After adding the katello-client repo, it works. It might not be possible or
easy, but it would be nice if the the official RHEL client packages can
maintain compatibility with Katello.

On EL6, you have to upgrade pulp-rpm-handlers package too.
upgrade from 2.6.4 to 2.8.6 worked for me.

I have the same problem. Server and Client are both RHEL 7. Server is
running Katello 3.1. Client's katello-agent and related packages are from
the Sat 6.2 client repo. Do they need to be from upstream katello ?
Anything else that could go wrong ?

[foreman-users] Katello, applying errata: "issue with the backend service pulp: 500 Internal Server Error"

I'm having trouble applying some Errata - after hitting confirm on applying

hammer ping tells me the pulp; Status is FAIL

systemctl says all pulp services are fine, except pulp-workers which exited

[foreman-users] Katello at Scale?

2016-09-21 Thread Michael Bassler
Hello,

I am having a scale issue. I have a need to register a few thousand systems
to Katello in a short period of time. I initially tested running 10
concurrent registrations and ran into failures, which has lead down a bit
of a rabbit hole of tuning. After making some tuning changes to
postgresql.conf, pulp_works, passenger.conf, and 05-foreman.conf we are
able to scale to ~50 concurrent registration before errors. I believe the
bottleneck that we are hitting now is candlepin. Is there someone who can
assist with the tuning of candlepin. The administration guide isn't very
helpful.

Thank You
Michael

Re: [foreman-users] Problems with provisioning setup

2016-09-21 Thread Üstün Kaya

I had the same experience with Foreman 1.12.3. I noticed it it failed to
find the command 'puppet'. After reboot, it was in path and foreman host
was successfully registered. Looks like environment setup is incomplete
without a reboot. It might be related.

Are you looking for information on how to sync and make packages available to
your clients or on how to tell the clients to perform the updates?

Regards,

Re: [foreman-users] search host very slow in foreman

2016-09-21 Thread sinux shen
we actually did what you suggested, it was pretty much like the following
two join that caused the problem:

> LEFT OUTER JOIN "katello_installed_packages" ON
 "katello_installed_packages"."id"
= "katello_host_installed_packages"."installed_package_id"
> LEFT OUTER JOIN "katello_content_facets"
ON "katello_content_facets"."host_id" = "hosts"."id"

each table has more than 500,000+ rows of records. I will try to get the
output when I get back to work tomorrow.

Thanks again for the help.

Hey Hauke,

I am using Preseed default template for partition table, in it using Crypto
method for my hardware encryption.
Is there any way I can give a default password for it, so that I shouldn't
give password during the installation?

Thank you.
