You can use --log-level=info (or debug, IIRC)

BTW, the right rudder control does not work on the numpad , next to
numpad-0 , the rudder-left key that is fine. I had to hack the keymapping
to put it on / but it's not too well placed. Is this a bug or a local
 oddity?

This one often comes up... On a 105 key UK keyboard (I don't have an American
one handy to compare) the rudder controls are, on the numeric keypad, the
0/Ins key and the enter key.

The differential braking controls, on the other hand, which have a similar
effect to the rudder on the ground (i.e. they yaw the plane) are, on the main
keyboard, the ,/ key and ./ key.

Of course, it's not at all easy to fly using the keyboard to control the
rudder, but those keys ought to at least make it work as advertised...

Many thanks for explaining that, next time I'll use the correct keys ;)

the L/R gear brakes are obviously not a good substitute for the rudder on
take off, that's why I was keen to sort out my rudder controls.

Anyway it did force me to find out how to modify the key-mapping and use
the property editor. I like the flexibility this , were nice design.

Shame the property editor often fails since it overruns an 80 char
internal limit. That probably needs to be extended a bit. Trivial mod for
someone who knows that code.

Thanks again.

[Flightgear-users] terrasync

2005-10-10 Thread wino

Hi,

I've installed 0.98 on a Gentoo system and appart from a handful of
glitches is works very well on the std KSFO scenery.

Then I downloaded some 10x10s for Europe and untarred them but all I get
from them is default light cloud and default grassy ground texture.

Is there a way to get fgfs to produce some output that I can debug from?
Just failing quietly leaves me guessing a any number of poss. errors and I
will need to spend a week to find the prob.

TIA for any suggestions.

oddity?

Finally the c310 seems to have a broken R-aileron. Preflight checks showed
no movement whereas the left one was fine. The aircraft is unusable
because of that .

In fact there are quite a few oddities here but my main issue is the
scenery , thanks again.

[Flightgear-users] terrasync

2005-09-27 Thread Edward Cawley
Now that I've solved my joystick problems (thanks to all how gave me
input !) I'm working on scenery. Is the terrasync utility included in
the 0.9.8 download or does it have to be downloaded separately? One
of the documents mentioned a read me that came along with the
utility. When I get it how do I use it? I've downloaded 10 X 10
scenery blocks, placed them in the terain folder in the data folder,
but nothing happens when I get to the edge of the w130n30 block which
was included in the download. Help.

In the FlightGear source folder you will find another folder called utils. Somewhere in there you'll find the terrasync readme. On 9/27/05, Edward Cawley

Glad you managed to work around your joystick problem eventually! Just
checking - did you uncompress the files you downloaded? They're gzipped tar
files and need to be uncompressed and extracted before you can use the
contents.

Shout again if you need more assistance in doing so. Basically, once done you
should have, in the data/Scenery/Terrain folder, several subfolders (note
_not_ just the tgz files), one for each chunk you've downloaded.

Cheers,

AJ
