see, I don't mind a mud that has a lot of killing I am willing to do that.
However, I also want more substance then that. I mean, after a while, just
killing gets tedius and boring. I like to have a choice. If I am in the
mood

for killing I can, but if I want to solve a puzzle or perform a quest I
want

to have to ability to do that as well. I would really love a game with a
developing story line. One that changes depending on what the player base
contributes. one that may not necessarily have an end, since if it did you
couldn't continuely play. But, one that has more of a story line that
isn't

so open ended. And from my experience, all muds are that way. As I said, I
like the epic quest fantasy things like ff or zelda, or lunar. Games I
will

never have the opportunity to play. I do agree with you though, about some
muds being hard to get into b/c of how complex and stuff it is. That also
is

a big reason why I don't et going. i will start a mud and then I don't
feel

like trying to learn all the commands so stop. lol

I too prefer a mud that's easy to play, and based mostly on killing and
requires no accessive thoughts and other complicated things.
My idea is that, if I want social interaction and realism, I would just
get out of the house. So, since killing is something I, we, don't get to
do in real---at least not that often I hope, it is my main focus during
gaming.
This is not to say that I do not enjoy RP, but too much of it make my
head

hurts and tend to send me packing from the computer for hours...
Also, some of these complex muds take so long to get into that one almost
needs a master's degree to play them well rofl.
So I guess I'm in the H and S camp, muds that allow me to log on, kill
something or, things, for half a hour, and log off without having to
think

about it till the next time I want to play- and for that, Aeon and
Cyberassault are great examples.
Well, as long as you don't get into the clan themes on Aeon, you would be
fine.
I used to enjoy the shadowrun muds, both awakened world and awake, but
then both muds required so much of me that I decided it was time to move
on.
I still have bad dreams of the awake days where I had to sit in front of
the comp for 6 hours just to RP something through!
No one ever kicked ass by saying I can't.

Hi guys,
For those of you into strategic gameplay with friends and strangers
online, you outta come check out Blind Adrenaline's card room.
We've now got draw poker up there and its working well, so now we offer
hearts, hold em and draw poker.
You can create your own tables with your own rules for each of the games,
so for instance you can make a draw poker game with $500 antes and select
from either draw 3, draw 4 to an ace, or draw 5.
You can also play sit and go style with both poker games, which are like
mini tournaments where you put up an entry fee, and the top 3 finishers
split the winnings up amongst themselves. This is a very popular way for
folks to play not only on my site, but also on real money sites.

If you haven't checked it out yet, go on over to
http://www.blindAdrenaline.com/cardRoom
and get yourself a free 14 day trial.
after that, it is only $3.95 a month.
Oh yeah, also forgot to mention we now have built in voice chat if you
like to talk to your friends while playing.
Tons of other stuff I've not mentioned here, but you can get all details
on the card room site.
We hold tutorial sessions on various voice chat sites from time to time
as well for those of you not familiar with the card games, so don't stay
away just because you don't know how to play yet.

Feel free to ask me if you have any questions.
Hope to see you on the tables soon.

Re: [Audyssey] game cycle?

2009-08-11 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Charles,
As a matter of fact that's almost exactly how I am. I'll play something
like SoundRTS for a week or two, get burned out, play Chess or Uno, get
burned out, and play something else. Eventually, the cycle will start
over. It is actually difficult for a game to keep my attention for very
long.
Take Sryth for example. While I truely enjoy the game I go through
spells where I play it almost every day, and then there will be a spell
where I don't do anything with my character for a month. Then, one
weekend I'll find myself board, login, and play actively for a week or
so before growing board with it again.
This so-called cycle is what makes it hard for me to complete a game
like Jim's NFL Football game. I'll start out a season make it through 6
or 10 games and get board off my rear. Perhaps a month later I'll start
playing and resume the season again losing my momentum and drive to
make it to the Super Bowl. I've litterally had a game of football last a
year before i made it to the Super Bowl, because even though I like the
game it can't keep my attention for very long. I'll play a couple of
games and not pick it up again for weeks .
Although, I am pretty sure why this happens. The bottom line is there
aren't very many accessible games that truly satisfies me. Before I lost
my vision I was into games like Tomb Raider, Jedi Knight, the original
Heroes Might and Magic, Mech Warrior, and various other games that were
out in the mid 1990's. There are very few accessible games that really
compare. Shades of Doom and GMA Tank Commander are the closest I can
think of which is why I purchased both as soon as I could. I don't
personally get the same entertainment or satisfaction out of playing
Uno, Hearts, Aliens in the Outback, etc. The games are good in their own
way, but not my cup of tea.

Smile.

 Hi Michael,
To use the steering wheel, you just plug it in and go pretty much. You can

set your own keys to the buttons on the wheel, depending on how many your
wheel has.
I use the logiTech Momo wheel myself, which is pretty popular, and you can

assign all the important readout keys to the buttons on the wheel.
The game is $39.95 and the file size is around 30Mb.
You can download a demo and find out more about the game at
www.blindAdrenaline.com
Keep in mind the demo is fairly old and just gives you a taste of the
game, no online racing or the ability to really customize and all to your
rail racer as in the full version.
Also, this is a game that takes practice to get good at, but because of
that, you will be able to play it and get enjoyment out of it far longer
than most audio games, especially once you start creating your own tracks
and sharing them with friends, and playing in the online tournaments we

Re: [Audyssey] railracer

2009-08-11 Thread Scott Chesworth
Hi Pranav,

Thankfully, it's the latter option, RailRacer has it's own virtual
currency. You win money by winning races against the computer and
optionally betting against other racers online. There is a class
rating system for the tracks, the higher the class the trickier the
track, and the more virtual money it's worth to win a race on it.
There are also a few extras you only have access too once you've
worked your way up to being a certain class of racer.

In short, it's good stuff. More depth to it than a lot of audio
games, but not so much depth and technicality that it stops being fun.

[Audyssey] Magic: the Gathering

Hi everyone.

I'm wondering if there are any online venues where one can play
the card game Magic: the Gathering that are accessible to the
blind. Does anybody know of any?

[Audyssey] nentendo wii and intro

2009-08-11 Thread sal

Hello my name is Sal.
I am glad to be on this list and look forward in meeting you all.
I was wondering about the wii, I just received one today and have checked
out some of the archives on this list and the podcast on be c t.
I was wondering if the setting up of the wii out of the box is possible for
some one that is blind or is sighted help needed the instructions seem
pretty good on the Nintendo site but just curious on some more tips.
also besides the sports game what other games are as accessible in playing?
has any one played the resort game, and does the wii have that game like ps
3 with the taking of cars and shooting people in the streets of new York?

thanks for the help
Sal

Hi Charles,
As a matter of fact that's almost exactly how I am. I'll play something
like SoundRTS for a week or two, get burned out, play Chess or Uno, get
burned out, and play something else. Eventually, the cycle will start
over. It is actually difficult for a game to keep my attention for very
long.
Take Sryth for example. While I truely enjoy the game I go through spells
where I play it almost every day, and then there will be a spell where I
don't do anything with my character for a month. Then, one weekend I'll
find myself board, login, and play actively for a week or so before
growing board with it again.
This so-called cycle is what makes it hard for me to complete a game like
Jim's NFL Football game. I'll start out a season make it through 6 or 10
games and get board off my rear. Perhaps a month later I'll start playing
and resume the season again losing my momentum and drive to make it to
the Super Bowl. I've litterally had a game of football last a year before
i made it to the Super Bowl, because even though I like the game it can't
keep my attention for very long. I'll play a couple of games and not pick
it up again for weeks .
There are very few accessible games that really
compare. Shades of Doom and GMA Tank Commander are the closest I can think
of which is why I purchased both as soon as I could. I don't personally
get the same entertainment or satisfaction out of playing Uno, Hearts,
Aliens in the Outback, etc. The games are good in their own way, but not
my cup of tea.

Smile.
