You're right. It is handheld. You'll have to look at places like Amazon.com.
Homer: Hey, uh, could you go across the street and get me a slice of pizza?
Vender: No pizza. Only Khlav Kalash.

Re: [Audyssey] say what?

2008-01-22 Thread Ken the Crazy
There's a big button on the right--that's start and guess. The button next
to it is mode, toggling between timed mode, guess mode, time mode extreme
where you have only ten seconds to get each one right, and guess mode
extreme where you only get one guess. Above that is the skill button. The
its left is the players button, which toggles between one and five players.
Note: you can't switch skill until you press the button at least once. The
smallest button is the start over button, and you hold it down till it says
starting over.

I love Say What. It's a great game. Obviously, though, I have sucky memory
skills under pressure. unlimited guess mode is where it's at for me.

I was surprised at justhow many phrases I knew, though. At least I feel
accomplished on one level of the game. *grin*

Re: [Audyssey] say what?

2007-12-30 Thread dark
About a hundred I think, but even if the same phrase comes up twice, it's
stil a new challenge as the words might be scrambled in a different way,
also it will change if your playing in guess or time mode.

imho the only trouble with replay is the fact that you can only score a
maximum of five, and there are only two modes, with extreme versions of
each.

I got one as well, (mr. Clause is a generous fellow).

There are actually five balls, and several different modes to the game.

time mode, where you get as many guesses as you like within a limited
 time,
and guess mode where you have a limited number of guesses, as well as
extreme time and guess modes (10 seconds per round, or one guess).

You can also play with multiple players one after another as well.

the only down side to the game I can see, is that in the two easier
settings, where you get one or two bits of the phrase set correctly at
 the
start for you (one or two balls in the right place), There is no audio
 clue
as to which balls ar right and which are not, sinse the one or two
 balls
already in the correct order light up to signify that they should not
 be
 moved.

Of course, on the hardest (and also the default) setting, none of the
 balls
are lit, and they all need to be moved (the entire phraise is
 scrambled).
this just means that slightly more persistance is required from a
 totally
blind gamer, sinse they do not have the oppertunity to practice with
 the
 two
easier settings. then again though, the real challenge is playing on
 the
default hard setting anyway, and of course sinse it is the default
 setting,
you don't have to worry about changing it.

On the pluss side, all the modes and menues are entirely auditory, and
 the
buttons are easy to distinguish, making it easy to opperate.

I might well do a Blind cool tech pod cast review of this game when i
 get
back to my flat and my r09.

 Grue beware the!

are giving the choice of how many players (1 to 5) then, press the start

2007-12-27 Thread Ken the Crazy
Each ball represents part of a phrase. You take the balls out of the game
and put them back in a different order, so if the game says two heads are
better than one, the ball on the left represents two heads. the next ball
represents are then the third ball represents better and so on--but
that's in the right order. When it starts, the first ball might be one,
or are. You have to find the right order.

I'm still missing something about this game. If it's further down in my
inbox because the question has been answered on the list, nobody has to
respond. What do the balls have to do with unscrambling a phrase?
 Thanks.

You can also play with multiple players one after another as well.

the only down side to the game I can see, is that in the two easier
settings, where you get one or two bits of the phrase set correctly at
 the
start for you (one or two balls in the right place), There is no audio
 clue
as to which balls ar right and which are not, sinse the one or two balls
already in the correct order light up to signify that they should not be
 moved.

Of course, on the hardest (and also the default) setting, none of the
 balls
are lit, and they all need to be moved (the entire phraise is scrambled).
this just means that slightly more persistance is required from a totally
blind gamer, sinse they do not have the oppertunity to practice with the
 two
easier settings. then again though, the real challenge is playing on the
default hard setting anyway, and of course sinse it is the default
 setting,
you don't have to worry about changing it.

On the pluss side, all the modes and menues are entirely auditory, and
 the
buttons are easy to distinguish, making it easy to opperate.

I might well do a Blind cool tech pod cast review of this game when i get
back to my flat and my r09.

 Grue beware the!

 Dark.

Hello ron.

After christmas I could try having a word with Dolphin, sinse I've had a
very good working relationship with them for about 12 years, and know them

have already looked into things yourself.

I won't get onto my wrant about the Rnib here, but I doubt contacting them

organizations involved with Vi computer users who would be helpful, such as
the I.t. end of loughboroughr collidge, though there are probably other list
members who are in a much better position to get in touch with them than me.

finally, as a general comment, i was really disappointed that there was
nothing at all about accessible games at the Site village assistive tech
exhibition last year. the only company I recognized there was Code factory,
and they had none of their games on show at all.

Site village is where I personally go to find out about interesting tech (I
found out about the sonic ultracane there recently), and I deffinately think
it would be a good place both to distribute the magazine, and for any devs
who could possibly make it, a good way of making people in the Uk more aware

I got the Say What game for Christmas--early!
It's a great game, and totally accessible.
It has three skill levels (easy, medium, and hard,) and four games--timed
mode, guess mode, timed extreme mode and guess extreme mode. When you
start, you can select up to four players (I think it's four,) and the
skill level and game. Then, you press start--a big round button very easy
 to differentiate from the rest.
There are hundreds of phrases, and depending on how well you do the
difficulty increases. On the easy skill level it gives you more time in
the next round if you missed one. Usually, there are five rounds unless
there's a tie between two players. In timed mode, the time starts at 30
and goes down 5 seconds per round. In guess mode, you get 5 guesses and
they decrease by 1 per round. That's not a whole lot of time and guesses
 to unscramble that phrase.
Yeah, I know, you're just dying to ask me, How do you play it!
There are five balls--well, half balls anyway. You have to keep the game
put up in a safe place so you don't lose any of them. Anyway, when you
start a scrambled phrase is spoken--and if it comes from a song it is
often sung. Then, you rearrange the balls until you get them in the right
order. I don't mean that you simply press ball-shaped buttons, you
physically take balls off and put them in new places until you've got it
right. It takes time, but if you're stuck there's a hint button you can
press as well. The hints tell you where the phrase came from--music, pop
 culture, movies and so on.
This game is a great game to play alone, but an even better party game
provided you can keep all the balls together and on the game. The only
thing I would change is that the quicker you solve the puzzle, the more
points you would get. In the game, you always get one point per
unscrambled phrase. My seven-year-old daughter hates hand-held electronic
games. I guess they bore her, but she asked my wife to get this for her
for Christmas before I ever told her about it, so it's sure to be
something you can share with the whole family.
You can get it at just about anywhere in the states, and there's a sight
called firebox.com that sells it too--just google it.
You can put this in the mag if you want too--I know there are lots of
readers who aren't on the mailing list, and I want everybody to know about
all the games that are accessible.
 Enjoy the game!

 Hi Ken

Okay I kind of get the idea but what do the balls have to do with it?
Sorry if this is dense. Had the in-laws over and some wine. *grin*

 Subject: [Audyssey] Say What!

I got the Say What game for Christmas--early!
It's a great game, and totally accessible.
It has three skill levels (easy, medium, and hard,) and four games--timed
mode, guess mode, timed extreme mode and guess extreme mode. When you
start, you can select up to four players (I think it's four,) and the
 skill
level and game. Then, you press start--a big round button very easy to
 differentiate from the rest.
There are hundreds of phrases, and depending on how well you do the
difficulty increases. On the easy skill level it gives you more time in
 the
next round if you missed one. Usually, there are five rounds unless
 there's
a tie between two players. In timed mode, the time starts at 30 and goes
down 5 seconds per round. In guess mode, you get 5 guesses and they
decrease by 1 per round. That's not a whole lot of time and guesses to
 unscramble that phrase.
Yeah, I know, you're just dying to ask me, How do you play it!
There are five balls--well, half balls anyway. You have to keep the game
put up in a safe place so you don't lose any of them. Anyway, when you
start a scrambled phrase is spoken--and if it comes from a song it is
 often
sung. Then, you rearrange the balls until you get them in the right
 order.
I don't mean that you simply press ball-shaped buttons, you physically
 take
balls off and put them in new places until you've got it right. It takes
time, but if you're stuck there's a hint button you can press a
s well. The hints tell you where the phrase came from--music, pop
 culture,
 movies and so on.
This game is a great game to play alone, but an even better party game
provided you can keep all the balls together and on the game. The only
thing I would change is that the quicker you solve the puzzle, the more
points you would get. In the game, you always get one point per
 unscrambled
phrase. My seven-year-old daughter hates hand-held electronic games. I
guess they bore her, but she asked my wife to get this for her for
 Christmas
before I ever told her about it, so it's sure to be something you can
 share with the whole family.

[Audyssey] say what

2007-12-10 Thread Ken the Crazy
Have any of you tried the say what game yet? My wife looked at it for me for
Christmas, (I think she got it too,) and she's pretty sure it's accessible.
