Hi Josh, Nice game! BTW I will either resend you the pup1.mp3 file a bit later, or record and send you a new one of how the Puppy1 game is coming along. Pretty much have one level done. Well I don't have the spin and crash sound in yet or you getting shot down if you do not shoot the enemy down. But your plane is now flying in a 3d way and your bullets are as well. And all of the collision detection is in. As is the targeting assist sound. Adding more levels is going to be a challenge. And all of the stuff to make it a public release will take lots of time as well. But it is all working out at least as well as I was hoping. The Accessible News Wire April 13, 2008, Indianapolis, Indiana USA Chess has been defined many ways but most will agree that it is not merely an idle amusement but essentially in its essence it is a game, in its form an art, and in its execution a science. Several very valuable qualities of the mind, useful in the course of human life, are to be acquired or strengthened by it, so as to become habits, ready on all occasions. the current form of the game emerged in Southern Europe during the second half of the 15th century after evolving from similar, much older games of Indian and Persian Origin dating back somewhere before 600 A.D.. Today, while chess is one of the world's most popular games, played by millions of people worldwide in clubs, online, by correspondence, in tournaments and informally, only a limited number believe that it can be played and enjoyed by individuals who are blind. Anna Dresner and Alan Dicey will demonstrate to the Tek Talk audience that Whether you're new to chess or a seasoned player, blindness does not have to stop you from playing, and playing well. It really is a game that can be played effectively and enjoyed by those who are totally blind. IN their presentation, they will describe adaptive chess sets, discuss playing as a blind person, tell you where to get free lessons, and suggest lots of ways to meet other players - sighted and blind, from the U.S. and elsewhere - and develop your skills via e-mail, voice chat, and computer chess programs. Re: [Audyssey] STFC 2.
Hi Aaron, Considering the enemies Enterprise E was designed to fight it is no wonder the Star Trek creators got rid of the D and created the E. In First Contact it had to take on the Borg and thus the extra firepower really came in handy. Star Trek 9 was not all that noteworthy so the E's firepower didn't have much to do in that movie. In Nemesis though the Enterprise E was once again up against an enemy that would normally take an entire fleet to destroy. Valiant8086 (on laptop) wrote: Hi. I was thinking the e. It seams to be able to pack one heck of a punch. It can't move as fast as the defiant and it can't cloak but hmm. Actually for me it's the E or the Defiant. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can make changes or update your subscription via the web, at http://audyssey.org/mailman/listinfo/gamers_audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] STFC 2.
Hi, Actually, in terms of maneuverability Defiant is the ship to have in a fight. It is smaller, faster, and the DS9 tech manual gives it unusually high ratings for a ship its size. The Enterprise E's engines aren't all that much different than a modified Galaxy-class warp drive. As for missions etc all of this is still in the planning and thinking stage. It is possible I might create two star Trek games. One strategy game like classic STFC since I still like STFC 1, and then a bridge commander or fleet commander type game. As far as other ships goes I am not yet certain. It would be nice to have a full real time strategy game where you command multiple ships like commanding tanks in GTC. Dakotah Rickard wrote: Frankly, I'd like the variety you could get with NCC1701E. The Sovereign class was lighter and more maneuverable than the Galaxy class or the Defiant class Escort ship. I do, however, ask one question...will there be AI friends? Say a couple of Akira class or something to help you out some times like in the sighted games Bridge and Fleet Commanders? I mean, having no backup in a rather large organization is a little odd. Wait, I just thought of another question. Will you incorporate training missions or simulated combat to prepare us? Also, I read a few of the other posts for dealing with using multiple ship types, and I'm not trying to tell you how to do your job, but it seems that if you just forget about the Defiant class, pretty much every other ship class is the same basic structure but with variations in armament and armor. Could you, for example, make something like a basic class Federation_Ship or something that has code that applies to all ships and just switch out armament and speed and such for different ships? Just a thought. Hi everyone, Over the passed couple of months I have been tinkering with STFC 2.0 off and on. Unlike STFC 1.x STFC 2.0 is going to be a real time action game. Instead of commanding several bases, ships, etc you will be in charge of commanding a single ship throughout the various missions. However, that is about as far as I have got with the basic idea for the game. One question remains which ship to use. I personally want to stick with something Next Generation era and that pretty much narrows it down to Enterprise NCC-1701-D or Enterprise NCC-1701-E. Though, thje U.S.S. Defiant is also an option here. Each ship is good, but all depends on if you want a television series type plot or a movie plot. Each ship is unique. Enterprise NCC-1701-D, as seen on Star Trek Next Generation, is a Galaxy-Class cruiser. Armorment includes 250 photon torpedoes, 9 deep space probes, standard type-x phasers, and shields were rated at 2026 gigawatts. Maximum achieved speed on STNG was warp 9.6 for 12 minutes. Not bad, but after the movies came out the Enterprise E has really made the television series sound sort of lame. Enterprise NCC-1701-E, as seen in Star Trek 8, 9, and 10 has far more fire power than its earlier name sake. The latest Enterprise comes armed with 325 photon torpedoes, 175 quantum torpedoes, type-x phasers, ablative hull armor, and shield strength is 5056 gigawatts. Maximum rated speed is warp 9.7. As you can see the newer Enterprise has far more armor, firepower, speed, etc. The U.S.S. Defiant, seen on Star Trek Deep Space 9, certainly has its own interesting abilities and features. It comes armed with a cloaking device, 60 quantom torpedoes, 30 photon torpedoes, type-u phaser cannon, ablative hull armor, and shields are rated as 2026 gigawatts. Maximum known speed is warp 9.985. Definitly not bad ship specs if you ask me. I guess what I am asking if you had to pick one which ship would you choose. If you choose Defiant chances are I would make most of the missions take place during the dominion war so you can slug it out with Jem'hadar fighters, Breen Battle Cruisers, and Cardassian Cruisers. If you pick Enterprise D I would make the missions play out more-or-less like the tv series with each mission have its own bad guys, mission orders, etc. With the Enterprise E we could go either way. The Enterprise E was constructed just before the Dominion War, served through the Dominion War, and seen action after the Dominion War. Cheers. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can make changes or update your subscription via the web, at http://audyssey.org/mailman/listinfo/gamers_audyssey.org. Hi, I believe I had all of those games at one time or another. Like a lot of kids of the 80's we traded games around a lot after we got tired of them. Hi james. I'm booked off sick until 5 may. I'm spending the time with my mom. I don't have the setup file for the old version of lightcars here. When i get home i'll send it to you. Hi all. I was thinking about light cars again. Another way of getting far in the game is if lighttechinteractive could add a pilot to the game. corrections: when i saved my game, quit the program, launch it again and load my game i again got holes and item cars. The holes is tricky. If a hole is in the middle track and i'm on the left track, i fall in a hole. And no, i didn't skit to the middle when this happens. I get no more bonus rounds. Personally its impossible for me to really enjoy light cars without this cheet. To have 5 lives and quickly loose all of them by crashing the whole time Is not fun. So now I have specified 9 thousand lives. At first I tried 9 billion lives but the game didn't want to load my game so I tried 9 million but still it didn't want to load so I tried 9 thousand and it worked. When I play light cars like this, it gives me the feeling I'm having a bumper car ride at a fun fair. But I'm still disappointed. I only get hazards and item cars as far as level 20. from then onwards no item cars and hazards appears which makes the game pretty borring. All right, I can stay for extremely long in the game if I have 9 thousand lives but to crash all the time and avoid cars without any item cars or hazards gets pretty borring. And there is also a bug with the bonus round. When I shoot a bird when its in the dead centre, I miss it. I manage to shoot when it's a bit off to the right and the manual said the bird must be in the dead centre for you to shoot it. I can't understand why the gaming community needs games without an end; with unlimited levels. For me a game with an end is nice. If I know I can beat a game it gives me satisfaction. These games such as light cars which have no ending, it feels like a supernatural thing I can't beat. Its like the game has a supernatural power in it. But if there is anyone like me who don't enjoy light cars with only 5 lives, feel free to ask me for the previous version. I'll gladly give it as well as explain how to specify the number of lives. Once I'm an expert at avoiding cars I'll move on to the newer version where the cheet won't work. But a cloud with a silver lining though. The cars will change speed twice and from then onwards it stays the same. With this cheet on, I noticed that the fastest a car will come at you is one second per car. I think my score is above 119000 at this stage. Too bad I can't post my score. Or to tell the truth I haven't tried to post my score but I doubt if I can post my score with the old version. Re: [Audyssey] STFC 2.
Hi Darren, The founders fear of solids is definitely a lot like human nature. Humanity as a rule fears that which we don't understand, pre-judge others based on generalities, and always think our actions are morally justified even when that view might be in the wrong. In this respect using the founders to show us our own short-comings is a very powerful lesson in how not to be so judgmental and why not to view everything simply as black and white. The sad truth is world history has proven time and time again that whenever a large group of people take a black and white view of things, there can be no other view accepted, that it ends in lots of bloody and painful conflict. For example, Christianity in its purest form attempts to teach people to love one another, to love our enemies, how to settle differences peacefully if possible, etc. However, historically speaking it is the religion at the root of some of the most bloody conflicts of all time. During the 12th and 13th centuries the Catholic church sent troops to capture Palestine, and make it a Catholic state. All involved believed that it was God's will, and they set out for bloodshed, murder, on a scale too horrifying to consider. A captured prisoner was ordered to become Catholic or die. Many Jews, Muslims, and even other Christians were killed by the thousands because they didn't want the Catholic church sticking its nose into their business. Later during the reformation thousands of protestants were hunted down and burned at the stake all for the crime of wanting a Christianity based on biblical principles and not one dictated by the Pope. So the irony is while these Catholics claimed to be Christians they were willing to kill other Christians, Jews, etc in order to prove might makes right. On September 11, 2001 a handful of Muslim extremists thought they would make their public statement by taking down the twin towers and hitting the Pentagon. What did their religious act of hate prove? I don't know, but it does show what length human beings will go to when they make religion, politics, etc an absolutely black and white issue. Darren Haris wrote: Actually I liked ds9, because ok yes it was based on a war theme by the end of it, still, even in the most peaceful places there is still going to be the threat of war from somewhere. Even if earth never actually felt the apressions of war, someone has to. There will always be someone who wants what you have or is afraid enough of you to try and get rid of you 1 way or other. The founders fear of solids because of how they were treated by the solids in their part of space, etc etc there's a lot of things you could take from ds9. personally I think it was very well written. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can make changes or update your subscription via the web, at http://audyssey.org/mailman/listinfo/gamers_audyssey.org. [Audyssey] feedback to the claudiogames company
Hello claudio I'm very excited to know that you are a new amature developer. Its always an excitement to know that a new developer is appearing on the sceen. What genres of games are you considering to develop: side scrollers? Rpg? 3d? strategy? Card games? Typing games? Word games? Space invader games? Beatable games with a number of levels? Unbeatable games with unlimited levels which just gets harder and harder? Motor racing games? Dice games? I'm very excited. I'm looking much forward to your first game, even if its just a little one to show us what you're up to. Its always fun to try out new freebees. I personally would like games for my mobile phone. I have a smart phone, the nokia91. Correct me if I'm wrong willem but I think the n91 is not synbian, its windows. I would like a side scroller or word games for my phone. When I'm visiting family where there is no pc it will be very nice to play games on my phone. I have a suggestion for you. Start with something vary simple which makes use of a sound panning from left to right where the gamer must catch the object before it passes the dead centre. The freebee community can do with some more panning games. Here is 2 examples. I'm not aware if this nursery rhyme is popular in Switzerland but here goes: Humty dumty, sat on a wall Humty dumty, had a great fall. All the king's horses And all the king's men Couldn't get humpty Together again. Humty dumty is a little egg man. In this game your task is to prevent it from sitting on the wall. He climbed up a wall and he is moving to the right where the edge is comfortable for him to sit on, but you must defeat him several times by catching him. Simply catch him while he is in the middle of your speaker field. You will hear the sound of a clarinet as he's moving towards the right. If you manage to catch him, you will hear his sound of disappointment and your character assuringly telling him he will fall to pieces if he sits on that wall and everybody loves a little egg man. , but if you don't manage, you'll hear the nursery rhyme spoken with sound effects such as an egg tumbling to the ground, horses trotting and the king's men talking. Another suggestion is 2 little frogs. 2 little frogs are taunting you that you can't catch them. One of them is jumping from left to right and one is jumping from right to left, catch each frog before it passes the centre. You'll have to catch them several times to defeat or convince them that you are able to catch little frogs. Hoep these suggestions helped. Good luck with your hobby/career of developing games. I'm very excited, I hope everything goes well. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can make changes or update your subscription via the web, at http://audyssey.org/mailman/listinfo/gamers_audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] donaate or not? What do you need?
Hi Kuvvosh, Couldn't have said that better myself. The fact the matter here is that the blind gaming market is a very small market. That is just targeting the largest majority of Windows PCs. When you begin targeting Mac, Linux, and cell phones you are moving into smaller and smaller markets. As Kuvvosh correctly pointed out while the number of blind Mac and Linux users are growing none that I personally know of are Linux or Mac exclusive. The Mac users I know have Windows XP running as a virtual machine on top of Mac Os Leopard so they can get the most out of both. The Linux people I know, myself included, usually have a PC running Windows and one running Linux. Some have a multiboot so they can start the os they want. My point being is I myself had to come to terms with these factors. Is there a specific reason to target the minority markets? I've been researching the idea of making OS indipendant games for the last four months and even using a language like Java to do it games are just too dependant on hardware and software specs to be good multiplatform software. For example, using a language like C++ with DirectX 3D graphics and sound there is not no doubt you will find the required hardware and software requirements on a lot of Windows systems. However, try the same on Linux and 3D audio support on Linux is pretty nill. That means you will have to convert your game over to stereo panning only which reduces quality and that is just because the 3D audio support isn't yet their for Linux users. Kuvvosh: At Home wrote: Hi again Claudio. As Thomas has pointed out before. The blind game market is sadly small in retrospect. As far as making games for Cimbian, Windows Mobile and Windows Smart phones. You are taking a lot to chew on, and this would not be wise for a company start up projections. I know on the Windows Smart Phone side, most phones only have 50 meg storage with out a flash card, and most of that is used to keep programs in memory while the phone on, so it would be a hard thing to do to make a game that is worth wild to buy for a cell phone, which will change some times soon, as Phones become more and more like a laptop these days. Also not to mention so many configuration on phone keys it would be a hard thing to make a game that would play smoothly with some only have a numb keypad and others with a querty keyboard. Mac, and Linux, are going to be even harder, as I'm guessing 1 percent of blind or VI people even use one. And even if they do, I'm betting they have a Standard PC next to them when they can't do what they need with the other computer. As every one on this list as said before, you have yet to come out with a game or some sort of project that shows that you are able to do as what your company has planned. I would suggest coming out with games that are simple, and yet have not came out for the blind, and work your way up. That way you gain Knowledge, Collections of resources, and above all else Customers who know you are a company or person that is able to deliver the product as promise. I write Stories, Articals, and soon to be publish book. I never once asked for donations or jump in and fork out huge amount of money to publish my own book. would be nice tom. I also like defient and its highpulse cannons but the fact I have prity no missiles does still make me choose enterprise e, I'd also like defient, however its dificult to judge since in stfc1 if you lose shields you are basically dead. And I don't think defient has armour anyway. Sure its faster I'll grant you that. But in stfc1 you don't have auxiliry power. You just have main. At 11:03 a.m. 19/04/2008, you wrote: Hi, Actually, in terms of maneuverability Defiant is the ship to have in a fight. The Enterprise E was constructed just before the Dominion War, served through the Dominion War, and seen action after the

The federation and klingons do actually wise up though to the fact hte romulans are just wanting the entire game though. This was with the enterprise e. Really though who knows. My point is that in all the trek things although there are pockets of good romulans the majority of klingons still want to kill romulans and vice versa, except the romulans want the whole thing, and the federation is in the middle of both parties and seem to be something to chuck around. Re: [Audyssey] donaate or not? What do you need?
well I use windows. tried linux but for now its windows. maybe, just maybe if I can be bothered if i buy myself a new vist/xp box before xp goes out of production I may use linux on one unit. My issue is with all the extra devices on this desk I really only have room for 1 unit at a time. I have been given a chance to publish my first Book, simply because I've was contacted by a publisher, who was willing on funding my hobby. I be honest, I started out my own Small Engine Business a few years ago. Did I make lots of money, no. I've went into the red zone for nearly 2 years, and finally got out of the zone just sticking it out. Sure I got help from the state and so forth, I didn't make money for over 2 years. [Audyssey] Magic Duel
Hi all, Has anyone tried this game out? It's at: http://www.magicduel.com, and even though it says it's got artwork and graphics and things, it does have a pretty big storyline, and I just wonder if these graphics have alt tags. You guys can try and login to the guest account if you can get things working. I know they need to fix the fact that us blind users don't have accessible captchas. Or rather, captcha since there's only one, but that's beside the point. See if anyone can get, with or without sighted assistance, the supposed scroll you're supposed to click on on some sort of table to get the game started. I atempted contacting them at [EMAIL PROTECTED] since I thought this was the main address, but guess not. This game has more game reviews than I've seen in a while, and it has some pretty nifty music when the website loads. Take a look around and see if any of you can contact the developers. From what I gather, this game isn't number crunching. Orin [EMAIL PROTECTED] MSN: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Skype: orin1112 Do you like mudding?
