Re: [Audyssey] Starbase orion
fully agree here! when I got my iPhone, I really didn't think I would ever find any games that I would like enough to actually use a touch screen with. but I was very wrong, and have now got at least 80 of them. the only type I am not very fond of, are ones that work better with voice over turned off, as I have heard about people doing this and for some strange reason not being able to get it to come back on afterwards, owing to the triple click setting changing, seemingly of it's own accord. I have found the iPhone games great for killing time on train journeys for example. I wonder if you've been looking at the right phone games? Beware the grue! [Audyssey] Iphone games was: Re: Starbase orion
Well Simon ironically I was the other way around. I was interested in the Iphone mostly for playing games when i heard about games like king of dragon pass, which is one reason I like the variety of games available. I've sinse found some other things the Iphone is good for as well, for example I now find it a handy device for music and books once I found a way around silly Apple's folder structure with Itunes, however games was what I was first interested in and generally i haven't been disappointed, and I agree it's great for train journies (I played through most of zombi exidous last week on a train). Regarding turning vo off I've never had any issues with that myself, and it'd be a shame to miss out on games like papasangre, codename cygnas or sixth sense. Btw, I'm dark tenor on game center if you want to add me. The only thing that slightly irritates me with the Iphone and games, is that where on a pc it was reasonably easy to predict when looking over games what would and would not be accessible, on the iphone there are many games and game types that should! be accessible but for some reason aren't. I'm talking about things like text adventures, gamebooks and textual rpgs. Indeed it sort of irritates me that though there are innumerable gamebooks on the Iphone and people like tinman games producing more of them, none of these are accessible, or at least they weren't when I tried them which just seems insane and unfortunately I don't know what it is that means the text of say a gamebook is inaccessible to vo since while it's relatively easy to tel a developer hay those buttons aren't labeled there is often no logical reason I can see why text doesn't display properly, after all it's not as if the text in say the tinman gamebooks is graphical emulated on screen stuff. Apart from that though I'm really liking the Iphone and the games situation on it is just getting better. Beware the grue! Re: [Audyssey] X-Sight interactive gone?
Hi Dark: Yes, I know. I merely wanted to point out that there are all kinds of reasons some of them in the mainstream market as well as the audio games market where the price for a product suddenly changes and someone who paid for a product can find it a lot cheaper later on. That is something that just happens and there is no reason in the world to get angry or upset about it. However, I agree with you whole heartedly that releasing a game as freeware will make it available to everyone in the future which trumps any other concern. Since we have very few audio games compared to mainstream gamers it is a crying shame when a developer takes a game off the market and decides not to release it as freeware which basically makes one less game available for blind gamers. For us it is a bit of a big deal as there aren't exactly a hundred other options to choose from. In a case like X-Wheel it really is one of two games of its kind. Freedom Wheel of Fortune is free, but it is also buggy and a piece of junk. X-Wheel was a far better product, but is no longer available. So if we want a decent Wheel of Fortune game I guess someone else will have to reinvent the wheel and write a new game just to replace the one Damien took off the market. So not releasing a game as freeware has a pretty big impact on a blind gamers options which I think should be taken into consideration when and where possible. Cheers! On 2/12/14, dark d...@xgam.org wrote: Well tome that happens with audio games too. I bought king of dragon pass for 10 usd, however it's frequently knocked down in price, indeed A dark room that I bought for the Iphone before christmas is now on a %50 sale, and an online game like Core exiles has regular item sales each month where various things are money off. I agree that developers using abandon ware is similar from the perspective of someone who has bought the game, but it also serves another purpose, since it makes the game available to people in the future where as otherwise it would not be which for me trumps most any other concern. I can think of a good few cases, Eamon, supaplex, the Turrican games on the amiga, legend of the green dragon etc where it is the fact that games are freely available that has let them carry on, be ported to other systems and even in some cases still be developed sometimes decades after their initial release. Re: [Audyssey] shadow line issues
Yes, everything should work correctly. If not, then you may need to try installing the Japanese language pack through windows update or the app store, depending on which version you're using. And last, try switching your system locale to Japanese to see if the game works. I have no problems with these games because I have my computer set to have a Japanese locale, and that hasn't screwed anything up that I can't fix.
