Re: [Freeciv-Dev] First beta of Freeciv 2.2.0

2009-12-14 Thread Daniel Markstedt
The criteria to release 2.2.0 Release Candidate is that all targeted
bugs and patches have been resolved (or retargeted.) We have at the
time of writing 8 bugs and 1 patch targeted for 2.2.0.

I plan to make the next release on Dec 27.

 Hi all,

The Freeciv dev team has been busy at work implementing new features
since the release of 2.1.0 a little over two years ago. Now we have
decided that it's time to release a new major version: Freeciv 2.2.0.
The first beta of this major release is now available.

The top new feature is a full-featured built-in editor, that you can
use to make custom maps and scenarios, or simply to give you an edge
 in single-player games (read: cheat. ;) )

There are also a number of improvements to the rules, including a new
terrain: deep ocean, as well as many other changes under the hood to
make life easier for scenario makers.

A full changelog will be published at a later date.

Grab the source package from either of the following locations:

 https://sourceforge.net/projects/freeciv/files/
 http://download.gna.org/freeciv/beta/

On behalf of the Freeciv maintainers,

 Daniel Markstedt

[Freeciv-Dev] Update to freesounds soundset

2009-12-14 Thread Gavin
Hey all

I made an update to the soundset based on some feedback from a forum user.
Could we add this updated version to the FTP?
Forum post: http://forum.freeciv.org/viewtopic.php
Direct download: http://pedantic.co.za/freeciv/freesounds-1.1.zip

Another question: What would it take for this to become the new default
soundset?

I think nobody has actively set target releases for incoming bug
reports. Often target is set only when someone starts to work on
actual fix. So we probably have more than 8 bugs reported that should
be fixed before 2.2.0. I'll try to go through bug reports this week
and set targets.

I plan to make the next release on Dec 27.

Details:

It seems that Police Station has no effect. I'm not sure if it really has no
effect, or is client just displaying situation incorrectly.

Anyway, I'm democracy and several of my cities has one aggressive (not in
city) unit and police station. Unit list in city dialog overview tab shows
two angry faces for aggressive unit. Happiness tab shows military units in
the field causing two unhappiness.

I'm playing with my custom ruleset, but for relevant parts it should be
identical to default ruleset.

This is with S2_2 revision 16346
