Subject: [Audyssey] some problems related to games in java

Hi Hi List,

I'd like to report a problem I've been having; I'd like to see if any of
you

have some tips as to how to resolve this. I first noticed this when I got
ScienceInvasion; the sound of the Cyclist just sounded weird; it wasn't
looping, there was a most definitely noticeable break from one loop to the
next. Then I heard Muhammed playing it, and it sounded right as rain.
ThenI

tried Showdown. What do you know? Same problem. Just a few minutes ago I
tried Dark Destroyer; same problem. It would appear that only games
written

in java are giving me this problem. Anyone have a possible solution to
this?

Best Regards,

Hayden

Re: [Audyssey] some problems related to games in java

2010-12-19 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Hayden,

Science Invasion, Showdown, and in fact all of the early PB Games were
written in Javascript not Java. Java and Javascript, despite their
names, are not the same programming language. So please don't confuse
people by incorrectly identifying these games as Java based when they
are not.

The reason I'm pointing this out is the 7128 games are all written in
Java and work very well on PC and Mac. There was even a time when I
considered moving Genesis 3D to Java as well, but didn't do to lack of
some features I personally wanted like Joystick support at the time.
However, just wanted to say Java is a very viable language for games
and I know this was a mistake we don't want to scare VI gamers off of
Java based games just because of games written in Javascript. I feel
it is important to set the record straight, and point out that
comparing Java to Javascript is saying an apple is a type of orange.

Smile.

2010-12-19 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Hayden,

I know. I've seen this problem with some of the PB Games as well, and
unfortunately I don't know of any fix. I think it is just one of the
many flaws of Philip using a scripting language like Javascript for
games rather than something like C++. Javascript was never intended
for this type of program, and is mainly used as web scripts and
sometimes used as application scripts. Definitely wasn't entended to
write full fledged programs.

Smile.

Hi,
The oddest thing about this whole thing is that said looping problems
weren't there when I first tried them. Ah, well...
