If it hadn't been mentioned previously, this game is for iDevices. It's more like driving an obstacle course by sound than an actual racing game. This let a couple of my own missiles strike hope, and let me rain in hits with my particle cannons, but Morgan's shield was so huge, that the fight seemed to go on forever, even when his shield was registering zero he was able to launche a missile. But with one last lucky shut morgan's shield finally collapsed! I have to say that is one of the most awsome rpg battles I've had for some considderable time, it even sounds like something out of startrek. I was not initially too sure about the s5 invasion combat system, because though the random hand of skills was a good idea, at the same time it seemed nearly impossible to take out a bigger ship than yours, and not infrequently, one the same class as yours as well. Well yes and no. Earlier this year Niels bauer released a new version of Smugglers 5, called smugglers 5 invasion. It is set after the smugglers 5 cessession war was won by the federation and involves a new conflict with only two factions, the Federation and an alien race called the Jaukath. It plays slightly differently to s5 cesession, and has different background stories on the planets as well as other differences like different ships to encounter. It also has dlc, downloadable content, which are extra encounters and stories you can download for the game at a very small extra charge, sort of like miniature addons. If you enjoy s5 I'd definitely recommend it, indeed if you enjoy s5 I'd very much recommend updating to the latest version which introduces several new elements. Beware the grue! Hi Lori. that one was for a general gaming podcast called electronic soop, who were doing a special on access, I was asked to do it by Barry Ellis from Oneswitch.org.uk, sort of the audiogames.net for motion impared gamers. I thought I had a copy on sendspace but the ss goblins seem to have made away with it, I'll see about uploading a new one next week. You are right I really should do more podcasts about games because they are rather fun. The principle reason I don't is that it involves basically having to rearrange my quadrophonic speakers to a position where they'll be audible through the sterreo mikes on my Rowland recorder, but I really should just do this rather than keep thinking oh it's quite a pest Beware the grue! The recording is still up, you can download it from sendspace on http://www.sendspace.com/file/lqucj4 It is rather out of date sinse we're now on smugglers 5, also I don't believe smugglers 3 is possible to buy stand alone anymore unless you buy the full we love smugglers bundle which comes with smugglers 1-4, (3, 4 and 1 are accessible but 2 annoyingly isn't due to unlabled images). I didn't pay anything for it. I played enough to unlock all the levels. It clearly states that it's for kids. (It's rated 4+). So since it was free, I tried it out and had a bit of fun with it. Hi Leo, All you have to do is click on the link and download the file using your web browser. I am afraid I fail to see the problem. You do have a web browser on that computer don't you? As far as e-mailing it as an attachment that is unlikely. The mp3 is around 60 MB or so and would be a bit large to attach to an e-mail. That's why services like Sendspace, Rapidshare, Dropbox, etc exist so you can use your web browser to download the file from a sharing site rather than get it via an attachment. Cheers! I am afraid I fail to see the problem. You do have a web browser on that computer don't you? As far as e-mailing it as an attachment that is unlikely. The mp3 is around 60 MB or so and would be a bit large to attach to an e-mail. That's why services like Sendspace, Rapidshare, Dropbox, etc exist so you can use your web browser to download the file from a sharing site rather than get it via an attachment. Cheers! Well I don't know about Entombed, that would be quite a task given how long the game is. I fancy doing some explanetory podcasts first, maybe one for smugglers 5 and one for star traders on Ios. I'd also like to do a recording of one of the inspector cindy games from 7-128 sinse those are good fun, but they don't unfortunately have demos anymore. We'll see if I remain so resolved when i get back to my flat (and my desktop with all the games and my rowland recorder), next week, though whether I can resist spending time with smugglers 5 invasion I'm not sure :D. Well Bryan, s3 was a nice game in it's way, but very slow and could get severely aimless when you were flying around from place to place looking for vague trade deals. Combat was also not that interesting either, heck you only had the one missile and once you shot it you had to run off and buy a new one. S4 streamlined the direction of the game, made things far less aimless and added a huge amount of stuff like professions and a propper end game, but the problem is you could get very stuck in the middle sinse you always had the same combat movves and doing them over and over again against the same on5 or 6 ship types got fairly grindy. One of the major goals of 5 was to break the mould and have the game continue to be interesting. The first thing that got added to do this were the exploration stories on each planet, basically mini gamebook adventures. The second was random events in combat like solar flairs, mines or time distortions which changed how things worked. the third and last, and the one that majorly shook things up as of the S5 invasion expantion was the random skills system, which has you with a different set of skills each turn from your over all deck and requires you to use them strategically. I'd not have suggested you try any of the previous smugglers games if sf isn't your thing, but for being purely fun rpgs s5 and s5 invasion work extremely well. Beware the grue! Hello Ishan, As far as software goes there are a number of choices. A lot depends on if you want free or commercial, and how much control you want over editing. If you want a free editor that has decent editing I'd suggest Audacity which has a bit of a learning curve but can get the job done. If you don't mind spending a bit of money Goldwave is one of the best audio editors out there for recording and editing podcasts. Another suggestion is Total Recorder which has some nice plugins for recording what you here if you are running modern Windows without the ability to record directly from the soundcard. Cheers! Hmm. What you hear is included with operating systems above XP? I figured it would have been done away with. And I didn't know about the addons. I might be migrating to Windows 7 soon, but not sure.
