Re: Unnecessary overhead when running Apache FOP via command line
Ville Mattila schrieb: Hello readers, I have been testing the Apache FOP for a while on our Ubuntu 9.10 box. Do you know any solution how I could speed up the execution of FOP? Maybe loading and keeping some necessary libraries and runtimes in memory? You didn't mention which Java version you are using. If you aren't using Java 6 from SUN already then give it a try, it might help a bit (but not as much as the Servelt/WebService approach)) Christian - To unsubscribe, e-mail: fop-users-unsubscr...@xmlgraphics.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: fop-users-h...@xmlgraphics.apache.org

[Fwd: Application Period Opens for Travel Assistance to ApacheCon US 2008]
---BeginMessage--- Dear PMCs, Please could you forward the below message to your user@ and dev@ mailing lists, thanks in advance. - The Travel Assistance Committee is taking in applications for those wanting to attend ApacheCon US 2008 between the 3rd and 7th November 2008 in New Orleans. The Travel Assistance Committee is looking for people who would like to be able to attend ApacheCon US 2008 who need some financial support in order to get there. There are VERY few places available and the criteria is high, that aside applications are open to all open source developers who feel that their attendance would benefit themselves, their project(s), the ASF and open source in general. Financial assistance is available for flights, accomodation and entrance fees either in full or in part, depending on circumstances. It is intended that all our ApacheCon events are covered, so it may be prudent for those in Europe and or Asia to wait until an event closer to them comes up - you are all welcome to apply for ApacheCon US of course, but there must be compelling reasons for you to attend an event further away that your home location for your application to be considered above those closer to the event location. More information can be found on the main Apache website at http://www.apache.org/travel/index.html - where you will also find a link to the application form and details for submitting. Time is very tight for this event, so applications are open now and will end on the 2nd October 2008 - to give enough time for travel arrangements to be made. Good luck to all those that will apply. Re: Source Code for 0.20.4
Rakesh Kumar S schrieb: Hi Has FOP 0.20.4 sources been taken off from the download site. I want to download the sources??? Can anyone provide me links where i can download the source code http://archive.apache.org/dist/xml/fop/source/ It's a bit tricky to find because it was released when FOP was part of the XML Projekt. I guess we should either move it all over to the xmlgraphics archive or provide an additional link. -- Christian - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Fabian Zeindl schrieb: Hi, I'm using FOP for automatic bill printing, and I ran into a few problems. I already readthe FAQ but didn't find anything. So: 1. When I try to convert the attached rechnung.fo into a pdf by running There is no attachement .. [..] 2. I download the 0.92beta binary version and extracted it. How do I know whether all dependencies are satisfied? I didn't install anything apart form the JavaVM, but maybe Ubuntu already installed something for me. So my question: When I want to bundle fop for windows, what do I have to install too? One package consists of: - 2 full books (Student Guide, Instructor Guide) of approx 200 pages each - separate handouts in 3 booklets (each of 30-40 pages) All targets are generated from the same XML source. Average book contains 80-150 images. Which image format are you using? If you aren't using jpegs you might try it this format because those will be directly embedded in (PDF and PS) documents which is faster than decoding the images. I've used JDK1.4 (without jvm tuning) and the result I got after 1:15 min was a 20MB PDF.
