Re: [Audyssey] Bug in the Sarah Game.

2015-11-18 Thread Phil Vlasak

Lori,
It has been a while since I programmed the game.
The diselutionment charm only keeps the creatures from seeing you or
attacking you. If you bump into them, they will still scare you and take
your energy.

There is a document in the folder that lists all the magic items and where
they are located.

I think I named it either
scw-walk-through.txt
or
Sarah-walk-through.txt
On the dungeon level There is a total of 5 Goals:
potion1, potion3, cloak, headless hat, broom1
spoiler
space
Potions classroom, potion
Potion professor's office, old potions book
Potion professor's private store, potion
dungeon, invisibility cloak
Slytherin common room, broom, headless hat

Hi guys, I've been playing the Sarah game and when I was in the dungens,
although I have the potions book, the broom and the cloak, the game still
tells me there are magical objects to find. What am I missing? I was
wondering if the broom cupboard should have a broom, but if so it's not
showing up.

Also I've noticed 2 of the 3 statues on the ground floor seem to be bugged
as they don't lead anywhere when I go through them. I hit the w key and
I'm told I'm either in a class room, or the ground floor corridor, but I
can't go anywhere and have to apperate out.

There was also a wierd thing when I cast the diselutionment charm while in
the large dungen with all the food. I had Sarah say the spell, and got
passed nick and Peeves no problem, but then Bins showed up on the staires
and seemed to see through it as I lost some energy, that's a really freeky
voice to hear at midnight on a cold winter's night by the way lol. The
charm was still active as I could hear the music still playing, but he
still got me. :( Is anyone else having these issues? Thanks from Lori.

 Hi,
I can hear no speech in the menus in the Sarah game from PCS.
I guess I need some older components like sapi4 to play Sarah in Windows

 10. Has anyone else successfully played this game in newer Windows
 versions than XP?

 Thanks,

You are given a phrase which is out of order and you need to
 rearrange it
within a given time limit. You do this by removing physical balls
 from the
game itself and then replacing them back in the order you choose.

Each ball represents a word or part of the phrase and yes, the game
 does
speak the phrase that you have created by moving the balls around.

So it is pretty funny when you mess it up. (as you are very likely
 to do at
 least once in a session)

I am not sure if the game is still made but I believe it is.

To Marty’s question, as you probably already know, there are ‘Say

games on the App Store, but I do not know whether they are
 accessible or
 not.

 Have a great night All!

There are programs that will allow you to access the bios from your
operating system. Award was the leader in this field back in the dos
days. I know other bios manufacturers also have programs that will allow
access to the bios settings after the machine is booted. You can even
save/restore your bios to/from backups you've saved on the computer.
Admittedly, I no longer use windows, so gaining access to the bios doesn't
concern me as much as it used to, since under linux I can usually force
settings via command-line parameters to the loading kernel when absolutely
necessary, so I don't really need to access bios these days (except when I
build a new machine, but there's usually sighted assistance for those
times) Do a search of google, and I'm certain you'll find programs that
will help you gain access to bios settings for various motherboards. And,
since overclocking your cpu can help with gaming, I think this topic fits
right in with audyssey.

On Tue, 17 Nov 2015, john wrote:

Given current technology, BIOS cannot be accessible. The reason for this is

The only theoretical way to cause bios to be accessible would be if the
manufacturer specifically wrote a screen reader for that individual BIOS and
motherboard, but somehow I doubt that happened.
We're going a bit far from gaming here though, so maybe this topic could go
off-list?

Also, I forgot to add in my last email that, out of the box, the FKeys perform
functions like raising/lowering brightness, muting sound, volume up/down, etc.
This was the way it was on my HP laptop that died. On that laptop, I could
press the function key along with any of the FKeys to not use the media or
brightness controls. I may leave them as they are for a while on the Lenovo. If
I set my NVDA key to caps lock, it shouldn't be too hard. I couldn't do this on
my HP, but it might be possible; I tried to get the FKeys to function normally
when pressed on their own, but when pressed with function, do their
media/brightness things. I could either turned off or turn it on. I couldn't
switch the rolls around.

Thanks,
Ari

Re: [Audyssey] got my new solid state drive in

2015-11-18 Thread john
I would imagine overclocking would be especially risky if you're using these programs - a traditional test of the stability of an overclocked processor is whether it manages to boot the OS without hanging or otherwise throwing a fit. This is less
likely nowadays because CPUS are designed to avoid this kind of hanging, but I'd still take it slow (or perhaps I should say will be taking it slow - this promises lots of potential experiments).

One thing which I thought was cool was that the English version had

Danielle et al;

I actually just purchased one on Amazon this morning in light of our

The one I got was about $32 USD and there is a gold edition for $64
or so. I have no idea what the difference is and could not glean it
from the description. So, since I know I enjoy the original, I went
for that one.

So there are a number of sellers on Amazon which still do sell the game.

If anyone needs a linkie I am more than happy to post one but it
should be really easy to find.

I just searched for ‘Say What game’ and several hits came up.

Cheers!

we all enjoyed it. If the link is still in working order somebody did

You are given a phrase which is out of order and you need to

within a given time limit. You do this by removing physical balls

Each ball represents a word or part of the phrase and yes, the game

speak the phrase that you have created by moving the balls around.

So it is pretty funny when you mess it up. (as you are very likely

I am not sure if the game is still made but I believe it is.

To Marty’s question, as you probably already know, there are ‘Say

[Audyssey] miriani combat

2015-11-18 Thread David Bartling
Hi,
I am a new player to miriani, and I wanted to try combat. I am trying
to defeat the drones in a simulator but they always are faster and by
the time I've registered that they've moved away, they are able to hit
me and I just can't figure out how to fire at them. I know about the
focus and scan commands, but if any other players have tips, that
would beawesome. Unfortutately, I don't have a computer to play it so
helpful sounds are out. I am playing using mudrammer on my phone.
Thanks for any help

This message is wrong in so many ways, but we'll just take the simplest,
because as I said this topic is getting rather off the subject of gaming.
"part of the os". No, no, no. BIOS is *not* part of the OS, because it is
impossible to have an OS running when you're in BIOS. BIOS runs *before* the
OS is even detected.
I suspect you're talking about a configuration utility of some sort, but if
so, you need to be vastly more clear about this, because right now all

Re: [Audyssey] The Game of "Say What"

2015-11-18 Thread dark
I have the English version, it was a christmas present from my parents a few
years ago though how it corresponds to the gold edition I don't know.

It's fun, albeit I found it a little too easy. I actually need to put some
batteries back in mine and give it a go.

One thing which I thought was cool was that the English version had
obviously been done for Britain specifically, so as well as some general
popular phrases like by the power of grayskull (I liked that one), and in
space nobody can hear you scream, it also had some specific ones from Uk
programs like who's line is it anyway or I have a cunning plan :D.

All the best,

Dark.

Danielle et al;

I actually just purchased one on Amazon this morning in light of our
conversation! :)

The one I got was about $32 USD and there is a gold edition for $64 or so.
I have no idea what the difference is and could not glean it from the
description. So, since I know I enjoy the original, I went for that one.

So there are a number of sellers on Amazon which still do sell the game.

If anyone needs a linkie I am more than happy to post one but it should be
really easy to find.

I just searched for ‘Say What game’ and several hits came up.

Cheers!

The balls represent words or phrases and you have to remember the
sentence and try to put the correc balls in each slot. Pretty cool and
we all enjoyed it. If the link is still in working order somebody did
a podcast of It on BlindCoolTech. That is where I heard of it and went
out and got it. What ashamed Larry and his crew aren't doing anymore
podcasts that was my favorite site to visit regularly and learn. I
especially enjoyed the soundseeing tours he and his girlfriend Liz
often did. I don't have it in my possession anymore though. It should
still be made. Let me know if you find it I'd like to get it again!
There are very few off the shelf games for us.

Hi Sharon and Marty,

The

You are given a phrase which is out of order and you need to rearrange it
within a given time limit. You do this by removing physical balls from
the

game itself and then replacing them back in the order you choose.

Each ball represents a word or part of the phrase and yes, the game does
speak the phrase that you have created by moving the balls around.

So it is pretty funny when you mess it up. (as you are very likely to do
at

least once in a session)

I am not sure if the game is still made but I believe it is.

To Marty’s question, as you probably already know, there are ‘Say What’
type

games on the App Store, but I do not know whether they are accessible or
not.

Have a great night All!

[Audyssey] Bug in the Sarah Game.

2015-11-18 Thread loriduncan
Hi guys, I've been playing the Sarah game and when I was in the dungens,
although I have the potions book, the broom and the cloak, the game still
tells me there are magical objects to find. What am I missing? I was
wondering if the broom cupboard should have a broom, but if so it's not
showing up.

Also I've noticed 2 of the 3 statues on the ground floor seem to be bugged
as they don't lead anywhere when I go through them. I hit the w key and I'm
told I'm either in a class room, or the ground floor corridor, but I can't
go anywhere and have to apperate out.

The
charm was still active as I could hear the music still playing, but he still
got me. :( Is anyone else having these issues? Thanks from Lori.

Re: [Audyssey] miriani combat

2015-11-18 Thread Willem Venter
Hi David.
It's been a while since I played Miriani, but here is what I remember.
Ship combat is one of the more enjoyable things in Miriani. When you
are practicing alone though you have to pilot and shoot, which makes
it more tricky.

Before you add drones, practice manual navigation. It is easier to do
combat that way.
After you moved check if where you thought you would end up is
actually where you ended up.

After you mastered that, practice locking onto coords and shooting at
them. You could add another stationary ship as a target.

For combat, go to 3,3,3 and let the drones come to you. any coord
around 3,3,3 is easier to type. Remember that the general weapons have
a range of only 1 coord.
Always keep moving and stay in the area of 3,3,3, but don't be too
predictable in your movement.

Re: [Audyssey] game request: acefire

2015-11-18 Thread john
It looks like the file on sendspace is a zip of the program files folder.
Since this has an uninstall (and because I'm bad at reading their log files
to figure out whether it makes registry changes), would you happen to have
the original installer? If not that's fine - its probably fine to just
repackage the game - but it would be nice to have, if possible.

Hi,
Sorry, I don't have an installer for this. I was sort of wondering
myself why the readme made reference to one. I can't even remember where
I got this particular package from, so can't say whether it's the latest
version even, although I doubt it, seeing as 0.1 is usually a pretty
early beta.

Re: [Audyssey] swamp tips and tricks?

2015-11-18 Thread loriduncan
Hi, first off wellcome to Swamp. We're a really nice bunch on there, well
most of us are, so there's always someone to ask for on the spot help if you
need it. Are you using headphones to play Swamp? If so, go into Swamp's
main menu and go down to where you hear it say speaker test and hit enter to
check your hearing sounds properly on the left and the right. This is very
important. Once that's done hit escape and you're back in the game. To get
out of the safe zone on map 1, you just face west and walk forward, but if
you're lost in the safe zone, then press your up arrow key which should turn
on the forward range radar, and when the beeps sound quietly a head of you
it means the way a head is clear to walk, but if the beep is slightly louder
and more of a chirping sound, then it means there's a wall. The safe zone
exit is on the west wall though, and also you should hear the safe zone
guard at the entrence shouting things like "Survivers this way!" and so on.
Once your steps change from carpet to grass that's you outside.

As for shooting, once out of the sz when you hear a zombie growling or their
steps, turn your mouse gentley towards the sound, so if he's to your right
gentley turn the mouse that way, or if you're playing on a laptop, swipe
your finger to the right on the track pad. When his steps or growls are
centred, ie in the middle of your headphones or speakers, then move forward
with the right mouse button, or if he's really close to you then just fire
your gun with the left mouse button. If you don't hit him then ajust your
aim with the mouse again, and also side-step with a and d, a takes you a
step left, and d takes you a step right respectively. You should hear the
zombie's death cry and it's corps hitting the ground. Remember after each
kill to reload your gun with r if possible, that way you won't be taken
unawares. Try to operate your turning action with the 1 hand when in a
fight, so that your trigger finger can always be in place.

As for buildings, they are tricky to get to know at first, but a good way to
learn the layout is to go into the maps in offline mode and set both zombies
and loot to 0 so you have complete peace while walking around. Perhaps
start by exploring the gas station as it's the smallest building on map 1
and doesn't have as many iles as Kaimart.

Finally, if you go to audiogames.net or to the Swamp homepage and look at
the game's info, you should see a few really good audio reviews and
walkthroughs which cover moving around inside buildings. They are a bit out
dated, but the basics such as movement shooting and navigating are all the
same.

Hope this helps, I'm Lori on Swamp if you need to contact me, or you can
reply off list too if you need anymore help. Good luck and happy shooting.

From Lori.

Subject: [Audyssey] swamp tips and tricks?

Hi all,

Ok so am daz on swamp.

I need a bit of help with swamp.

Am having issues with shooting things properly and also with navigating
inside buildings. Sometimes I find it really difficult to get out of the sz.

When it comes to shooting, I am finding it difficult to judge when to pull
the trigger. Sometimes I walk around swinging the axe until I swipe
something. But like I say I don't want to keep doing that I would much
rather be able to shoot properly.

What sorts of tips/tricks could people suggest for me to become more
proficient here?

Thanks all.

Hmmm I had no idea that anyone else had done a configeration for their
boards.
Toshiba's ones work in dos you had to go realmode, in windows 95 there
were programs in latest windows 7 and 8 they were a control panel.
I'd imagine that they would evolve with the times, not sure if the
universal app of toshiba's stuff would be accessable but who knows.
I havn't used that many updaters for anything bar my toshiba and or asus
and both seemed ok though once started things would crawl a lot for a
while till they were done.
The rest of the stuff I did do required a bit of sight to upload a
datafile but that was about it.

I havn't used any programs on desktops.
In most of the newer units you only need to go bios to change what the
function key does and check everything is detected and it usually is,
and or overclock things.
in the older boxes you could increase shared memmory to the video card,
turn on ando off bits and bobs set passwords etc.
In most cases especially with modern systems you shouldn't need to
bother about this though I must admit I'd like to fiddle one day.

This is quite fascinating; I think I'm going to be doing some of those

As long as you can get passed their malware asus stuff is generally
stable
and rock solid.
I havn't used their laptops but their desktop graphics and main boards

and I have had no issue with either from a hardware standpoint.
Some del units seem good to though I still go toshiba just because of the

They also use standard hardware, for sound etc these days.

However their printers especially their web enabled ones are quite good.

yeah blindcooltech site has gone down though to be honest the origional
casts have gone down ages before that.

cbt is a good place to get casts.
Their people are in all the test programs and have modded/ jail broken/
cracked all their stuff and know what is what.

So they are trustwerthy people.
pg13.tk is another one for games.
draggon apps and pmsworld or the lead devs in both are chilling in this,
games are played in real time and every mistake is made.

Ofcause all seriousness is out the window.
THere is a lot of swaring in there to and its real time.
the casts are almost like you are playing the games controling the
players as it were and I like them for that reason.

Hi.

Trenton, who's a really useful fellow on the audiogames.net forum for coming
up with random stuff (like the star traders game), has pointed me to a new
archive of all the bct podcasts:

There are also newer podcasts there, indeed he suggested I submit some of
