Re: [Audyssey] lone wolf mission 7 - Re: games we always come backtoo?
Hi Charles, That is what I like about Lone Wolf. There is more than one way to complete a mission. I've completed mission 7 both with the deck gun and with torpedoes, and there is no right way to finish the mission as long as you destroy all the targets. Of course, what I like doing is I try different strategies each time I play to see if I can find a different way to complete the same mission rather than doing the same thing over and over again. [Audyssey] Rules for Dungeon board game
Hi all, Haven't been on the list for a while but I thought this might be interesting to anyone on the list who either has played this game before, or was thinking that it might (hopefully) make a decent audio game of some kind. Below is the send space link to the rules for an old classic game called Dungeon! by TSR. Essentially up to six layers use heros to wander around a dungeon, fighting monsters and gathering treasure and magic items. The rules include two versions of the game, the basic and expert. In the basic everyone is the same, and requires 20,000 gp to win the game. In the expert version, the players choose between warrior, wizard, thief, paladin, dwarf and elf. Each has it's own pros and cons and these may also ambush each other, or work cooperatively to fight strong monsters. My hope is that someone would read thru the rules and discover that it can be made into an audio game. The link for downloading the .rtf file is below. The direct download link is: http://www.sendspace.com/pro/dl/391onl al The truth will set you free Jesus Christ of Nazareth 33A.D. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] lone wolf mission 7 - Re: games we always comebacktoo?
Hi John, I've beaten mission 17 but you need to come up with a different strategy than trying to shoot the battleship with all the enemy ships around it. The way I have beaten that mission is to make a diversion so the fleet will break up and hunt me. While they are hunting me I'm hunting the battleship. As soon as I can get a clear shot I pump my torpedoes into it, and then evade the hunting destroyers etc. Basically, you have to be more offensive in that mission, take a more direct roll, rather than trying to shoot the battleship by getting in a lucky shot. You can't hit the battleship while its being guarded, and believe me I've tried. The only way I have beaten it is an offensive one on one battle with the fleet. Now, obviously the way I do it is extremely dangerous, gutsy, but the objective is to keep the escort ships occupied looking for my sub while I sneak in as close as I dare to put three or four torpedoes into the battleship. If that fleet forms back up and leaves the area the game is pretty much over because there is no way to chase them down.So you have to keep them hunting and seeking while looking for openings to hit the battleship. I've gotten good at these sort of offensive attacks. On 6/11/12, john jpcarnemo...@comcast.net wrote: While we're on the subject, have any of you managed mission 17? Re: [Audyssey] Swamp
Hi, Nicole Thompson-Andrews asked: What is Swamp? Swamp is a real time online fps, or first person shooter. The game play is not pvp, but against computer controlled zombies. You are situated in a town over run by zombies, with only a safe zone for safety. There are multiple buildings and areas to explore. You start out with a pistol, 55 bullets, and 1 med kit. Your mission is to survive. You do this by collecting ammo and weapons from the corpses of dead zombies. You gain reputation and experience with each kill. Reputation acts as credit towards quests, missions, and helps you buy certain items in the safe zone. As you gain experience points, you level up. Currently there are 4 multiplayer maps, 5 mission maps, and 8 different types of zombies to blast away at. There is also talk about new maps and zombies on the way. The coolest thing about this game is that it is entirely free. to download the game, please go to http://www.kaldobsky.com/audiogames/ Its a whole lot of fun. Hope to see you there. Good luck. Re: [Audyssey] games we always come back too?
Hi Darren, Hmmm...Well, the biggest problem audio game developers' have is time and man power. While I love games like X-Tention and so on its a massive undertaking for any one person to do on his or her own. First, is the issue of time management. We aren't robots so can not program around the clock. We have to eat sleep, watch TV, read books, go to work, and all the normal things in life as well as pump out game x. So creating a project like that might get two or three hours of a developer's time on any given day which clearly isn't enough to create anything that complex. Its not impossible but would take so long as to make it not worth the time and effort. Second, is the issue of man power. While a developer might have the skills to write such a game it never hurts to have competent help. Someone that will be willing to take up the project and work on it in his/her free time which will reduce the amount of time and work any single developer has to perform. Unfortunately, while there are clearly several audio game developers there is a lot of problems in working together. It can be simple things like different interests to more complex problems like differences in skills. Therefore its difficult to get more than one audio game developer interested in working on the same project. However, that said, I definitely agree with you. I love large complex strategy games where I can build a seemingly endless number of bases, ships, factories, etc and have a large and complex game that takes weeks maybe even months to complete. At this point Time of Conflict is the only game that comes close to mainstream Real Time Strategy games like that, and I hate to think about how much work David Greenwood had to put into writing it. That's not a small and simple type of game to create by any means. Although, I suppose once he got the basic framework in place it was easy enough to expand it as needed. Cheers! On 6/10/12, Darren Harris darren_g_har...@btinternet.com wrote: hi tom, yeah that could be good fun. i like both team play and standalone play. it all depends on my mood really, but the 1 thing that is a must in any game for me, or i should say 2 things, is 1, a massive area to play in, 2, something that will keep you going for hours at a time and won't simply come to a dead stop. although my favourite type of game as i've mentioned with core exiles that is persistence. i love a game that you can permanently keep building and building. i remember when i used to play x-tention, i would have hundreds of factories scattered across the universe, i would spend time setting up trading and resource loops between my final product factories and resources factories. i would have fighter craft escorting my factory transport ships which were hauling resources around, i would also bottle up pirate sectors by having 20 or so fighter craft on each jumpgate that would enter/exit pirate space. not to mention automated laser towers. setting up something like that would take months and months of gameplay. once i did it, it made the whole game so easy because i became the ultimate power of the game then it did get a bit boring i admit because anything the pirates threw at me i could counter with absolute ease but having said that, the time it took to set all that up was a challenge and enjoyment all on it's own. this is something sadly that no accessible game even comes close to offering and it doesn't. sad but very true. which is why a lot of the games that don't come out don't hold my attention for long. Re: [Audyssey] lone wolf mission 7 - Re: games we alwayscomebacktoo?
Hi John, Well, its been a long time since I played that mission, but here is a basic overview of how I generally go about beating that mission. I set course for sector E-3, and wait for the enemy fleet to appear. I face north and as soon as the lead destroyers come within torpedo range I go for a couple of bow shots. I usually put one torpedo in each destroyer damaging and sometimes sinking them. Obviously, this takes some precision and practice, and rather than relying on the target tracking I just do the calculations in my head which is usually more reliable when going for bow shots. Anyway, once the lead destroyers are damaged or hopefully destroyed I dive down about 60 feet reload the two torpedoes, and begin hunting for the flagship. Obviously, its hunting me too, but as long as I'm quiet and evade I can maneuver around it and come up slowly and put all four torpedoes into its side. Worst comes to Worst I'll go for a stern shot and I've actually killed the battleship a few times from the rear. Its actually easier than the bow shots earlier because the battleship is wider and I'm less likely to miss the stern than the bow. Basically, like I said I use the destroyers as a diversion. I damage or sink them which forces the fleet to stop and search for the submarine. While the fleet is doing that I take whatever evasive measures as necessary and then move into some position to hit the battleship when it is hunting in the wrong location for me. The hardest part of all this is you have to be good at aiming and firing torpedoes, and getting tricky shots like bow and stern shots as sometimes those are the only way to hit the battleship while it is hunting. The more destroyers you sink or damage before going for the battle ship the easier it will be evading and attacking the battleship as you won't have them dropping depth charges down on your head and blowing fish out of the water. :D Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] lone wolf mission 7 - Re: games we alwayscomebacktoo?
Hi John, Nope. I tend to get directly in front of that convoy and once I make some kind of distraction I gun straight for the flagship once its escorts are elsewhere. the principle thing about mission 17 is breaking up the convoy so you can get a good solid firing solution on the flagship. Otherwise there is always some other ship in your way and you'll have to waist time and torpedoes sinking them one by one. :D Cheers! HI, Yes it is. It was intentially programmed for the visuallly impaired. It does also have some graphics with it, but by no means are spectacular ones. Quite a few sighted people play the game. But I know of one who prefers to play it stricly with the graphics off and solely by sound. I have an idea. Take and download this wwalk thru done by Drew. It just might give you an idea of what the game is like. If you want to listen to another one, just ask.
