[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #18084] Winning, Losing, and Points

Details:

The wiki [and in-game help] state: In some games when 2000 CE is reached,
the game stops and the nation with the highest score wins. This is patently
false for all games with default options - when time runs out the game is
declared a draw. Furthermore, i don't see an option to change this behavior
in the server. The comment in server/score.c says: Games ending by endturn
results in a draw, we don't rank in that case.

As i understand it, the winner is determined like this:

Total world conquest - the sole survivor wins, and doesn't care about the
score.
Space race - the nation with the first ship to Alpha Centauri wins, and
doesn't care about the score.
End turn - everybody loses; the score is not used.

If so, the score is not used at all in determination of the winner. Does it
serve some other function?

This issue was discussed in the forums [
http://forum.freeciv.org/viewtopic.php?p=26727 ], and the agreement was that
we would prefer it if the server actually did what the help says it does.
Since some developer made a conscious decision to have the game end in a draw,
it would be nice if we can get some input on the probability of overturning
this decision.

[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #18085] River and Map Format

Details:

Freeciv has 13 id terrains: glacier, deep ocean, desert, forest, plains,
grassland, hills, jungle, lake, mountains, ocean, swamp and tundra.

Every terrain is related to letter: http://freeciv.wikia.com/wiki/Map_format

I create scenarios (http://forum.freeciv.org/viewtopic.php?t=6328) and I find
complicated insert rivers in scenario. I used lake id terrain (+) for river,
but things are not going well... many problems.

Is it possibile to associate river with letter or symbol?

[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #18082] Odd auth code

2011-04-29 Thread anonymous

Follow-up Comment #1, bug #18082 (project freeciv):

For the switch case each element of the enum has to be defined (thus, also
AS_ESTABLISHED). As theis is an error, freeciv should report it. So this is OK
but perhaps a better way is possible.

[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #18085] River and Map Format

2011-04-29 Thread anonymous

Follow-up Comment #1, bug #18085 (project freeciv):

rivers are saved in another port of the savefile (I do not have access to the
source code at the moment but I think it is saved in the spe_000 elements).
Simply save a small map and compare the savefile to the rivers on the map.
Perhaps this is noted in the wiki?

[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #18085] River and Map Format

2011-04-29 Thread J. M. Gorbach

Follow-up Comment #2, bug #18085 (project freeciv):

I read in Map Format: ''spe_XX_ list of all specials located on the
map''. Specials are buffalo, coal, fish, etc.

I know how to insert river in file.sav: I write 2 in n000.

First of all Freeciv is licensed under GPL (version 2 or higher). We
couldn't change that even if we wanted. If you find this unacceptable
for Freeciv's inclusion to your system, there's no point in discussing
this any further.

You are asking someone to port Freeciv to your new line of Computers?
Are you expecting it to be free work from the community, or can money
be involved? (In either case resulting port would still be Open Source
under GPL license) I'm asking about the possibility to do this as paid
professional as I currently could see myself using working hours for
this instead of doing it only as hobby (for which I don't currently
have much time)
