Table elements not enumerated

2008-07-22 Thread Shuttleworth, Roger
Hello All

I posted this question on the FrameMaker-DITA group last week and got no
response, so here goes again.

Using FM 7.1 p116 on Windows XP SP2.

In my EDD I have four elements that are defined as table elements. They are:
tgroup, simpletable, choicetable, and properties (all DITA elements).
Working in a structured doc, I paste some delimited text that I want to convert
to a table. I paste it either into a paragraph element or into some
other container. I select the text and go to Table Convert to table. As
expected, a dialog box opens showing the table formats, numbers of heading
rows, etc. However, the only choice in the Element tag box is simpletable.
Other table elements just don't appear.

The same is true if I go to Table Insert table. Normally I would not do this
anyway, preferring to use the element catalog.

It is always the simpletable that is presented as the only option; the other
three are never presented.

I can trick the system sometimes into presenting all four elements, but it's a
hassle and I haven't yet found any pattern as to what makes it
enumerate them.

Is this a known bug in FM 7.1? Or is there something else that could trigger
this behaviour?

Thanks.

Thanks for the response. I tried adding a soft return to the lines

there, but there is still no leader line and the page number in not

 Hi,

I know this question has been asked many times, but I can't find any
 threads with the answers.

 Here is the situation:

We have a TOC and LOT that uses leader dots that lead to a page number
 on a right tab;

 eg

 Table 3-1 List of Program
 Parameters...3-3

The problem is when the para text is longer than 1 line and the page
number wraps to second line. When that happens, we don't get a tab to
 right or a leader.

 eg.

Table 3.1 List of Programs Parameter for the XXX Program Setting
 as;dfasdfdsf
 3-3

Is there a way to get leaders on the second line? Seems like I
 remember that you can't.

 Thanks

RE: FM import to RH; Problem w/bold in table cells

2008-07-22 Thread Matt Sullivan
Hi Stan,

I'm pretty sure what you are seeing is CSS related.

You are seeing the default conversion of the Frame formatting into RoboHelp.
When RoboHelp has no explicit conversion instructions, it attempts to retain
formatting from FM. With an explicit conversion, the HTML looks as one might
expect.

Try the following (in this order)
1 Use a character tag (like Bold) to apply formatting to your text
2 Create the desired formatting within your CSS file (Necessary for Step 3)
3 In RoboHelp, set your character tag to convert to your new CSS item

I like using Dreamweaver for CSS editing, rather than the RoboHelp internal
editor. The current RH editor makes a bit of the CSS code tougher to get to.

You'll probably appreciate a CSS reference guide to get the proper Tag
(.bold) and Class selectors (.td.bold, and maybe .td.p.bold) defined.

For the HTML and CSS code jockeys out there, pardon me if I butchered the
CSS def's above...I refuse to hit the reference books prior to my coffee!!!

Technical Communication Suite, RoboHelp HTML, WebHelp

I'm importing a FrameMaker book into RH 7.02.

In any table cell where I have bolded a word, the output:

1) has a span style inserted around what was intended to be bolded
but with inappropriate font-family, font-size, and font-weight.

2) has a span style inserted around the remainder of the content
within the cell, with inappropriate font-family and font-size.

I have tried to bold using the ctrl-b method and using a bold
character tag with the same results.

Example of output without attempting to bold:

p class=FM_CellBodyA Windows device represents any network workstation
or server that runs a version of the Windows operating system.

Example of output attempting to bold the words General device:

p class=FM_CellBodyA span style=font-family: 'Times New Roman';
font-weight: normal; font-size: 12.0pt;General
  device/spanspan style=font-family: 'Times New Roman';
font-weight: normal; font-size: 12.0pt;
represents any network device that uses an operating system other than
  Windows, Unix, or Linux./span

How can I bold words within a table cell without adding messed up code
to my html?

Thanks,
Stan

In the appropriate reference page specifications, simply add a second Tab (not

Disappearing Symbol Characters

2008-07-22 Thread ttpoulos
FM 7.1 (p116) running on XP

Symbol characters appear as blank spaces, small boxes, or wrong characters when
they are imported as OLE objects into anchored frames OLE (from Visio or
Mathtype). The symbol characters appear correctly in the host application when
the file is opened from FrameMaker, but disappear as soon as the image is back
in the anchored frame.

Symbol works correctly in FrameMaker when it is applied as a Character Format
in the body text. The graphics being are being produced in Visio on the same
computer with the same fonts as FrameMaker is using.

Any ideas why the symbol characters disappear in anchored frames only?

Has anyone else experienced and/or solved this problem?
