[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #18279] Crash server game

2011-06-25 Thread Jacob Nevins

Follow-up Comment #2, bug #18279 (project freeciv):

Can you clarify which nations had clients attached and which were
AI-controlled?

From the savegame it looks like a single-player game with the Europeans led
by FireLizard2 as the only human player; yet your disconnection message
implies that a client was connected to the Norwegians:

> list players
List of players:
--
FireLizard2 (user asus, Human, European, Team 0)
L.L. ZAMENHOF (user Unassigned, AI, difficulty level Easy, Esperant, Team 1)
Tuxette (user Unassigned, AI, Dead, difficulty level Easy, Antarctican, Team
2)
Shashanka (user Unassigned, AI, difficulty level Easy, Bengali, Team 3)
noras (user Unassigned, AI, difficulty level Easy, Lojbanistani, Team 4)
Ray Bradbury (user Unassigned, AI, difficulty level Easy, Martian, Team 5)
Trygve Bratteli (user Unassigned, AI, difficulty level Easy, Norwegian, Team
6)
François l'Ollonais (user Unassigned, Barbarian, difficulty level Easy,

[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #18279] Crash server game

2011-06-25 Thread Jacob Nevins

Follow-up Comment #1, bug #18279 (project freeciv):

> Соединение с asus с MyHomeBook (игрок Trygve Bratteli)
было потеряно.
Reversing-engineering from ru.po, in English this message would be:
"Lost connection: asus from MyHomeBook (player Trygve Bratteli)."
(This message is from the server, in
server/connecthand.c:lost_connection_to_client().)

Winsock error #10053 is WSAECONNABORTED, as described in bug #15999.

So it looks like some sort of client crash. I've not tried to reproduce it
yet.

[Freeciv-Dev] [patch #2627] Script-triggered civil war

2011-06-25 Thread David Fernandez

Follow-up Comment #7, patch #2627 (project freeciv):

Thank you for this patch.
I think it is not only a debug tool, but probably the best feature to create
scenarios more similar to real history, where it is hard to maintain a large
empire. And a geat challenge for those single-player games where you are the
dominant nation soon in game.
If your empire suddently splits, it is a way to restart the fun again.

[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #18281] "Caravan" instead of "Freight" in the caravan pop-up

2011-06-25 Thread Hubert Kowalewski

URL:

Summary: "Caravan" instead of "Freight" in the caravan
pop-up
 Project: Freeciv
Submitted by: hubkow
Submitted on: Sun 26 Jun 2011 12:43:37 AM CEST
Category: None
Severity: 2 - Minor
Priority: 5 - Normal
  Status: None
 Assigned to: None
Originator Email:
 Open/Closed: Open
 Release: 2.2.5, 2.3.0
 Discussion Lock: Any
Operating System: Any
 Planned Release:

___

Details:

The caravan pop-up reads "Your Caravan Has Arrived" and "Your caravan from
... reaches the city of ..." even when the actual unit is a freight. I've
spotted this in v. 2.2.5, but by looking at the POT file from S2_3 this seems
to be a problem too (correct me if I'm wrong).

In the POT from 2.2.5 these are under

#: client/gui-gtk-2.0/caravan_dialog.c:102
#: client/gui-win32/dialogs.c:1050
#: client/gui-xaw/dialogs.c:455
#: client/gui-gtk-2.0/caravan_dialog.c:116
#: client/gui-win32/dialogs.c:1061
#: data/Freeciv.in:2266

In the POT from 2.3.0 it's under

#: client/gui-gtk-2.0/caravan_dialog.c:102 client/gui-xaw/dialogs.c:455
#: client/gui-gtk-2.0/caravan_dialog.c:116 data/Freeciv.in:2266

A minor thing, really. IMHO, changing the "caravan" to "unit" would probably
do the trick (I did it in the Polish translation as a makeshift solution). I'm
not sure if this should be touched in S2_2, since there are only few days left
to v. 2.2.6, but S2_3 could benefit from it in the long run.

[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #17515] Add README to http://download.gna.org/freeciv/modinst/

2011-06-25 Thread Jacob Nevins

Follow-up Comment #6, bug #17515 (project freeciv):

Not if the default value for IndexIgnore is in effect -- that matches
"README*".

Since Gna has FancyIndexing

enabled, if we knew or were able to control the value of HeaderName
 (or
ReadmeName
), we
could get the file content directly in the index, without the user having to
click.

Do we know if download.gna.org honours .htaccess
 files, allowing
options to be tweaked? (Is this something I have the privileges to experiment
with? I haven't checked.)

Follow-up Comment #1:

Attached a patch which fixes this for (hopefully) all server settings, plus
(inevitably) a number of unrelated issues discovered on the way through (and
improvements to TRANS comments).

Touches about 12 strings on S2_3, about half of which had the reported issue.

I've moved all MD5'ing into the core code as part of bug #18170.

Details:

Some POT file entries lack single quotation marks around option names. A
minor thing, but since the convention throughout the game is to provide
variable names within single quotation marks, not having them is potentially
misleading.

The option names are 'fulltradesize' and 'notradesize', the strings in
question are under:

#: server/settings.c:1358
#: server/settings.c:1368
#: server/settings.c:1369

[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #18177] Diplomacy menu hard to find

2011-06-25 Thread Jacob Nevins

Follow-up Comment #1, bug #18177 (project freeciv):

Another similar report in this thread
.

That user was using Ubuntu 11.04. There's a known issue that makes several UI
elements essential for Diplomacy completely inaccessible in that version of
Ubuntu; see bug #18260. I wonder if that's what's behind all these reports?

[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #18260] Trouble with menubars in Unity desktop environment

2011-06-25 Thread Jacob Nevins

Follow-up Comment #1, bug #18260 (project freeciv):

I've done some more investigation, and reported in the upstream bug.
Important points:
* This _does_ affect the default desktop install of Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty). So,
pretty serious.
* Among other things, it makes the Nations tab Diplomacy menu inaccessible,
making it impossible to initiate or break treaties with other players. I
wonder if this is behind the various users complaining that they can't find
the Diplomacy menu (cf bug #18177)?
* However, on Natty (unlike the earlier Maverick) the main menu bar is fine.
