Hi Jeff,

Thanks for mentioning this, Jeff! Indeed, with the FrameMaker-to-Acrobat
TimeSavers + Form Assistant add-on it is possible to define tooltips for
text/images/web links through custom markers in the source FM file (present
in the PDF automatically upon distilling; applicable to all FM/Acrobat
versions). There are several sample PDFs in the Showcase section at
microtype.com. One that I added recently is
http://www.microtype.com/showcase/MultimediaAsst/SomosElMundo.pdf (172K).

And, furthermore, the Tooltip capability does not apply to the HTML output
as produced from standalone FrameMaker either (but we can assume that it
applies to HTML output from TCS).

So, with standalone FrameMaker saving as PDF , one could equally place
message URL or gotolink hypertext markers in text frames drawn over
graphic objects in the anchored frame (FrameMaker 5 or later).

I am posting this for a co-worker.

In FrameMaker 11, I have set objects to be hotspots going to an external
URL. When I generate a PDF, the hotspots work, but the tooltip text that
I entered for each hotspot is not showing. Instead, when I hover over
the hotspot, I see the URL. Is this a bug, or do I need to do something
differently?
Thanks for any and all help!

2013-04-12 Thread Rick Quatro
I did a test with this by creating a hotspot in FrameMaker and saving the
document to PDF. The hotspot is converted to an Acrobat Link object. As far
as I can see, Acrobat Link objects don't have a tooltip property. You can
see this by creating a Link by hand with the Link tool. I don't see any
place in the Link properties dialog box where you could specify a tooltip.
So I am not sure how this could work going from Frame to PDF.
