 Hello fellow gamers,

I am having problems playing Private Detective School. According to the
Word manual there is a cluebook on code Factory's web site, but I cannot
find it. Does anyone have a copy or know where I can get it? I need some
hints to know what to do in the game. I would appreciate any help you can
 give me. Thanks in advance.

 Best wishes,

 Clive Pallett

[Audyssey] The Hattrick team comes out with a new game... again

2007-08-18 Thread Orin
Hi all.

They braught you Hattrick. They braught you Popomundo. Now here comes another
one. BasketSim.

As the name suggests, this game puts you in control of a basketball team, of at
the start, 12 players, as you buy players you get more and sell it decreases
but by default you get 12.

The reason I say that it's the hattrick team again is because the forums look
exactly the same as Popomundos and Hattricks. The match reports are detailed,
similar to their flagship product. Though I might add that this is the most
detailed they're ever gonna get I think.

The matches do have a few typos, but you can easally know what they mean, and
there's a new match engine coming next season, and I think the off-season is
now so any players who want to start managing a team should start now.

This game's got a big playerbase and is bound to grow, especially with how fast
popomundo whent up the ranks.

If you want to have a friendly with me, my team name is OAS. Also, I'll add
that this is probably one of the teams best games for screen readers.
Everything is labled with heading, which is almost the same as hattrick but
better here.
Here's the link:

http://www.basketsim.com

Enjoy. Hope to see ya on the court.

Re: [Audyssey] STFC installation issue.

2007-08-18 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Christopher,
Keep in mind the proper order for installing STFC is this.

1. Install .Net 2.0.
2. Install DirectX 9.0C (June 2007) or later.
3. Install STFC 1.0.

If you didn't install in exactly that order that is most likely the
cause for your crash.
Finally, I'd like to point out STFC 1.2 is about to come out in a few
hours. Once I update the web site, finish with the manual, compile the
installer, etc it will be out the door.
So hold onto your seat for 1.2 to be out in a little while.

Re: [Audyssey] can't get the new sounjd pack to work with soundRTS

2007-08-18 Thread SoundMUD
SoundRTS beta 8 (test version) doesn't use wav files but ogg files and
plays them at 44.1 Khz. The sound pack will need to use ogg files
(converted from 44.1 Khz wav files).

I included the version 3 of the sound pack in the beta 8. To activate
it, go to the options menu and select the sound pack, then save your
options. There will be a little delay while the sounds are reloaded.

$5 for pinball tables is not a bad price, and these are very good, so, if
you already have Pinball Xtreme, I suggest you buy the party pack and
increase the number of tables by a third.

 Hi Lisa,
Actually, Old MMan Stanley is part of the ESP Pinball Xtreme Party Pack.
Unfortunately it only icludes three new tables, which I suppose is why I
haven't bought it yet, although now that I've thought about it I may just
 go
ahead and do so. I believe it only costs $14.95, but you can't try before
you buy, which is probably another reason I haven't bought it.
It ain't pretty when the pretty leaves you with no place to go.

You bet. It would get stuck just left of the bedroom door and the
entertainment center area near the wires. Luckily it didn't hit the
wires when it got stuck. I must admit that by the time I had played 5
hours, I was actually finding ways to lose because at one point I had
like 85 extra balls and every now and then, it would get stuck again,
gaining me another 15 or 20 balls. It was insane.

Re: [Audyssey] STFC installation issue.

2007-08-18 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Christopher,
Oh, I see your problem now. Understand that file on my web site is a
self extracting file. What it does, and all it does is extracts the
setup files to a temp directory. You have to manually go to that folder
and run setup.exe to actually do the install. Your DirectX is not
installed as of this point, because all you did was extract it not
install it.
I think I am going to extract that stupid file, and make a setup for it
so end users stop making this common mistake. For whatever reason that
is the way MS made the installer, and I hate it. G Sometimes MS
really ticks me off.

Hi,

PS

I'm working on a new setup for DirectX using the Aug 2007 eddition, and
hope to have it posted soon. I'll let the list know when the new and
improved setup is up.
The Aug eddition installer I am going to custom make won't have this
goofie issue where it extracts the files only, and forces you to find
the dxsetup.exe file manually to install. It will just do it.
I'm also adding in the multilanguage eddition so all should be cool here
very soon.

This has happened for so many peasants now that I lost count. Is it

For some odd reason, my email concerning this wasn't posted. think I used

  Hey all,
Just in case you guys aren't aware, speed runs refer to a person
  completing
a game as quickly as possible with few mistakes. it's basically another
  way
of competing. I was just thinking that it would be great to start an audio
games speed running site where people could upload their game runs. the
fastest speedrun stays up on the site, and then others try beating the
  time
record. They have such a service for sighted gamers called the speed demos
archive, and I thought it would be cool to start one for blind players. Is
anyone interested in doing this? we'd need someone willing to host the
  files
  and set up the site.

2007-08-18 Thread shaun everiss
good you are using ogg files.
They are a bit bigger but with the 200kbps you can squeze out of them
these are good.
I have a load of stuff in mp3 but a load of albums are in ogg.
The only trouble is they are slow to incode, at full strength.
At 06:09 a.m. 19/08/2007, you wrote:

SoundRTS beta 8 (test version) doesn't use wav files but ogg files and

I included the version 3 of the sound pack in the beta 8. To activate
it, go to the options menu and select the sound pack, then save your
options. There will be a little delay while the sounds are reloaded.

Heh. The original reason for having the knight there was to dislodge a hord
of some seven peasants or so who had taken over the gold mine for their
use--either that or the wood. He did that easily, without getting
scratched. It was after when I noticed him killing a peasant roughly every
fifteen seconds or so.

Cheers,

Re: [Audyssey] SoundRTS Latest Test: Wow, the AI loves slaughter!

2007-08-18 Thread SoundMUD
Zack probably wanted to protect his peasants who were exploiting the
goldmine or the woods in c2.

The AI wanted to exploit the goldmine too (the other goldmines being
exhausted), and while the peasants are fleeing when they find the
knight, the computer finds these idle peasants and ask them to exploit
the goldmine. When the knight is near enough from the entrance of the
square, the peasants have no time to flee and die. On the other hand,
as soon as a combat takes place somewhere, the AI sends all its troops
to this square, so some enemy footmen probably arrived there after
some time.

Of course many things can be done to improve the AI. I will decide
soon in what order I will add which features (tutorial,
editor/language, improved multiplayer game, save game, replay game,
observer mode, improved AI, etc).

By the way, I'm almost sure the AI in its current form doesn't love or
enjoy anything, but I bet you are aware of it already.

Unfortunately it only icludes three new tables, which I suppose is why I

 go
ahead and do so. I believe it only costs $14.95, but you can't try before
you buy, which is probably another reason I haven't bought it.

  Hey all,
Just in case you guys aren't aware, speed runs refer to a person
  completing
a game as quickly as possible with few mistakes. it's basically another
  way
of competing. I was just thinking that it would be great to start an

Re: [Audyssey] Looking for Other MUDs

2007-08-18 Thread Scott Shade
Hello Missy. This is Scott.
How do you manage to navigate around that huge world? The city itself is
quite vast I can't remember the specific name. Anc morporc or something
like that. I could never keep my orientation there. I tried a mage or
something and that took forever to get started. They said I should have
gone with warrior as my first character or something. I tend to like magic
though quite a bit though.

Hi! I didn't see the start of this thread, so if this has already been
mentioned, I apologize. I just would like to recommend Discworld. It is by
far my favorite mud right now. There aren't any race choices, everyone is
human, but the game itself, to me at least is highly enjoyable, especially
if you're a fan of the discworld novels. Being familiar with the novels
definitely isn't manditory, and you can roleplay as much or as little as
you like. A google search will provide you with tons of resources for
making your play time on discworld as enjoyable as possible, and there are
a lot of really friendly people there.
Anyway, for anyone who might be interested in checking this mud out, the
 address is discworld.imaginary.com, port 23.
My character is Eponine, and I'm more than happy to help any newbies out
 if
I can. In fact, I'm getting ready to go to a friend's house tomorrow so
that I can try to teach her how to play.
I hope this recommendation helps somebody find a new game to enjoy, and
that everyone is having a wonderful day.
 Missy
