Well, I'm going to keep watching football on Saturdays. And, although I hate it that regular fans can't go to practices, I agree with the coaches decisions and reasons not to allow fans/press at practice. It's just too distracting to the team. I don't need that spelled out to me every time some reporter chooses to write about closed practices either. Probably some team that can not compete with Florida and needs Florida brought down to their level (or at least make everyone think Florida is cheating like SCUM, FSU, USC, Kiffen, etc) Original Message Subject: [gatortalk] FW: [gatornews] Gatornews from Miami Herald andPalm Beach Post courtesy of JunoGatorFrom: "Oliver Barry" oli...@bobparks.comDate: Wed, July 21, 2010 11:12 amTo: gatortalk@googlegroups.com No, Joe, it couldn’t be that Maurkice is a man of principle while Reggie Bush isn’t. It couldn’t be that UF is a classy program while USC isn’t. Just why is it that there’s no reporter in Miami they could hire who actually likes the Gators? Do they just publish Gator news because they’re required to by someone who has some incriminating evidence against the Herald and they have too? He does ask one good question there at the end. Who is it that is trying to hurt the Gators/Pounceys/Meyer? Oliver Barry CRS,GRI Real Estate Broker Bob Parks Realty 1517 Hunt Club Blvd Gallatin TN 37066 Phone: 615-826-4040 Fax: 615-822-2027 Mobile: 615-972-4239 Joe Goodman’s Gator Clause from the Miami Herald Is Florida Gators center Mike Pouncey going to sit out this season for being Maurkice Pouncey's twin brother? GAINESVILLE -- Let's cut through the fat on this Maurkice Pouncey story. What's the worst thing that could happen to UF if the allegation that Pouncey accepted money fromthe representative of asports agent while still anamateur is proven to be true? First, here's a link to what the Herald learned on Monday. LINK! So,what's the potential end game here?Well, Maurkice Pouncey is expected to turn over information today in an attempt to prove he took nothing. Why would he do this?It seems foolish to me. If I'm Pouncey, I just ignoreit and move on. That's what Reggie Bush did and it worked out for him. But it's not thatsimple in this case. See, Maurkice has a twin brother, Mike, who is still a Gator. Mike Pouncey, an incredible player just like his brother, is expected to start at center this season for the Gators. For UF, proving that Maurkice Pouncey took nothing is basically proving that Mike Pouncey also took nothing. Former players do not have to cooperate with NCAA and UF investigations but current players certainly do. This is a unique circumstance and it will be interesting to see how UF handles it. Being twin star football players, both Maurkice and Mike Pouncey are linked to this story. There's no way around that logic. They have always made choices together and based on each other. Heck, Maurkice Pouncey only agreed to sign with UF until after UF offered his twin brother a scholarship. This is the reasonbehind Maurkice Pouncey and UF trying to prove Maurkice Pouncey's innocence so quickly. If Maurkice is cleared, then Mike is cleared then UF is cleared. If Maurkice is guilty, then Mike is guilty, then UF is guilty then UF will have to vacate its Sugar Bowl win against Cincinnati, thenUF will likely have to hold Mike Pouncey out of games this season. Is it a coincidence that all this news is breaking right before SEC Media Days? Not a chance. Someone is intent on either hurting the Gators, hurting the Pouncey family or both. -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY!1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996),Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY!1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996),Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us

It took a while - a really, really long while - but University of Miami football fans finally know who their coach will be in 2011 and beyond. The same one as the past three seasons. After months -- even years -- of waiting and wondering when and if he would get a contract extension, Randy Shannon has been rewarded with a new four-year contract, the university announced Wednesday night. Shannon was about to enter his final season of the original four-year deal. ``There's no other place I'd rather be than coaching Hurricanes football,'' Shannon said in a statement. ``I'm excited about the momentum we continue to build and our strong recruiting classes. We have dedicated student-athletes and an experienced and committed coaching staff, a strong athletic program and the university leadership's support -- all important components consistent with long-term success.'' The financial terms of the contract were not announced. It is believed Shannon started his first season as the coach in 2007 with a salary approaching $800,000 and made about $1 million in 2009. The Associated Press reported that Shannon's new salary will be ``around the midpoint'' of coaches in the Atlantic Coast Conference. ``I think it's tremendous that we have agreed to a new contract,'' UM athletic director Kirby Hocutt said by phone. ``I couldn't be more excited and pleased with the direction our football program has made and will continue to make under Randy Shannon. There was never any doubt in Randy's mind or my mind that we were not going to be able to get this done. It's a testament to Randy's continued leadership that this was announced on the same day that the NCAA announced that the UM football team's Academic Progress Rate scores in the top-10 percentile in the country. ``Randy, as I've said all along, is going to continue as our football coach. We can now turn all our focus and attention to the summer and upcoming fall.'' Shannon, 44, is 21-17 since taking over the program after Larry Coker was dismissed. He finished 9-4 last season, with the Canes losing to Wisconsin in the Champs Sports Bowl. -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY!1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996),Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY!1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996),Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us

Yep! Whoever would have thought that Miami fans would be happy going 9-4 in a season and losing to an average Big Ten team in their bowl game? Of course, they point to the obvious improvement in his 3 seasons: winning five games in 2007, then seven in 2008 and nine in 2009. I don't know if they are expecting to win eleven games in 2010 or what? It ain't gonna happen! I hate to tell them. Any way... Oliver is right, they won't be a team to worry too much about. We'll have to worry more about the bad Miami P.R. of running up the score more so than can we beat them. :-) From: Oliver Barry oli...@bobparks.com To: gatortalk@googlegroups.com Sent: Thu, May 13, 2010 1:08:14 PM Subject: [gatortalk] FW: [gatornews] Gatornews from Miami Herald and Palm Beach Post courtesy of JunoGator Well, I feel better knowing Randy Shannon will be in Miami for four more years. The Associated Press reported that Shannon 's new salary will be ``around the midpoint'' of coaches in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
