In a university production course have shown both Conner's "A Movie" as a prompt for student found footage editing assignment and Marker's "La Jete" for photographic composition and sequencing. [Frameworks] Pageant lenses for "Empire" screening
We are looking to borrow/rent for a pair of matched 1"-1.5" lenses for a Pageant projectors for screening of Warhol's compete *Empire * at Exploded View Microcinema in Tucson on April 29. A generous patron is sponsoring the print rental for this screening and this show will be a benefit fundraiser for Exploded View as we are finishing up our 4th year of experimental film/music programing in Tucson. We obviously want to do this a cross-over projection w/ 2 projectors. We have a line on 2 teleconverters, but wondered if anyone on Frameworks has 2 identical fast wide lenses that we could use for this special occasion. I remember talking to talking to David Gerstein when the SF Cinematheque showed Empire in the 1990's and I seem to recal that he said that the BH Filmosound in a box projectors circ WWII ran silent at 16fps. Hey Scott, Do you think there is any way that we could screen an Andrew Noren program at Exploded View in Tucson? I have an understanding that Andrew was influenced by the landscape of the Chihuahua monument in SE AZ (large volcanic desert monoliths) What film could this be? Here in Tucson (close to the Chihuahua) we are operating on the fringes, but are committed to creating an alt film scene here in the AZ southwest.. We remember amazing attending screenings or Noren's work in SF in the 90's (SF Cinematheque) ... So whats possible for our venue w/ Noren now? [Frameworks] New Experimental Film Venue!
New experimental film venue in Tucson I wanted to let the Frameworks community know that we are opening a new microcinema this fall called Exploded View in Tucson! Rebecca Barten and myself (David Sherman) ran Total Mobile Home microCINEMA in San Francisco in the 90's and we did many wonderful shows with visiting filmmakers such as Nathaniel Dorsky, Scott Stark, Henry Hills, Zoe Beloff, Bruce Baillie and even Sidney Peterson! Now we are trying a new microcinema experiment in the uncharted Southwest. The Fall is pretty much booked but if any filmmakers are planning tours, or visits (Robert Breer retired here in Tucson!) to the Southwest corridor in the coming year, please send us a query. Additionally, we are on a hunt for 1 1/2 lenses that will work for the throw of our space. We have Kodak Pageant, Singer Graflex, and Elmo CL projectors. If you have, or know of such 1 1/2 lenses that could be obtained free or at a reasonable cost, please contact us. (FYi the 3 Graflex lens that we used for 4 years at TMH was given to us in 1993 by Craig Baldwin!!)
