That's something I added last night. I'll take a look at it, but it

work for me.
I've found the cause.

I had fop installed, which includes ant-1.5.1. It was picking that up
in my CLASSPATH, and getting very confused.
When I removed fop and tried installing ant-1.6.0 it worked fine.

[Fink-devel] fink suggestion

2003-09-26 Thread Thomas Kotzian
i have a suggestion for fink (not the distro, i mean the perl frontend).

i was on holiday and there were a big number of package updated. i
wanted to update all of them in one step. but for example
postfix-release needed db3-devel but another program needed
db41-ssl-devel and installed this one. - the postfix build died ... and
so did other ... - after a few "fink update-all"s all works well, but
it's not nice this way.

wouldn't it be better to check if dependencies are ok before EACH
package gets compiled?
i don't know perl enough to peak into the source.

thanks, thomas

Re: [Fink-devel] fixing up libpng

2003-03-11 Thread thomas kotzian
someone with cvs access please fix doxygen and khacc - they build fine
with libpng3 and can depend on libpng3 only.

Am Dienstag, 11.03.03 um 18:33 Uhr schrieb Alexander Hansen:

The new fix-fink seems to work OK for me. Since I run from unstable, I
only had 3 packages that showed up: sodipodi, doxygen, and khacc.
Apparently there are still a few packages out that haven't made the
libpng->libpng3 transition. I found that when i tried to rebuild
khacc,
it wanted the old libpng. I've cc'ed the maintainer. The other two
packages didn't try to grab the old libpng, so they look to be
up-to-date.

On Mon, 2003-03-10 at 23:52, David R. Morrison wrote:

it. If you try it out, please send me your feedback.

Right now, fix-fink should report all the KDE packages as needing to
be
rebuilt, if the packages in "stable" are installed on your system.
However,
rebuilding them won't do anything for you, and if you run fix-fink
again
it will tell you to rebuild KDE again! (This problem will be solved
once Ben Reed is able to move the unstable KDE packages to KDE; I
won't
be releasing the new fix-fink until then.)

Here's what it does: it examines all of your libraries and
executables to
see if they link to libpng.2.dylib, and if they do, it tells you to
rebuild.
This only makes sense, by the way, if you have run "fink
selfupdate-cvs"
on March 10 or later (to make sure that the "libpng -> libpng3"
updates
are present on your system).

So, if your fink is up-to-date, you can run this, but you'll have to
do
the rebuilds by hand if you have stable KDE installed.

Does this mean it's OK to move, or do you need feedback before you
want to move it?

[Fink-devel] Re: packages KDE 3.1 needs before a stable move

2003-03-09 Thread thomas kotzian
I tried moving KDE to stable, but a number of deps had been added
since last putting KDE there. The following packages are needed by
KDE for me to move it to stable:

  doxygen (wants graphviz)
i haven't heard any reports of graphviz or doxygen since the last
problems ...

  pilot-link9 (wants python23)
why should a alpha-version go to stable?

  freetype2-hinting
  libusb
  sane-backends
Are there any objections to any of these? The one I worry about is
python23, since that breaks binary-compat. Is it feasible to make a
pilot-link9 that has a python22 dependency for stable? Or are we
going to have to make the KDE move coincide with updating all of the
python deps?

it works at least for the documentation of doxygen itself. so i guess
it is working. i cannot test it, because i don't have a project handy.
if someone uses it, please test it.

[Fink-devel] doxygen - reports about link errors

2003-02-16 Thread thomas kotzian
Hello!

I got reports (about 4-5) that doxygen 1.2.18-{4,5} can't link to png.
I don't have problems on my system. some people have tried it with jul
2002 and dec 2002 dev tools and osx 10.2.3 and 10.2.4.
even recompiling png doesn't help on affected systems.

-lqtools -lpng

does anyone have a idea how to handle this situation?

BTW, i put newer packages in the package submission tracker including
doxygen 1.3 (rc3) maybe this solves the problem ... - i don't have a
idea...

Re: [Fink-devel] is there a TeX expert here?

2003-02-05 Thread thomas kotzian
Thanks for all your help!

than there is a upstream problem with doxygen. because even the newer
version 1.3-rc3 of doxygen produces this tex-code. (it is included in
static form in der tar-file and can also be generated with doxygen
itself). What to do in this situation. html export from doxygen works,
but when there isn't working tex-code ...

i write to the doxgen people to talk about this situation ...

Am Mittwoch, 05.02.03 um 03:12 Uhr schrieb David R. Morrison:

Thomas,

Well, the "quick" answer is that pdftex/pdflatex have been under heavy
development in the past few years, and things haven't always been
backwards
compatible.

The good news is that now that the new version of teTeX (which was the
basis for both the new Fink package and Gerben Wierda's new distro)
contains a version of pdftex which is supposed to be stable now, so
there
shouldn't be changes like this in the future.

I'm looking into the problem more, to see if I can fix this file.

[Fink-devel] is there a TeX expert here?

2003-02-04 Thread thomas kotzian
I have some reports that the package doxygen doesn't work with gerben's

the problem is the tex-file included in the .tar-file of doxygen in the

Yes it is not needed, because, freetype2-hinting provides: freetype2:

Re: [Fink-devel] md5sum depends on endian???

2002-11-21 Thread Thomas Kotzian
the md5sum in
ftp://fr2.rpmfind.net/pub/GNOME/sources/ggv/1.99/ggv-1.99.96.tar.gz.md5
is different from the md5sum i compute here.
Another time i download a file with Netscape/Mozilla and i make a
package - it works but when i delete the source and let fink/curl
redownload the source-md5 is different - but both files worked.
i have to investigate it a little bit more. - i only wanted to know the
fundamentals. I'll give you more information when i did some more
testing.

Is md5sum on little-endian machines different to ones on big-endian?

No, the MD5 is defined on a stream of bytes and thus not affected by
endianess issues. There must be something different wrong.

What exactly are the two checksums you get? Are you sure the files you
are looking at are identical?

The new version of gtk+2 sets GDK_USE_XFT for in the runtimevars, so
you don't need to set it.

Well, it doesn't help anyway...

[Fink-devel] threads: pth or pthread

2002-07-17 Thread Thomas Kotzian

i have ported the vorbis-tools to fink and i have linked (and adapted)
the program to libpth. but i have found /usr/lib/libpthread.

Which one is recommended to be used?

Btw, which version/package/libraries/headers should be used to port a
fink package. The one packaged for fink or the one included with MacOSX.
For example zlib - there is a fink package and a version in MacOSX -
which one to use???

Thanks!

[Fink-devel] kdebindings no java supported

2002-07-16 Thread Thomas Kotzian

Hello!

Is there a problem with activating java bindings in kdebindings or did
it happen by accident???

current kdebindings-3.0.2

output:

fast creating xparts/src/gtk/Makefile
fast creating xparts/src/interfaces/Makefile
fast creating xparts/src/kde/Makefile
fast creating xparts/xpart_notepad/Makefile
config.status: creating config.h
config.status: executing default-1 commands

Java wasn't found. The Java bindings need javac, javah and jni.
Try using --with-java=/your/java/dir. Typing 'make' now will skip the
java bindings.

when you type "man malloc" you see, that malloc is defined in the
"stdlib.h"-header-file - you can make a patch that changes a #include
 to #include

why don't we add this as the default to configure ...

... and this as the default install script.

My whole intention is to add some more standard parameters to the
configure process that everyone uses ... - you can override them
anyway - but these are standard. And less files go to wrong places
because some parameters were forgotten to add.

2002-05-18 Thread Thomas Kotzian

i wanted to port graphviz - there's only 1 problem left (i hope so)

when linking, i cannot find the symbol: _strtoll

i could only find it in libmysqlclient - but i don't want to link
graphviz against an absolutely unrelated library.

How is the quickest way to find this symbol. - Or does someone know
which library has _strtoll

Thanks, ThomasK.

[Fink-devel] Libtool problem with new package graphviz

2002-05-16 Thread Thomas Kotzian

i want to port graphviz to fink. - But i get a compile error really late
in the build process ...

i have tried to compile/link with -undefined suppress -flat_namespace
and -undefined error -twofold_namespace - both give the same error -
when i remove -dynamiclib from the marked instruction it works, but it
doesn't give a dynamic library ;->

do you know any trick or what i have to change to make libtool work??? i
have tried libtool(1.3...) and libtool14 - both same result.

attached are the files for graphviz ...

[Fink-devel] package xtail - correct man-page directory

2002-05-16 Thread Thomas Kotzian

where should main-pages be kept - in /sw/share/man - isn't it?

i found that in some packages the man pages are in /sw/man - is this
correct???

for example:
the man-pages in xtail are in the wrong directory:

Re: [Fink-devel] port of qtfw

i had the same problem when porting an older version of nget to fink.
the problem is, that the apple-compiler (gcc) is of version 2.95.2. In
gcc version 2.95.3 the file is included and the missing ostream class is
included. - i verified that with my linux-system that has 2.95.3.
I had to hack up nget (it was only 1 local change) to use iostream.

Hello!

I wanted to install mjpegtools. but the following error came:

patching file utils/yuv4mpeg.h
patching file yuvfilters/Makefile.in

[Fink-devel] nget 0.18 - compiler error???

2002-04-07 Thread Thomas Kotzian

Hello!

I'm the package maintainer of nget 0.16 ... - it's in unstable - when
upgrading to 0.17 or 0.18 there is a compiler error on MacOSX. - please
test the attached package. Do you see a change to make it work? The same
problem ist with 0.17 and 0.18 ... - it works under linux ... but not on
OSX.

Thanks, ThomasK.

[Fink-devel] Package nessus and gtk+ friends

2002-04-03 Thread Thomas Kotzian

The unstable package nessus-1.0.10-1.info (and friends) need package
"gtk+-shlibs" but can't find it.
while searching through unstable i found a gtk+-package in /gnome and in
/graphics - are they the same - are they redundant?
