Re: Double Layer dvd burning in FreeBSD

2007-09-04 Thread Rohit Viswanadha
Hi,

I have read the manuals and have successfully burnt several DVDs before. I
did nothing different when trying to burn dl DVD and it just has not been
successful.

Below is the error message I recieve from growisofs:

Executing 'builtin_dd if=DVD.iso of=/dev/pass1 obs=32k seek=0'
/dev/pass1: splitting layers at 1992528 blocks
:*-[ SEND DVD+R DOUBLE LAYER RECORDING INFORMATION failed with

I pretty much have had no luck with burncd or other tools when it comes to
dl burning.

My DVD Burner is: acd1: DVDR LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-832S/VTS3 at ata1-slave

Since you got this to work on double layer dvd burning -- what type of
burner do you have .. can you share your hardware specs ?

spamassassin port not reading local.cf?

2004-11-09 Thread Rohit Kumar Mehta
Hi Toomas I have this same problem Amavisd-new and SA 3.0.
I think the problem is that SA is invoked through amavisd (not spamc or
spamassassin).
I hope I do not have to make all my local changes through amavisd.conf.
Please do let me know if you discover another way.

OpenGL Hello World Example

2003-06-18 Thread Rohit
Hi,
This is something that has troubled me quite a bit. I followed the hello world
tutorial for opengl found here.

http://www.eecs.tulane.edu/www/Terry/OpenGL/Simple_Example.html#A%20Simple%20Example

This is the command I'm using to compile it (as suggested at the website)

gcc -o Hello_World Hello_World.c -lX11 -lMesaGL -lMesaGLU -lMesatk -lm

However it says gltk.h not found when I have gltk.h in
/usr/X11R6/include/GL/gltk.h

This is the same type of scenario I ran into when I tried compiling qt
examples. I have tried appending I/usr/X11R6/include/GL/gltk.h to the above
gcc command.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

what msg. do you see after the shutdown is complete?

 From the halt(8) man page:

Normally, the shutdown(8) utility is used when the system needs to be
halted or restarted, giving users advance warning of their impending doom
 and cleanly terminating specific programs.

 From the shutdown(8) man page:

 The following options are available:
-h The system is halted at the specified time.

So Rohit is in fact using 'halt' in the way it is normally invoked, as an
option to 'shutdown.' Is there a reason that 'halt' without 'shutdown'
would be preferable in this case?

Network Problem with custom kernel

ping the localhost .
I guess my network interface is properly detected. ifconfig shows my
network interface is xl0
I've allowed everything in the firewall on the very first rule.
These are the options I've put in the kernel

device miibus
device xl
options INET
options INET6
options MROUTING

options IPFIREWALL_VERBOSE_LIMIT=100
options IPFIREWALL_DEFAULT_TO_ACCEPT

options IPFILTER
options IPFILTER_LOG
options IPFILTER_DEFAULT_BLOCK
options IPSTEALTH
I guess I'm missing something. Also, how can I do make distclean (as
in linux) if I want to recompile then kernel ?
Thanks a lot.

Re: FreeBSD Port/Distribution Installation

2003-06-13 Thread Rohit
I went through the same problem. I think what you are refering to is that you
are not quite sure how to start netscape or emacs. Although you have
installed it in your system, you are not certain where it is right?

Well, the ports system should place whatever programs you install in your
PATH.
So, the command you would use to find out where netscape or emacs is installed
is:

bash$- whereis emacs
bash$- whereis netscape

that should tell you where emacs or netscape. But if you HAVE installed them
and they are in your path then they should just start when you type emacs
or netscape

Hopefully this helps

Re: cant get netscape or mozilla installer to run.

2003-06-13 Thread Rohit
Heres your solution.
You need the linux-libgtk.

If you go through the packaging system.
go to ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/packages/All
do an ls for linux-*
find the linux-libgtk
download it
and type
pkg_add -v linux-libgtk[someversion].tgz

that should fix your problem.

Booting takes too long. Why?

Hi,
I'm curious why booting my FreeBSD box takes so long. Is there a way to bypass

Thanks

Re: Booting takes too long. Why? (/ was not properly dismounted)

2003-06-13 Thread Rohit
Here is the dmesg. However, I should tell you that this has been the case with
all my FreeBSD boxes. I have two PC's running FreeBSD and a Compaq laptop
running FreeBSd all have different types of harddrives.

The main problem is that everytime I boot I get the message saying / was not
dismounted properly and then it goes through and fixes all the drive block
errors. (This is the case on all my computers)

I shutdown using the shutdown -h now command
or reboot using reboot now

Re: cant get netscape or mozilla installer to run.

2003-06-13 Thread Rohit
Reason being, If the person encountered the error with the
./netscape-installer script then it implies that he is using the latest
version of netscape downloaded from www.netscape.com itself.

And this version of netscape was written primarily for linux and runs under
linux emulation.

The ports version of netscape is not at the latest version (the last I
checked).
