RE: USB Keyboard Problem
Hello, I have a problem with my USB keyboard when I try to install Freebsd 5.3. It is very strange because the keyboard is working at the boot screen (where the different booting options are listed) but when the booting process launches the sysinstall the keybord is not working. The strange thing is that the keyboard is responding - for example when I hit numlock the light for numlock is respondig? Do you have any ideas what the problem is? I had the same problem when booting with FreeBSD version 5.3. I did a little googleing and found the answer. When you first boot with FreeBSD 5.3 bootable CD-ROM, wait for the FreeBSD boot menu to appear and choose option number 6. Then at the OK prompt, type the following and hit the enter key. set hint.atkbd.0.flags=0x1 Note the Quote makes are needed. At the next OK prompt, type boot And the system should boot to sysinstall menu where you will find the USB keyboard working. At least that is what work for me. Help Please ... Question on cvsupit
Hello, I have been trying for the last few days to figure out how to update the ports collection via the cvsup process. I have two different books on FreeBSD version 5.x and both say to use this cvsupit program but I cannot find it any where. I have FreeBSD release 5.3 install and created a user account that I can su in. I would like to be able to update the ports collections and FreeBSD source so that I can custom compile various ports and FreeBSD. Does any one have any idea where the cvsupit program is. I have tired installing cvsup-16.1h and cvsup-without-gui via both pkg_add, sysinstall, and the ports make/install process but I still cannot find this cvsupit program. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? I am still learning FreeBSD so I probably missing something simple some where? Solved --- FreeBSD 5.1 and Promise TX4
Hello, Ok, I figure out my problem as to why FreeBSD 5.1 release would not install with both a Promise Ultra 66 and a TX4 controller card in the same PC. The short of the long, it was and ID10T error. I realizes the problem after I install FreeBSD 4.8 release and was preparing to build a custom kernel. I used the dmesg command too see what FreeBSD had found and that when I saw the answer. The hard disk drive attached to the Promise Ultra 66 controller is ad12 not ad10 as I thought - ad10, ad4, ad6, ad8 where the individual disk on the Promise TX4 controller. Once I realized this, I did another install of FreeBSD 5.1 Release and the install work. FReeBSD 5.1 and Promise TX4
Hello, Has nay one gotten FreeBSD 5.1 Release to install on a system that has both a Promise Ultra 66 and a Promise TX4 controller cards. The Promise Ultra 66 controller controls one 20GB hard disk drive (which I would like to be the boot disk) and the Promise TX4 has 4 HD's configured in raid mode 01. I have try to get the install to work many time but it keeps failing. The FreeBSD install see the following hard disk drives - ad10, ad12, ad4, ad6, ad8, ar0. I think the disk drives I want is ad4 but the install complains that it cannot write to the disk. I have also tried ad10 with the same effect. I would like to install to the hard disk drive that is control by the Promise Ultra 66. If I take the Promise TX4 out, the install runs just fine and install with our problems to the AD4 disk. FreeBSD boots up and running happy. However, when I then put the Promise TX4 back in and the system would not boot - I get dump to the following prompt mountdrive or something like that. Also, I did have this same setup working just fine under FreeBSD 4.7 Release, so I am download the ISO for 4.8 Release and will try that. System is home made, Abit BE6-II motherboard, PIII 600Mhz, 256MB, Matrox G200 AGP Video card, CDROM (on the motherboard primary controller as master) Promise Ultra66 controlling one 20GB hard disk drive, and Promise TX4 with 4 HD's in raid 01 configuration. Right now I am learning FreeBSD and so I can blow the system up any way I like. Any help would be nice, Thanks, Andrew AKA Dyslextic ___ [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions To unsubscribe, send any mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
