[Audyssey] Kitchens Inc Games was tdv?

2009-04-17 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Ron,
The problem is that Vista's new user account control management will
not allow you to unzip files to the c:\Program Files directory as a
standard user. You need to run the setup as administrator or disable
user account control to install Jim's games under Vista.
For example, arrow to one of Jim's games and press the context menu key.
In that pull down menu you will get an option for Run as Administrator.
Press enter. UAC will ask you to confirm this action. Tell it to
continue and then the file will unzip in the c:\Program
Files\Kitchinsinc folder normally.
Now, rather than installing your games to c:\Program Files I recommend
installing to

c:\Users\Your User Name\Games
for one very important reason. Windows Vista user account control will
not allow you to save settings, save games, etc to the c:\Program Files
directory. Save games etc need to be saved in your App Data directory or
somewhere else in your local home directories. If this all sounds too
confusing and you want Windows XP functionality back do yourself a favor
and turn UAC management off.
You can do this by going to the control panel, selecting user accounts,
and going to user account control. Uncheck it, restart, the system and
problem is gone.

Smile.

Re: [Audyssey] tdv?

2009-04-17 Thread Jim Kitchen

Hi Ron,

You might want to try my newer version of the game of life. It is on my tts
games page in the file winlife3.exe. I think, hope that it will work better
for you. And below is what I tell people that are running Vista as far as how
to get my tts WinZip games to install.

The first thing that you need to do is to run the setup.exe file in the
winkit.zip file as it installs files that the rest of the games need. So open
the winkit.zip file, press S and then enter. The winkit.zip file is the first
link on my free windows text to speech games page.

The rest of my games require full administration rights to
install. To do this arrow to the games installation file, press the
Windows context menu key, arrow to run as administrator, and press
enter. This will allow you to install the game as administrator. Or you can just turn off the whole User Account Control thing in Vista and it will do the same thing.

I hope that helps.

Subject: [Audyssey] LWorks says goodbye to machine based licensing, and
hello to a new Judgment day

One of the major complaints that gamers have had is that all of LWork's
games use a machine-based licensing system. This system was originally
written to discourage piracy. In theory, it was a great system, but
leaves

a lot to be desired when it comes to ease of registration. So I'm
announcing that today, all future titles from LWorks will use a
user-based
licensing system. My plan is to release an updated version of Judgment
day
some time this month that will use this user-based system. There will be
no

more machine-based codes, and no need to constantly email support for new
codes. I'm hoping that this will help gamers overall who don't want to
have

to wait to get replacement keys. there will also be a few other small
features that will be in the next release, so stay tuned.

It depends on what system they're for. Rise to Honor is a ps2 game I
believe, so odds are it would be. any ps1 game wouldn't be accessible
though, and I believe there's some backwards compatibility issues with some
ps2 games, though I'm not entirely certain.
