My understanding is that the whole point of the "dual USB" was a way to try to sneak around the current limitations imposed on each port. If each USB is limited to 500mA then using two theoretically bumps the ceiling to 1 A. How well this would work in practice when dealing with whatever causes the losses in long cable runs, well I never did have any intuition for electric circuits. I think it's simpler to just use a hub ... or migrate to USB 3.0 ( 3 > 2 therefore all scenarios will "work" better. ;-) -irrational john -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. Not sure how that would work. You'd be stealing, or at least trying to steal, extra power from the bus that already can't handle the load of the longer cable run and the devices connected. Either use a shorter extension, or a powered hub. - Dan. -- - Psychoceramic Emeritus; South Jersey, USA, Earth. -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
