Hi, Keith,

Maxiaids should have adaptive Chess boards and black pieces identified by
points on the top of the pieces. Also each piece, black and white, has a
post on their underside that fits into the hole in the center of each
square. The black squares are raised about a fourth of an inch.

I believe the Chess set was $35 or $40 last time I purchased that board
from them last year.

Hi Michael.

I don't believe the display changes for what weapons you have, but if you
check your inventory you will see them. I suspect this is because more
weapons to buy will become available later.

As for how to reload, well you shoould've been told that in the tutorial,
you just swipe downwards.

Re: [Audyssey] chesss for the blind

2013-01-10 Thread dark

Hi Kieth.

Yes, that is true. The touch move rule, ie, you must play a peace you touch
doesn't obviously apply if your blind.

I recently bought a tactile chess set from the rnib but was really irritated
with it, since the black and white squares are coloured more like light
brown and slightly darker brown! This irritated me since it means not only
can I not use any of my vision at all to considder the board as well as my
tactile senses, but also it makes the set useless for playing against
sighted people. This however is not the standard, and just a result of the
rnib being their usual cruddy selves.

As regards notation, well if you try any computer chess game such as BG
chess challenge from spoonbill, or the two Kchess games they will also use
it, so knowing about it might be helpfull generally.

Basically the squares are numbered vertically from 1 to 8, with row 1 being
where the white peaces start, and are lettered across the board from a to e.
So the white rooks are on a1 and h1, the black rooks on a8 and h8, white
king is on e1, the black king on e8 etc.

You can then describe peaces by where they move, for instance the standard
royal opay opening (sorry about spelling), is e2 e4, e7/e5, knight c3 etc.

This is also how people can play postal chess, and describe the moves,
indeed when I used to play in vi tournaments each person had their own board
and would tell the other person the move, since it was easier than having
two blind people trying to use the same board at the same time.

Hth.

Re: [Audyssey] looking for a game called jungle fever

2013-01-10 Thread dark

Hi Nicol.

Firstly, no you don't create a story. The jungle fever game was a modified
trivia game in which you had to answer various general knolidge questions
and make choices as you went through a jungle.

The game was produced by the Uk audio network, http://www.pressakey.net/ I
believe at one time it was sold by them on cd, but this stopped several
years ago. When I played the game it was being hosted by them as a freely
playable online game among their various other trivia games such as merlin's
mystery quiz, Hexagon and the dayly puzzles, however they changed what
games they hosted a few years ago and now host different ones, for details
see the audiogames.net page on the uk audio network.

Hope this answers your question.

In fairness, while jungle fever was okay as a free game, I don't think it
was worth the 25 usd that it cost to buy on cd, not given the number of
questions in the game, then again this was the same company who tried to
flog the goalball one on one game for 25 usd so that wasn't surprising.

Personally I'm glad they've now gone back to just free online stuff and
accepting donations since it seems more appropriate to what they are
offering.

Re: [Audyssey] Alter Aeon help

2013-01-10 Thread Michael Taboada

Hi,
Note: SPOILERS below, if you don't want the quest to be done for you, DO NOT
READ!

5
4
3
2
1

Ok, so you have to get to the bottom level, behind the door you might have
found that doesn't open .You have to find a wand in the northeast corner of
the cave, which is on one of the slaver demons. Then you use it on an
archway on that top level. That will transport you to the place behind the
door. Once you do that, you have to go through the house, killing
everything on the way if possible, and then go down to the next level. Note
that there will be a place where a priestess is chanting or something,
you'll have to kill her, move an altar or some such, go behind it and get
some coins, as you'll need them later on. Then you'll wander around a bit,
then find a stairway guarded by two fiery demons. Go down it, and continue
going down . Eventually you'll get to a small graveyard, but that isn't the
place you need yet. You unlock a door in the graveyard with a key I think
you got in the place behind the door, then go in. That will put you in a
maze of tombstones. Basically you type touch tombstone, and the exits around
you shift. You walk around keep touching tombstones when possible, and
eventually you'll get to the end. You'll find a fairy man, and you give him
a token to take you across. Then you'll be in the graveyard. From there you
just follow the path around until you get to the end, where the grave keeper
is. Kill him, and get what you're supposed to.

Note that I have not given explicit instructions partly because I haven't
done this quest in a while, and partly as to not spoil the entire quest too
much. Also note that there are side quests and interesting things to do that
I'm going to let you find out on your own, mainly for the same reasons.

Hth,
-Michael.

2013-01-10 Thread michael barnes

That doesn't have anything to do with the question.
I didn't ask about gameplay, I had asked about the shop.
Here is the question again.
I bought the weapon pack, however it still shows that I can buy it again.
Why does it shows that I can buy the weapons again?
I also was wondering how to get more grenades, ammo aswell?
I know how to reload I was wondering if there is a way to get more grenades?
Because after I reload the grenade it doesn't work.

Does anyone know how to refill the grenades?
How do you refill the ammo for the guns?
Does anyone know if you go through different levels?

Hey, Charles.
As a matter of fact I do look up the information about different things
before I ask.
However The trainer does not talk about the shop, nor does it mention
anything about if you can only use the granade more then once doing gameplay.
As a matter of fact I stated that I did play the game before asking on
this list.
After Dark had sxplain the concept of the weapon shop still showing up
I had agree that it made sense on why I would still see it.
As a matter of fact when I reload the granade it doesn't let me use the
granade.
So before biting someone head off you should read the whole message and
then ask them what they mean just incase they may be asking the question wrong.

I was not asking how to reload the weapons because that is explain in the game.
I was just asking if instead of being able to shoot a gun seven times
if there is a way to shoot it more before reloading the gun?

I will say I didn't ask the question correctly and for that I am sorry.

Hi,
Note: SPOILERS below, if you don't want the quest to be done for you, DO NOT
READ!

Hth,
-Michael.

Re: [Audyssey] chesss for the blind

2013-01-10 Thread Charles Rivard
I recommend taking the correspondence courses from the Hadley School for the
Blind. I believe the URL is

www.hadley.edu

With the course, Chess For Beginners, you get all of the study materials
in either braille, audio cassette, or on a cartridge for use in the Library
of Congress digital Talking Book player. Also, you get a chess set adapted
for blind players. After completing this 6 lesson course with a patient and
knowledgeable instructor at your own learning pace, the study materials and
chess set are yours to keep. And it is absolutely free of charge. Then you
can move on to the course on Tactics and Strategies. These 2 courses are
actually a book written by a Grandmaster, adapted for study by blind people
by Hadley. HTH.,

Hi Kieth.

Yes, that is true. The touch move rule, ie, you must play a peace you
touch doesn't obviously apply if your blind.

I recently bought a tactile chess set from the rnib but was really
irritated with it, since the black and white squares are coloured more
like light brown and slightly darker brown! This irritated me since it
means not only can I not use any of my vision at all to considder the
board as well as my tactile senses, but also it makes the set useless for
playing against sighted people. This however is not the standard, and just
a result of the rnib being their usual cruddy selves.

As regards notation, well if you try any computer chess game such as BG
chess challenge from spoonbill, or the two Kchess games they will also use
it, so knowing about it might be helpfull generally.

Basically the squares are numbered vertically from 1 to 8, with row 1
being where the white peaces start, and are lettered across the board from
a to e. So the white rooks are on a1 and h1, the black rooks on a8 and
h8, white king is on e1, the black king on e8 etc.

You can then describe peaces by where they move, for instance the standard
royal opay opening (sorry about spelling), is e2 e4, e7/e5, knight c3 etc.

This is also how people can play postal chess, and describe the moves,
indeed when I used to play in vi tournaments each person had their own
board and would tell the other person the move, since it was easier than
having two blind people trying to use the same board at the same time.

Hth.

Beware the grue!

dark.

Contact me privately if you interested.

In order to learn how the squares and pieces are named, looking for those
keywords on Google: Chess algebric notation.

Hi tom.

Unfortunately, it is due to the government's tendency to farm most
everything out to the rnib, who have pretty one sided ideas on blind people
and what they should be doing. while other agencies exist, it's the rnib
that gets the big press and government funding.

As to changing things, well with the way the government at the moment are
pretty much privatizing everything and farming responsability out to
charities, (most of which pretty much function as businesses as the Rnib
does), it's unlikely there will be a change any time soon, indeed when i
myself attempted to work for the Rnib on book selection I was ignored.

anyone in the Uk I'd recommend to pretty much sort anything you want
yourself.

Hi Dark,
About the blind UK design chess board being two shades of brown.
A simple use of a black marker would give the black squares more contrast.
The blind chess boards for sale here set the black squares a bit higher than
the white so tactually you can tell the color by which is higher.

Re: [Audyssey] chesss for the blind

2013-01-10 Thread dark

Hi Phil.

the chess set does indeed have the black squares higher, however where as
previous tactile chess sets i've used have had a good colour scheme as well
as the tactile features thus making them perfect to play with sighted
players or for people with some degree of vision, I was rather disappointed
with this latest model provided by the rnib, since it seems pretty silly to
me to make a chess set that is so exclusively useable only for totally blind
players and not for everyone else.

I know others do exist and I might well have to buy one in the future, I was
just quite narked with the Rnib over this particular stupidity.

Subject: Re: [Audyssey] chesss for the blind

Hi Dark,

available to citizens of the U.S. and its a shame that the U.K.
doesn't get off its apathy and do something about V.I. accessibility. .
They need a good kick up their backside as it sounds like the U.K.
agencies are worthless and you guys need to begin starting protest
rallies or something.

Hi charls.

The only problem with that is all of the library of congress stuff is
only

available in the us, indeed as I've commented before the situation of
accessible books in the Uk is infinitely worse, I also do not know if the
hadly school you mention would do courses over seas.

This is actually one reason why when I played for the braile chess
association over hear they were so concerned that very few junior players
(under 21), were playing any sort of chess, since the opportunities to
learn

it just weren't there for visually impared kids either in terms of
materials

or anything else, and even with adults, only people who had played Chess
before they went blind really joined the association.

Beware the grue!

Dark.
