[Audyssey] infocom collection major bug!
Hi all. I have a major bug to report with the infocom colection ibriham posted. No the files are not corrupted, but, all the scans are in picture form. Thats fine, but for games like amfv, stationfall, starcross and others there are parts that need someone to enter the right numbers to progress. I have the starcross ones somewhere but the rest well. In short I need to know what all the forms and items in the package bar manuals say, or have the pictures ocred or something. I suspect I need those. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] semi patch to the infocom collection
Hi Shaun. Thanks for the upload man, I'll take a look and see what's doing. I noticed as i prepared to upload my master Infocom archive that some of the games that should have been DE protected didn't have any info as to whether they had been. For instance as you say, in Star cross there is a chart you need to refer to at the very beginning of the game for the coordinates you need to enter in to the computer to reach your goal. Also missing is the book of treasures for Cutthroats which you need to refer to when you're planning your dive for the sunken treasure, there are two ships it could be and which ship you'll be diving for is determined at the very beginning of the game. Anyway, enough said, thanks for the file and I'll let you know if i find anything else that could enhance the archive. All the best, Ibrahim. -Original Message- From: shaun everiss Sent: Friday, November 30, 2012 9:14 AM To: gamers@audyssey.org Subject: [Audyssey] semi patch to the infocom collection Hi. Re: [Audyssey] infocom collection major bug!
Hi Lenron. Unfortunately I don't share folders anymore because of a very bad experience I had with this a few years ago, someone managed to put so much stuff in the folder that it maxed out my Dropbox space and it nearly caused me to lose files I needed for a project I was working on. I'll send you the link which now includes all the interpreters which I previously distributed separately, so anyone wanting to grab this again or who just didn't get it the first time round then help yourselves: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8rl99dbd2rnxiid/Infocom%20Collection.zip All the best, Ibrahim. -Original Message- From: lenron brown Sent: Friday, November 30, 2012 9:52 AM To: Gamers Discussion list Subject: Re: [Audyssey] infocom collection major bug! awesome thanks this would have been easier if we shared a folder lol. Re: [Audyssey] infocom collection major bug!
Hi Shaun. I will investigate and get back to you on this, I need to find out whether the games have been deprotected or not, if not then I will find accessible alternatives to the problems presented by the feelies where I can. AMFV has a file describing how it has been patched as do most of the other games, however the original compiler of the games decided to include released and patched copies just in case there were problems with interpreters not accepting the patches. The Extra Resources folder in the archive contains all the folders with a couple of exceptions of the Interactive Fiction Archive's Infocom folder and there is a patches folder in there, though whether they contain the deprotection patches or information related to them I've yet to determine but will do so over the weekend. If all this fails, have you considdered just reinstalling vip mud? though the license is indeed computer specific, the key will still work on a reinstall if you haven't changed your hardware, though as I said I'd be quite surprised if you can't just delete the appropriate files to get back to the defaults, (I had to do this with materiamagica on one occasion myself when I managed to bugger up some settings). Re: [Audyssey] a good mud client to use
Hi John. vipmud doesn't seem to have anything in there, at least not in application settings or shared documents which is where programs usually store stuff, that was indeed the first place I checked when darrent mentioned the issue sinse usually if uninstalling and reinstalling a program doesn't alter settings it's because there is a folder in aplications settings with them that needs removing, not in the case of vipmud from what I could gather though. It strikes me as very odd that you could've completely! broken vip mud, sinse all you would need to do to restore defaults is delete the star conquest folder, and maybe the start.set file as well if you did anything to the default settings that can't be restored from options. the files for the sounds you can just leave be as you wish or delete from the sounds folder, but they shouldn't make any difference if you actually delete the folders that vipmud creates for each mud with the various set files in. [Audyssey] infocom collection: files
I have several files that might help solve some of the issues here. Specifically, I have a manual for AMFV, which has a text version of the code wheel, and I have a walkthrough for cutthroats which takes the place of the mariner's book. I've also got a walkthrough for lgop somewhere which gives you the path through the maze. If anybody would like me to send you these files, let me know. I may be able to dig up more things with some time; it's been a while since I've seriously played IF. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Hi John. If you could send me the cutthroats walkthrough as I never did complete that game in all the years I've been playing IF, so it would be fun to do that. Re: [Audyssey] Seeking More Voice Volunteers for Swamp
Greetings. It's been a week since my initial e-mail on this subject, so I'd just like to remind you all that, if you'd like to get in on the Swamp community and be part of the game, record a voice for Swamp and become a part of the madness! Details can be found on the Audio Games forum: http://is.gd/48WlmE #Swamp A podcast has also been made if you're more inclined to listening to a human guide you through the process. The podcast contains examples straight from the game to help you come up with phrases. Find the podcast here: http://is.gd/gwMLPC The due-date is December 31st, but the earlier, the better. We really need more female voices, so ladies, please try and contribute! I'll be looking forward to hearing your entry. Re: [Audyssey] infocom collection: files
I don't have Arthur, sorry. I wasn't overly intrigued, so never really looked for it. I forget the website, but there was a decent source that provided a lot of the materials I have in an accessable form (I believe I used a mind forever voyaging as muy search), it might be worthwhile to do a quick google search for them. - Original Message - From: Thomas Ward thomasward1...@gmail.com To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Date sent: Fri, 30 Nov 2012 13:12:54 -0500 Subject: Re: [Audyssey] infocom collection: files Hi John, Send them along. Re: [Audyssey] Monopoly version 9
Hi Jim, I just played your Monopoly game for the first time in a long time. I remember you saying that you had to remove the list of boards from the game but I thought you planned to add that feature in a future version. As your board file maker brings up the list, why doesn't the game itself? I planned to update the New York City board adding the National September 11 Memorial Museum and the new One World Trade Center building.
