Well am on the non pvp server. I was playing the other one for a while I must admit. I stumbled across this game about a month ago and submitted it to whitestick. But I never new about the non player kill option. I kept getting flattened once per day and it cost me a fortune in credits to rebuild my fleets. Although I need to get a bit better at designing weapons systems etc lol. I'm daz on there. Actually I may have spelled it dazz. How have they made it work like that though is it done in a similar way to ce? Hi Darren. You can register for the pvp server on http://www.spaceo.net/register_pve.php or you can go into the account settings and type your player name. I happened to notice when logging in a listbox that listed server names, and one listed was so pve, aka player vs environment, so when I sent a mail to the devs asking about a fix to the quadrent map I also asked about whether it was possible to signup for this server since I equally don't find pvp the least bit interesting either. Regarding how it works, well it's pretty much the exact same game as on the standard server, it just disallows attacking of other players so you can concentrate on doing missions, building up resources and fighting off aliens. I don't think there are any major changes, it's not a fully pve focused game like ce (which I also need to get back to since I've not played it for months), but it's fun none the less. Interesting that you let Tom lorimer know about it, I'm a big fan of that site and directory, and indeed if the other games turn out accessible (especially astro galaxy), I'll pass the information on to him as well.. Hi Anouke. You need to actually register on the so pve server. You can do this either by logging into your account on the main server and writing your player id (the number after your name), into the box and then changing the dropdown to so pve, or if it's easier just to create a new account you can go to http://www.spaceo.net/register_pve.php and register straight off. Hi Anouke. When you go to the main space odyssey page and use the log in link, as well as the text boxes for username and password there is a dropdown for server. Hi Dark, Have you tried the so elite server?I wonder what is special about htat. I have tried reading the guide but on the mac it does not seem to display correctly. Hi Anouke. I'm not sure on difference in other servers since unfortunately there isn't a server list written out anywhere. I suspect So Wars is the oposite of So Pve, being a totally pvp focused server (perhaps it has no missions or alien attacks), and I know Seao is running a mod of Space Odyssey called Sea odyssey which seems exactly the same game but with naval ships instead of space ships in a sort of fantasy pirate setting. The others though I don't know. usually elite servers in these sorts of games are for especially experienced veteran players and have more harsh consequences or less easy ways out, like perhaps there are less resources around or missions give lower rewards or something, but as I said I'm guessing here. Still, it was the Pve server that caught my attention for obvious reasons me disliking having my games interfered with by other players' attacks, and not being bothered about attacking myself. No idea on the guide display i'm afraid, it just appears a standard webpage to me with internet explorer. Beware the Grue! Well darren I've not unfortunately found a server list so I'm not sure what any of the servers are. Ther'es one called So wars which I assume is pvp exclusive, (likely that one has few to no missions), there's the so pve one, there's one describing itself as so elite, and then there is Sea Odyssey, which seems essentially a nautical mod of the game with fleets of sailing ships instead of space ships. regarding resets, well yes and no. there are no formal rounds like some other games have every month or six months or whatever, however there is a way to redistribute all in game resources, which occurs when several players (who choose to), in the top 100 all decide to build and activate the doomsday device, though should any of them fall out of the top 100 the device will stop. Remember though in Space Odyssey it is your ship blueprints, l;evels of scientific researc and your commander level that dictate advancements, and you won't lose any of those even if the device is activated, though you might need to rebuild your ships and stations, Heck, I'm not sure even if you lose your credits or just your actual physical resources. then again this doesn't seem to happen very often at all, indeed I suspect it's more an economic stop gap measure than a game reset.
