Re: [Audyssey] tips for winning jim's football game

2007-09-17 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Josh,
Are you absolutely sure you want to have me give you some secrets to
playing the football game? I've been playing NFL for along time, and
generally I win 8 or 9 out of every 10 games. Part of it is knowhing
what play to play when, but some of it is just the way the game works.

Keep most of your plays to running plays like end runs or yard rushes.
Don't often try and depend on passes. Passes have a very high degree of
failing.
When you reach the aposing teams 35 yard line or less and you are down
in score kick a field goal. Don't try for a touch down unless you are
certain you can get a good drive going to make it the last 35 yards
which is usually bucking the odds. You'll know when a touch down is
advisable by good field position like if you manage to be with in the
last 15 or 20 yards and you have three or four downs to try and then a
touch down is very likely to try.
Punting is both an offensive and defensive move. You always should punt
the ball on a fourth down if you are still on your side of thfield.
However, there are advantages to punting if you are on the other
teamsside of the field. For example if you are at the other teams 40
yard line, fourth down, punting will allow you to put the other team
very far back on the field, and if you can keep them there the next turn
of the ball will give you good field position. In addition an
interception or fumble on their part will give you good field position
to score as well.

Hi Josh,

This probably isn't going to help, but how I win in football is to try to call
the plays that I think that a real coach would call in a real game of football.
And yes almost always you want to punt or go for a field goal on fourth down.

Re: [Audyssey] speedrunning audiogames.

2007-09-17 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
The trouble here is management. Sure, someone could write up an html
page, or we could skip that and just offer the links as long as the
filenames include the name of the person, the name of the game or
something similar. But how do I know that it's really a game being
uploaded? Call me paranoid, but leaving a free-for-all upload is not my
idea of good security. I would need to think on this a little more.
Perhaps making ftp accounts for those interested and this way we have
some level of tracking. I would not want audyssey.org to be an upload
site for non-game stuff if you know what I mean.

we wouldn't need an html site just a directory with the files in it,
as long as the files are dated thats fine.

Hi Josh,
If you have it you would use the wav out device. Unfortunately, Windows
Vista no longer seams to support the wav out device, and I am still
looking for a realistic solution to the problem.

[Audyssey] Game recording question

2007-09-17 Thread Dark
Hello.

I've heard the recordings by Kelly Sepergia and others, where the game is
played in sterrio and the voice comes out in mono.

I can use my R09 with it's sterrio mikes to record, but this means I have to
play on speakers, which very much limits the amount of games I can reccord. I
could plug my r09 directly into the computer and reccord that way, but then
you'd lose my voice.

is there a way, - as Kelly sepergia and others have seemed to do, to have
both my voice, and my game recording coming out of the computer, with my voice
in mono and the game in sterrio?

I can do the actual recording on the r09, I have a Usb mike to talk through,
and I can plug a pair of headphones into the r09 to be able to play the game.
all I need, is the capacity to have my voice play back along with the game
sounds.

Appologies if I'm putting this a litle weerdly, and other appologies if it's
slightly Ot, but it is for the purpose of putting together decent quality pod
casts about more complex games, so it does have a bearing here.

Beware the Grue!

Dark.

Subject: [Audyssey] dark destroyer

Has anyone been able to beat dark destroyer?
I think its impossible to beat the game. Initially my computer had a much
older mother board, so back then I could easily beat the game with no
ships landing, the ships was coming very slowly so beating the game was a
piece of cake, but now that I upgraded to a 1.7 gb celeron mother board,
 dark destroyer just seems impossible.
 The ships land smuch faster.
And you know what? I feel bad for bragging with my blind friends in south
Africa that I beat dark destroyer, they are all jealous, and now I
 realize
that I only managed to beat the game because I had a slow processor.
Now I don't stand a chance to beat the game.
I think the torgen battle and final fight levels in tj is the same as dark
 destroyer.
I want to rectify a statement that was made on-list long ago.
Someone said that if you play 10 games of dark destroyer, you already
played all the other accessible space games. I don't agree with that,
because in trupenam if the ships comes down instead of raising in
 volume
 they raise in pitch.
I panic a lot if the ship's volume increases, and in trupenam you can
 pick
up randomized special items and you have to avoid moon rocks while in
 dark
destroyer you only have 5 bombs and you can't pick up randomized special
 items.
I know this from listening to a trupenam review.
But I would like to know if anyone managed to beat dd.

Thomas,

Re Window Eyes and the Java Access Bridge.
You are absolutely correct.

I've discussed this with their rep, Clarence Whaley, re our own products,
and our consensus was that I'd have to go out to Fort Wayne and jawbone
with their developers in order to get them to implement the bridge.
Needless to say, this is not going to happen soon.

2007-09-17 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi. All you have to do is set your recording source to mixer or all you
can hear. Then unmute the microphone from the playback controls. If you
use a software synthesizer for your synthesizer it will also be heard,
so you may want to turn it off. Then play the game like normal. Since
your playback microphone setting is unmuted, your voice will be heard as
well as the game itself. The game will be in stereo and the voice will
be mono, assuming you use a regular microphone.
