Re: [Framers] Can't Save As PDF or Print to Adobe PDF Printer, Windows 10 (Austin Meredith)
Yesterday Microsoft force-fed us another update to Win10Pro, which fixed the problem of being unable to generate with “Save as PDF” (please note that you will need to change back to the “RGB” option). > Perhaps this can help the programmers figure out what has gone wrong with > "Save as PDF" in the Win10Pro (1803 build 17134.165 installed 8.8.2018) > and FM2017 and Acrobat DC (18.011.20058) environment. Re: [Framers] Can't Save As PDF or Print to Adobe PDF Printer, Windows 10
Perhaps this can help the programmers figure out what has gone wrong with "Save as PDF" in the Win10Pro (1803 build 17134.165 installed 8.8.2018) and FM2017 and Acrobat DC (18.011.20058) environment. The very last time we have been able to generate a PDF was on September 7th, when we were able to generate the following file [1]http://www.kouroo.info/kouroo/thumbnails/F/DoctorSigmundFreud.pdf References 1. http://www.kouroo.info/kouroo/thumbnails/F/DoctorSigmundFreud.pdf ___ This message is from the Framers mailing list Send messages to framers@lists.frameusers.com Visit the list's homepage at http://www.frameusers.com Archives located at http://www.mail-archive.com/framers%40lists.frameusers.com/ Subscribe and unsubscribe at http://lists.frameusers.com/listinfo.cgi/framers-frameusers.com Send administrative questions to listad...@frameusers.com
Re: [Framers] Can't Save As PDF or Print to Adobe PDF Printer, Windows 10
And further testing indicates that the issue occurs if Illustrator or Photoshop is used to alter the background to white (if it wasn't white to start with). The Adobe personnel are also seeing this as an issue in Illustrator, so it is apparently NOT just a FrameMaker issue. Yay? But, progress! Adobe is working with it. Thanks to them, we've narrowed it down to "not all SVG files" but "any SVG created by pasting a photograph into a Visio file that is exported to SVG". [Framers] Can't Save As PDF or Print to Adobe PDF Printer, Windows 10
Windows 10 strikes again, it seems. As all may recall, the 1803 build of Windows 10 bolluxed the ability of Framemaker to create PDF files. Microsoft supposedly fixed this issue in July. Except not quite. We use SVG images in our Framemaker files, and as of August 31, my coworker, who is on Windows 10, *cannot *create a PDF. In fact, Frame freezes and has to be killed via TaskManager. I have Windows 7 on my work computer, and I *can *create a PDF from the same files he can't. On my home computer, I have Windows 10 and Framemaker 2017 (same versions as my coworker has at work). I tested several different documents, and got the same results he did. We have fully updated Windows and fully updated Framemaker 2017 and fully updated Acrobat Pro DC. I have tried switching from RGB to CMYK with no success. I also tried running Framemaker in Windows 7 compatibility mode, with no success. Who do I scream at at Microsoft to get this *FIXED*? We can, obviously, workaround by using Visio files instead, but that means wrapping the sheet size to the image, which is going to play hob with making changes if we need to later on. Not a deal breaker, but damned inconvenient and it wouldn't be necessary if Microsoft hadn't broken things to begin with. -- Lin Sims ___ This message is from the Framers mailing list Send messages to framers@lists.frameusers.com Visit the list's homepage at http://www.frameusers.com Archives located at http://www.mail-archive.com/framers%40lists.frameusers.com/ Subscribe and unsubscribe at http://lists.frameusers.com/listinfo.cgi/framers-frameusers.com Send administrative questions to listad...@frameusers.com
