RE: FrameMaker 9 "Internal error 9004" issue

2015-06-12 Thread Syed Zaeem Hosain (syed.hos...@aeris.net)
True. Not officially supported, but I also have run every version of FrameMaker
from 7.2 onwards in 64-bit Windows (various) without any problems -
particularly this error reported by Frank.

Of course, FM 9 was not as stable as FM 8 (older) or FM 11 (later) versions. FM
9 did crash on me on a few occasions, but didn't require a re-installation, or
stay broken for long. Usually it was some file corruption issue that a MIF
save-read typically fixed.

64-bit Windows 7 is not a supported OS for FrameMaker 9, it's designed for
32-bit XP or Vista. Have you tried installing in compatibility mode?

Here's an old Adobe forum thread on the subject:

FrameMaker 9 "Internal error 9004" issue

2015-06-12 Thread Frank Ripp
Hi Framers,

I'm running Frame 9 (v9.0p255) under Windows 7 on a Dell Latitude with 16 GB of
RAM.
The software was recently installed, and for a few weeks everything worked as
expected.

Today, when I open *any* existing Frame document:

1) The document is blank.

2) When I close the document, the content now displays underneath the "Do
you want to save changes" dialog. (So my content is still there!)

3) No matter which button I click, an error message displays: "Internal
error 9004 FrameMaker has detected a serious problem and must
quit."

4) I click OK in the error dialog and FrameMaker quits.

Our IT folks uninstalled Frame, then reinstalled it from disk. I then updated
it with 4 separate patches, updating it from 9.0p196 to 9.0p255.
I'm still seeing the same behavior. (And of course, I'm in the middle of
working on many documents!)

As per the error message, I sent the log files to Adobe at
fmer...@adobe.com. Not sure when I'll hear back from
them.

Anybody out there run into this problem? How did you resolve it?
Any help on this is greatly appreciated!

Re: Is there a way to get around the issue of a book not allowing the same file more than once?

2015-06-12 Thread john . x . posada
I'd tried that...I had unpredictable resultsI was getting crashes that
started when I implemented it and stopped when I removed them.

BTW...I do realize why what I want would would never work...How does the
same document address having different page numbers and section numbers if
I should try to gen a book with both instances of the same file.

Never mind...it was a tough week.

Instead of including it in the book, can you use it as as a text inset in
two different places, instead?
