That is true, but I believe that is how the game works, since I think ship
types are a little more flexible than in smugglers, so you trade in your
ship instead of getting an upgrade to your sales etc.

No not yet. Another thing I found, is that when you buy an upgrade and
install it, you can't buy any improvement to the upgrade. In other words,
once you have bought that upgrade no other upgrades show up. So I'm
wondering if there is a way of selling that upgrade to get an improved
version?

That is it, however note that the cargo you find is of the very

Hi Shane.

Looting ships works very much the same way that exploring, harvesting,
or

indeed trading do.

When you hit the loot cargo button you will be presented with a list of
cargo types. flicking through them you'll find something like
Water-fuel

10
0, Lux food 5 0, crystals 0 6 etc.

Each of the names of the goods such as water-fuel or crystals is a
button

to
click on, and the two numbers after refer to what is in your ship's
hold

and
what is available to take. Just so long as you remember the first
number
after each button as you flick through is the quantity in your hold
and

the
second is the amount you can take you should be fine.

To actually do the looting, it's very similar to buying stuff. You hit
the
button and then have a screen with the numbers in hold and available,
and

a
slider, this is where what I was saying earlier about the sliders comes
into
play. set the slider to %100, you grab everything, set it to %0, you
drop

everything. So if you have 6 lux food in your ship and there is 4
available to take the slider will start at %60 since you currently have
%60
of the available amount. bang it up to %100 to grab the other four.

the only other thing to note is that sometimes, when you have four or
less
of a given good available, simply flicking up and down the slider won't
do

it. In these situations you need to double tap on the slider and then
slide
your finger across the screen. Go all the way right to set to %100, or
all

the way left to set to %0.

Actually I've taken to using the double tap and slide method myself
regularly, since it is a far quicker way to instantly set a slider to
one

end or the other and most of the time I want to take everything or sell
everything.

Btw, the fastest way of looting is to simply have more space in your
ship's
cargo hold than the max available lootable cargo, then you can just
hit

the
take max button to grab the lot, though this only shows up when
looting

ships and not when exploring or harvesting unfortunately.

Hth.

Hi dark,

You've obviously done exploring, what's the benefit to it? apart from
finding the odd bit of cargo to sell?

Hi Shane.

Looting ships works very much the same way that exploring, harvesting, or
indeed trading do.

When you hit the loot cargo button you will be presented with a list of
cargo types. flicking through them you'll find something like Water-fuel
10
0, Lux food 5 0, crystals 0 6 etc.

Each of the names of the goods such as water-fuel or crystals is a button
to
click on, and the two numbers after refer to what is in your ship's hold
and
what is available to take. Just so long as you remember the first number
after each button as you flick through is the quantity in your hold and
the
second is the amount you can take you should be fine.

To actually do the looting, it's very similar to buying stuff. You hit
the

button and then have a screen with the numbers in hold and available, and
a
slider, this is where what I was saying earlier about the sliders comes
into
play. set the slider to %100, you grab everything, set it to %0, you drop

Actually I've taken to using the double tap and slide method myself
regularly, since it is a far quicker way to instantly set a slider to one
end or the other and most of the time I want to take everything or sell
everything.

Btw, the fastest way of looting is to simply have more space in your
ship's
cargo hold than the max available lootable cargo, then you can just hit
the
take max button to grab the lot, though this only shows up when
looting

ships and not when exploring or harvesting unfortunately.

Hth.

Beware the Grue!

Dark.

No not yet. Another thing I found, is that when you buy an upgrade and install
it, you can't buy any improvement to the upgrade. In other words, once you have
bought that upgrade no other upgrades show up. So I'm wondering if there is a
way of selling that upgrade to get an improved version?

Just had some news back from the developer.

he stated that he will indeed improve the nav screen to show faction
 info,
apparently he tried this but it's not been %100 successful with vo, but
 he
asks people to bare with him as it's a work in progress. He also will
 fix
the conflict screen so it's possible to see what wars are with whom,
 since
at the moment while you can see what conflicts are happening, you can't
 tell

 who they are between.

The one thing he does ask is could people please give 5 * reviews and
ratings to help him make the game more visible in the ap store, which
 is
 fair enough.

 All the best,

Well so far, I am an elite titan. I have managed to bank over 1 million credit.
Although, and I'm finding it much harder to find leadership. I have a pretty
good one at the moment, but to find a much better one well it's hard. Does
anybody know what the current limits of the map are? I could get as far as
. But if there's anything further out, I am unable to find it. Certainly
not with machines all rumours. You'll have to excuse me, I am using dictation.

Firstly, Yes I've noticed the combat music issue. Secondly, to be honest
planet's actual coordinates don't really matter in the game, since once
you've selected a planet from the nav screen it'll tell you the distance and

that's really all you need to know, THOUGH i AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE
POINT THAT THEY FIX THE NAV SCREEN TO SHOW FACTIONS FOR EACH PLANET.

With the sliders, well they're a little different from the ones in Kodp
where you have to slide slowly. Double tap and slide fully to the right for

%100, ie, almost with your finger to the edge of the display, or fully to
the left for %0. The these days I actually use that method with most
things even when I could use the flick gesture flicking seems disabled
when you have less than 4 total items, though as I said double tap and slide

 I find quicker.

Regarding their other games, I do believe they plan ios ports and they have

said they'll considder access perhaps for their cyber knights or age of
piracy game, though unfortunately their only other Ios title, heroes of
steel is apparently heavily graphical and real time.

One advantage though is if they're porting to Ios directly they can fix
access at the same time, which also makes fixing star traders access a good

investment and is another reason it'd be good if people could 5 star rate
the game too to give them some encouragement and let them know Vi users
would like games like this accessible, since while there are! Vi users of
android, there are far more on Iphone (lets not get into the debate as to
why or wherefore just acept that is the current state of play), so there is

more potential exposure for a developer in access for Iphone games,
 especially Rpgs.

Btw, another interesting fact is apparently a lot of sighted users didn't
like the graphical touch map either and prefer the navigator, which is a
very nice case of access adjustements doing general good for everyone.

First of all, in the contracts screen, it lists the planets'
locations, but in the nav screen it doesn't.

Second, the music appears to be stuck for me. The android version has
several different music, but the iOS version seems stuck on the combat
music after you begin the game.

Have you guys seen all the games on Android? There are so many by
these guys. Unfortunately, I think only Star Traders really works, but
there are a plenty. I wish they'd port those to iOS for us.

Also, one thing to consider. I have a friend who recently reported
that Voiceover doesn't always let you increment and decrement the
sliders with a swipe gesture. This is true. Just double tap and hold
and slide slowly. It's a VO thing, not a game thing.

It's got a nav helper accessed through the menue which gives you a list of
planets to travel to, which works well.

I'm still figuring out the game and how everything works, but I like what
I've seen thus far, certainly worth the three dolars for the elite version,
although there is a free version as well (I bought the elite straight off
since this is just my sort of game).

The game is sort of similar to smugglers or core exiles in that you fly
around with a spaceship, there are a number of factions who have wars, you
have a crew and engage in space combat. The difference is that the universe
is rather like the dune books by Frank herbert, galactic houses and
politics along with sindicates, there are lots of different things to do,
exploring planets, lots of ship combat, boarding and capturing ships and a
lot more, indeed I'm only just starting on the game myself.

one thing that I do like the look of is that rather than you just grinding
away at the same resource trading, you actually need to research where
things are needed for yourself, which makes the game quite unique, as does
the fact that while there ar elots of ships and upgrades to buy and awards
to earn, the game is pretty open ended.

It looks highly interesting and I'd advise any rpg fans to give it a try.

Hi Shane.
Well as to the paid stuff being in ap, yes and no.

You can get the free version of star traders from the ap store and then pay
for the upgrade to Star traders Elite, or you can download and pay for star

since the game is hardly expensive and it's certainly my sort of game.

You can also make an in ap purchice to unlock the items which normally only

Re: [Audyssey] star traders rpg now accessible on Ios

2014-01-30 Thread dark

Hi Shane.

Looting ships works very much the same way that exploring, harvesting, or
indeed trading do.

When you hit the loot cargo button you will be presented with a list of
cargo types. flicking through them you'll find something like Water-fuel 10
0, Lux food 5 0, crystals 0 6 etc.

Each of the names of the goods such as water-fuel or crystals is a button to
click on, and the two numbers after refer to what is in your ship's hold and
what is available to take. Just so long as you remember the first number
after each button as you flick through is the quantity in your hold and the
second is the amount you can take you should be fine.

To actually do the looting, it's very similar to buying stuff. You hit the
button and then have a screen with the numbers in hold and available, and a
slider, this is where what I was saying earlier about the sliders comes into
play. set the slider to %100, you grab everything, set it to %0, you drop
everything. So if you have 6 lux food in your ship and there is 4
available to take the slider will start at %60 since you currently have %60
of the available amount. bang it up to %100 to grab the other four.

the only other thing to note is that sometimes, when you have four or less
of a given good available, simply flicking up and down the slider won't do
it. In these situations you need to double tap on the slider and then slide
your finger across the screen. Go all the way right to set to %100, or all
the way left to set to %0.

Actually I've taken to using the double tap and slide method myself
regularly, since it is a far quicker way to instantly set a slider to one
end or the other and most of the time I want to take everything or sell
everything.

Btw, the fastest way of looting is to simply have more space in your ship's
cargo hold than the max available lootable cargo, then you can just hit the
take max button to grab the lot, though this only shows up when looting
ships and not when exploring or harvesting unfortunately.

Hi all.
I have found a workaround, not ideal, but manageable to help in working out
distances for locations on the navlist.
Unfortunately it does involve a bit of faffing, as you have to select one of
the locations and then at the top of your screen where it has the date it will
have the distance to that location.
Hope this is helpful and I have explained it okay.

Hi Darren.

That is it, however note that the cargo you find is of the very expensive
sort, weapons, electronics and artifacts. The more crew you commit the more
you will find although you also risk having your crew killed by nasty things
on the planets as well, so it's something of a gamble albeit a rather good
one especially if you have a trade permit so you can sell unrestricted
items.

slider, this is where what I was saying earlier about the sliders comes
into

play. set the slider to %100, you grab everything, set it to %0, you drop
everything. So if you have 6 lux food in your ship and there is 4
available to take the slider will start at %60 since you currently have
%60

of the available amount. bang it up to %100 to grab the other four.

the only other thing to note is that sometimes, when you have four or
less

of a given good available, simply flicking up and down the slider won't do
it. In these situations you need to double tap on the slider and then
slide

your finger across the screen. Go all the way right to set to %100, or all
the way left to set to %0.

Actually I've taken to using the double tap and slide method myself
regularly, since it is a far quicker way to instantly set a slider to one
end or the other and most of the time I want to take everything or sell
everything.

Btw, the fastest way of looting is to simply have more space in your
ship's
cargo hold than the max available lootable cargo, then you can just hit
the

take max button to grab the lot, though this only shows up when looting
ships and not when exploring or harvesting unfortunately.

Hi Darren.

That is it, however note that the cargo you find is of the very expensive
sort, weapons, electronics and artifacts. The more crew you commit the more
you will find although you also risk having your crew killed by nasty things
on the planets as well, so it's something of a gamble albeit a rather good
one especially if you have a trade permit so you can sell unrestricted
items.

Short answer, lots more of everything in the elite version.

I'm not exactly sure of the numbers, but from reading the manual I gather
that the elite version has almost twice as many planets and twice as much
space for them to be in, and about as many again different sorts of rumous,
enemy ship types and ship upgrades to buy, though for a more
comprehensive list you can read the ap description, or the one that appears
on the game's in ap store.

 Hi shanon.

The reason your having issues with the doctor I suspect is due to a miner
point about how the sliders in the game work that also threw me at first,
but once you get it it's quite logical.

Basically the way you buy anything in the game is with the slider. %100 means
transer as much as possible to you, %0 means sell the lot. So, if you've got
3 Metals in your hold and there are 3 standing at the dock, the slider will
begin at %%50, if you want to buy the three from the dock you put it up, if
you want to sell your 3 you put it down.

When there are more than five items to sell, ie, the slider has more than
five positions, you can just flick it, but as you've probably found when
there's only say one position you can't. For example if you've got one unit
of health to recover from the doctor the slider can only be at %0 or %100.

In actual fact however, the slider is a long control that goes left to right
horizontally right across the display, so all you need to do to select it is
double tap and hold then swipe your finger right across the display, right if
you want to go up, and left if you want to go down, (just bare in mind you
have to swipe quite a long distance across the screen for it to work).

This probably sounds very clunky when I explain it like this, but once I got
the knack myself I now find I use the double tap and slide left or right
method instead of flicking even with larger sliders since it's much quicker.

 Hope this makes sense.

As regards the ships, some I believe are unlocks, and it's possible that
some are either faction or profession specific but I'm not %100 certain on
that as i haven't messed about with the different ship types that much yet.

things in the exchange halls, or heal at the doctor. I see 0 percent
adjustable, but I can't change it. When it's at 0 percent, the complete
 transaction button doesn't appear.

Also, when creating a new game, it shows a list of starting ships. However,
if you don't choose the V-Victus, the new game isn't created.

If anyone can offer tips, I'd be grateful.

I'm having trouble completing contracts. I keep getting contracts to

That is it, however note that the cargo you find is of the very expensive

You hit the
button and then have a screen with the numbers in hold and available, and
 a
slider, this is where what I was saying earlier about the sliders comes
 into
play. set the slider to %100, you grab everything, set it to %0, you drop

 Hth.

asks people to bare with him as it's a work in progress. He also will fix
the conflict screen so it's possible to see what wars are with whom, since
at the moment while you can see what conflicts are happening, you can't tell

The one thing he does ask is could people please give 5 * reviews and

fair enough.

All the best,

[Audyssey] star traders rpg now accessible on Ios

2014-01-29 Thread dark
Just for people on this list, as of yesterday Star traders rpg from trees
brothers games is now accessible on Ios and can be found on the ap store. It's
got a nav helper accessed through the menue which gives you a list of planets
to travel to, which works well.

I'm still figuring out the game and how everything works, but I like what I've

The game is sort of similar to smugglers or core exiles in that you fly around
with a spaceship, there are a number of factions who have wars, you have a crew
and engage in space combat. The difference is that the universe is rather like
the dune books by Frank herbert, galactic houses and politics along with
sindicates, there are lots of different things to do, exploring planets, lots
of ship combat, boarding and capturing ships and a lot more, indeed I'm only
just starting on the game myself.

one thing that I do like the look of is that rather than you just grinding
away at the same resource trading, you actually need to research where things
are needed for yourself, which makes the game quite unique, as does the fact
that while there ar elots of ships and upgrades to buy and awards to earn, the
game is pretty open ended.

It looks highly interesting and I'd advise any rpg fans to give it a try.

Beware the grue!

Re: [Audyssey] star traders rpg now accessible on Ios

2014-01-29 Thread dark

Hi Darren.

I agree, particularly because I've not been able to get Ce to play properly
with safari on my Iphone.

I think there are supposed to be something like 200 planets in the elite
version, which means lots of places to go. The only problem I'm having at
the moment with the map is that it only shows the names of planets, not how
far away they are or who they belong to, meaning I fly off to do some
exploring, then suddenly realize I'm crossing half the galaxy! that is a
little frustrating and I've not found a way around it, indeed at the
moment my crew are getting very cross since I'm stuck in the middle of deep
space and am out of everything.

Other than that issue though things are great, I like the universe and the
events, although again it is a little irritating to be told something like
dark age technology was found on Ironhill and then have absolutely no
idea where the iron hell that planet is! :d.

On the other hand I do like the way the game is focused more on open ended
wandering around and doing different things strategically than grinding,
even the ship upgrades are fairly open to interpreatation.

I'm hoping Trees brothers will also considder adding access changes to some
of their other games too, since they make various rpg type things from
cyberpunk warriors to high seas piracy.

Beware the grue!

Hi dark,

It really is good isn't it. I haven't explored that much. I've mainly been
trying to get my rank up. How big do you think the map is? So far i have
gone out as far as 20 18. Its about time that there was a space game on
ios that we can play.

Just for people on this list, as of yesterday Star traders rpg from trees
brothers games is now accessible on Ios and can be found on the ap store.
It's got a nav helper accessed through the menue which gives you a list of
planets to travel to, which works well.

I'm still figuring out the game and how everything works, but I like what
I've seen thus far, certainly worth the three dolars for the elite
version, although there is a free version as well (I bought the elite
straight off since this is just my sort of game).

The game is sort of similar to smugglers or core exiles in that you fly
around with a spaceship, there are a number of factions who have wars, you
have a crew and engage in space combat. The difference is that the
universe is rather like the dune books by Frank herbert, galactic houses
and politics along with sindicates, there are lots of different things
to do, exploring planets, lots of ship combat, boarding and capturing
ships and a lot more, indeed I'm only just starting on the game myself.

one thing that I do like the look of is that rather than you just
grinding away at the same resource trading, you actually need to research
where things are needed for yourself, which makes the game quite unique,
as does the fact that while there ar elots of ships and upgrades to buy
and awards to earn, the game is pretty open ended.

It looks highly interesting and I'd advise any rpg fans to give it a try.

Beware the grue!

Re: [Audyssey] star traders rpg now accessible on Ios

2014-01-29 Thread dark

Hi Richard.

Once your docked at a planet, there on the screen with the bridge button
and contracts button there will be a menue button with a hint that says
zoom out. this cycles between showing the two buttons to get to the urban
center and wilds and the play button for traveling in your ship, (they're
labeled st hud urban, st hud wilds ad st hud play with correct hints), and a
button to show the list of planets.

it's labeled st hud legend but the hint will tell you what it is.

So, the process is hit the menue button, then hit the st hud legend button.

Unfortunately telling where those planets are is another matter, as I've
said, but at least finding the helper is easy enough.

hth.

Can you tell me how to find this nav helper that has a list of planets? I

2014-01-29 Thread dark

Your welcome Shannon.

If you like Smugglers and core exiles as I do, you'll enjoy the game,
though the setting is rather different from either since it's set in a
universe rather like the Dune series by frank herbert.

Even if you haven't played either of those two games, if you like rpgs and
sf stratogy type games you should give this a try.

It's got a nav helper accessed through the menue which gives you a list of

I'm still figuring out the game and how everything works, but I like
 what
I've seen thus far, certainly worth the three dolars for the elite
 version,
although there is a free version as well (I bought the elite straight off
since this is just my sort of game).

The game is sort of similar to smugglers or core exiles in that you fly
around with a spaceship, there are a number of factions who have wars, you
have a crew and engage in space combat. The difference is that the
 universe
is rather like the dune books by Frank herbert, galactic houses and
politics along with sindicates, there are lots of different things to
 do,
exploring planets, lots of ship combat, boarding and capturing ships and

 a
lot more, indeed I'm only just starting on the game myself.

one thing that I do like the look of is that rather than you just
grinding away at the same resource trading, you actually need to research
where things are needed for yourself, which makes the game quite unique,
 as
does the fact that while there ar elots of ships and upgrades to buy and
awards to earn, the game is pretty open ended.

It looks highly interesting and I'd advise any rpg fans to give it a try.

Yup it does have a few rough edges I agree but it's come on a very long way
though. trese brothers have done a really good job in making it work so far
that's for sure. so a few real positive reviews on the app store I think is
way in order.

Okay, I made a miner mistake there. When the manual talked about awards and
achievements I sort of assumed they were game center ones since they look
very much like the style of achievements Kodp has, but no, they're just
internal to the game.

Speaking of rough edges, I'm curious about how we're supposed to trade things
in the exchange halls, or heal at the doctor. I see 0 percent adjustable, but I
can't change it. When it's at 0 percent, the complete transaction button
doesn't appear.

Also, when creating a new game, it shows a list of starting ships. However, if
you don't choose the V-Victus, the new game isn't created.

If anyone can offer tips, I'd be grateful.

The game is sort of similar to smugglers or core exiles in that you fly

 universe
is rather like the dune books by Frank herbert, galactic houses and
politics along with sindicates, there are lots of different things to
 do,
exploring planets, lots of ship combat, boarding and capturing ships and

 a
lot more, indeed I'm only just starting on the game myself.

one thing that I do like the look of is that rather than you just
grinding away at the same resource trading, you actually need to research
where things are needed for yourself, which makes the game quite unique,
 as
does the fact that while there ar elots of ships and upgrades to buy and
awards to earn, the game is pretty open ended.

It looks highly interesting and I'd advise any rpg fans to give it a try.

Re: [Audyssey] star traders rpg now accessible on Ios

2014-01-29 Thread dark

Hi shanon.

The reason your having issues with the doctor I suspect is due to a miner
point about how the sliders in the game work that also threw me at first,
but once you get it it's quite logical.

Basically the way you buy anything in the game is with the slider. %100
means transer as much as possible to you, %0 means sell the lot. So, if
you've got 3 Metals in your hold and there are 3 standing at the dock, the
slider will begin at %%50, if you want to buy the three from the dock you
put it up, if you want to sell your 3 you put it down.

When there are more than five items to sell, ie, the slider has more than
five positions, you can just flick it, but as you've probably found when
there's only say one position you can't. For example if you've got one unit
of health to recover from the doctor the slider can only be at %0 or %100.

In actual fact however, the slider is a long control that goes left to right
horizontally right across the display, so all you need to do to select it is
double tap and hold then swipe your finger right across the display, right
if you want to go up, and left if you want to go down, (just bare in mind
you have to swipe quite a long distance across the screen for it to work).

This probably sounds very clunky when I explain it like this, but once I got
the knack myself I now find I use the double tap and slide left or right
method instead of flicking even with larger sliders since it's much
quicker.

Hope this makes sense.

As regards the ships, some I believe are unlocks, and it's possible that
some are either faction or profession specific but I'm not %100 certain on
that as i haven't messed about with the different ship types that much yet.

Speaking of rough edges, I'm curious about how we're supposed to trade
things in the exchange halls, or heal at the doctor. I see 0 percent
adjustable, but I can't change it. When it's at 0 percent, the complete
transaction button doesn't appear.

Also, when creating a new game, it shows a list of starting ships.
However, if you don't choose the V-Victus, the new game isn't created.

If anyone can offer tips, I'd be grateful.

Certainly and absolutely not!

Like lots of Ios games it has game center achievements, but there's no
combat of other people at all, nothing half that boring :D.
