Hi Sarah.

No idea I'm afrad especially if the nvda curser isn't working, however you
might want to look at the kerkerkruip topic in the new releases room on
audiogames.net and ask there, sinse i know people over there are playing
kerkerkruip with nvda and so could probably give you more precise
information.

All the best,

Hi Dark,

the NVDA-cursor doesn't work either, both in Filfre and Winglulx.
And with Sapi I would get the text read, but I can't review the screen
either, for example to find out the spelling of a word or something.

No, that's both not what I want. And I have no idea what's going wrong
with NVDA here. That's really annoying.

One, when I go to www.audyssey.org and click on the accessible games

when I click on the contact us link. Am I doing something worong or
is there somewhere else Icould get the list of accessible games?
Another question is does anyone know of any accessible murder mystery
type games that are accessible? Preferably free, but will pay if
necessary. Also, does anyone know of any accessible Phase Ten games

Sorry for the long email.

Re: [Audyssey] Shades of doom level 8

2014-04-20 Thread Shaun Everiss

Shooting the equipment is mostly not a problem but you will need it
for navigation purposes.
Saying that there are cases where I have found it hard not to destroy
something and then do something else in as well.

Some stuff will kill you but will be in the line of your fire anyway.
After playing a few times you should know what you need to do to kill
a monster.
Counting your shots is probably the only way to have a chance and
being carefull weather you lewer the enemy to you or away from equipment.

Though this does not always work since some have a patrol root.
The other way is if you find a place you know there will be a few
enemies hidden or in range of you and you can get a way not effected
by disruptions you can try a grenade.

ie level2 then you may try to chuck one.
However there are cases where when they see you they will move to get
out your line of fire.

In which case target the closest one, hose and then the others and just hope.
In all situations where this has happened though, I have never had to
worry about destroying mission critical equipment.
In some levels like 8, shooting the machines can save you some time
in killing one monster, or if you do hit multipul enemies which can
happen that is also good to.
Sadly with my xp machine offline until I decide what to do with it,
gaming won't be on my list.

Hi tom.

If those computer consoles, radios and other noises weren't there I would
find shades much harder to play sinse as I said it's just those sorts of
landmarks I use.

I also make use of the coordinates system. If for example I want to know
which side of the large pillered hallway I'm on in stage 2, I use the
coordinates.

I also use direction facing not to try and orientate myself with where I am
in terms of a larger space, but to determine certain places to remember. For
example if I remember rightly the corridor in stage 3 with the gelatinous
blob and the toilet is a long passage heading east and most of the passages
of it go south.

This is funnily enough exactly how I navigate in real life, indeed sinse
I've recently got the blind square ap for my Iphone which will tell me what
I am passing in shop terms, what direction I'm going and what street I'm on
it's quite remarkable how many of the skills translate across.

Then again, I dread to think what fiendish mazes David has built into shades
2.0 so I might end up having to eat my words on navigation :D.

Re: [Audyssey] Shades of doom level 8

2014-04-20 Thread Shaun Everiss

Never used them to be honest.
If you play enough you shouldn't need them.
On most of the levels bar 1 there shouldn'tneed to be a backtracking
going on, you just have to play them right.

I won't spoil it for you because its dead easy.
Remember that some 2-3 passage junctions can lead to different orders
off things depending on your style, there is no wrong way.

Well the cyborgs are pretty much just like the mutant humans, accept that
they're faster and tougher, so you deal with them in pretty much the same
way.

With the grenades, well they work rather like jim's golf game, you hear a
rising tone and the higher it is, the further you will chuck them. The
problem is if they hit a wall and rebound they'll hit you and kill you
instantly, so you need to be careful.

Generally I only use the grenades when for example I'm in a very long
corridor. Actually it's one of the rather fun ways to deal with those
gelatinus blobs and cyborgs on stage two where the toilet is, get them to
chase you up that long passage then turn round and chuck them a grenade :D.

beware the grue!

If I remember correctly (I've not played shades for a while), the equipment
is mostly at the sides of the room rather than the center, while the
creatures will be coming forward to get you, so unless your specifically
targeting it or going rambo with your gun your unlikely to hit it.

Are you waiting for a complete firing solution on the creatures? That is
waiting until you get the correct blip sound, rather than the higher pitched
bleeps which indicate your closer but not quite there yet.

Personally what I do with combat, when I've got creatures coming at me who
need to be close to attack is back up and side step so that I increase the
distance they need to travel to get me, then quickly turn and blast them.
For creatures who can attack at a distance and are mostly stationary I tend
to try and get into an optimal firing position outside of where they can hit
me if I can.

Usually i don't shoot until I have a firing solution on a creature so that I
can be sure not to waste too much amo.

Beware the grue!

Hi Dacia,

Welcome to the list.

As for Audyssey.org we are currently in the progress of rewriting and
updating the website which is why you are getting the page under
construction message. That said, there are plenty of other resources
you can go to get similar information.

To begin with try Audiogames.net. They have a huge database of text
based and audio based games for the blind and low vision which is
probably the best place to start looking for accessible games.

Another resource is PCsgames.net also has a list of various accessible
games which is also a good starting place if you are new to audio
gaming in general.

Another excellent resource is 7-128.com has an annual list of the top
25 websites for blind gamers. I suggest you check that out as it might
help you get on your way to playing some good accessible games.

As far as murder mysteries etc goes I suggest you try the In specter
Cindy games by 7128 Software. I don't know if all their games are
murder mysteries, but Death Nell is a murder mystery.

As far as Phase 10 goes I am not aware of any accessible computer
versions, but I haven't really kept up with accessible card games.

2014-04-20 Thread Michael Taboada

Welcome Dacia!
I believe Thomas is working on adding content to the audyssey site, but
I imagine alot of it is still under construction, as you are seeing.
That being said, a great place to get a list of games is at
audiogames.net. That has a list on the homepage that you can choose a
game and go to see its details. There is also a forum
(forum.audiogames.net) that will allow you to talk about the game on
there, assuming you don't want to talk on the audyssey list.
As for accessible murder mysteries, I believe 7-128 software has some. I
think their website is 7128.com.

Hth and again, welcome!

available and to share any I know of. I have a couple of questions.
One, when I go to www.audyssey.org and click on the accessible games
link then click on the various links for the platforms I keep getting
a we're sorry this part is under construction. I get the same message
when I click on the contact us link. Am I doing something worong or
is there somewhere else Icould get the list of accessible games?
Another question is does anyone know of any accessible murder mystery
type games that are accessible? Preferably free, but will pay if
necessary. Also, does anyone know of any accessible Phase Ten games
for online? I know there is the braille card game because I have it.
Sorry for the long email.

thanks,

Dacia
