013-03-14 Thread Haroldo Mauro
Thanks Jim. I had found the Default Files folder in both user and computer
library folders (Mac) previously. However, as I mentioned in my original
message, when I open one of the Default files, as Maestro Font Default our Jazz
Font Default, edit them and try to save, I get a message that says something
like: When trying to save…… the file manager reported an error. And the file
is not saved. Can you help?

OK, I'm puzzled.

On ML, the user library is hidden. If you need to open it, make sure you are in
the Finder, hold down the Option key, and then choose Go Library.

Using the option key from the finder, I can get to user / library / Application

I don't have a clue as to how one might open that file in Finale to make
