Even if you don't know French, by the description some of you may know what I'm referring to. I actually need to translate these two terms into Spanish, but I am so lost, even an English translation would do for a start. These are the terms: • Piétage («piétage de la pellicule») — (it refers to white numbers written with a «piéteuse» machine on the image and on the sound strips at the same time, in order to get them synchronized I guess. This operation is done with a special machine called «pieteuse») — • Piéteuse (the machine) — Fingers crossed there's someone out there who knows these words. Re: [Frameworks] Translation of «Piétage» and «Piéteuse»
I know! But, honestly, I'm not sure if they have the same meaning. foot is pied in French though. Both words seem too similar (piétage = footage). 2017-03-25 18:07 GMT+01:00 Francisco Torres <fjtorre...@gmail.com>: > footage > > 2017-03-25 8:38 GMT-04:00 _blank <bl...@null66913.net>: > >> Hi Esperanza, >> >> I’ve worked with film and I’m a translator. Re: [Frameworks] Translation of «Piétage» and «Piéteuse»
That's exactly what the author of the text told me, that the numbers were white. That is it, Christopher. Thank you, Blanca. It may be "pietadora" entonces. That's insane how close the word (the two words!) was, but so unfamiliar I would have never guessed. Still waiting to get confirmation from other people off-frameworks, although I'm sure you're completely right. Re: [Frameworks] Translation of «Piétage» and «Piéteuse»
The machine I used had a tape, like a typewriter tape, which had the white "ink" that was used to stamp the numbers on the soundtrack and the workprint. You would zero the counter at your sync mark, run the picture, then load the sound, zreo the counter at the sync mark and run the soundtrack. The numbers printed out every 12 frames and were white. You are referring to edge numbering for editing? We used to call it edge code or edge numbering. The machine as far as I can remember was just an edge numbering machine. It differs from keycoding/key codes, (which are the numbers that kodak burns right into the film), as edge coding or edge numbering is done after you've synchronized your workprint with your soundtrack and then stamp these edge numbers on to keep your sound and picture in sync during ediitng.
