Sometimes an ebuild is posted to as an attachment to the bug - you download it and add it to your local overlay. Thus you may get the updated version before it's available in the Portage tree (some ebuilds are attached to bugs for packages which never become accepted) and you can at least add a works for me comment and encourage the devs by remarking how useful it is to you. And even if you've got nothing new to contribute to the problem, you can vote for bugs that are important to you.

From one of your former posts, it seems that you have problems with the free space on your disk and the fact that k3b doesn't realise that there is not enough free space. Well whether k3b knows it or not, there is 320Gbs of space left. I did some more testing and the drive really doesn't do anything now. Jörg, do you have any recommendations on a really good burner that has few issues with software? I hear that some have software issues and figure I may as well avoid that if I need a new one. Since NEC/Sony - Optiarc is fully owned by Sony conce more than a year and since Sony fired people because made wrong assumptions on their market share, I hae no longer any contact to the manufacturing industry. Dale, Thanks for following up. HOw do you start a new thread? Does anyone know what are the libXxf86dga libXxf86vm libraries as compared to the proto variety? They seem to be the offending packages pulled in by kde-base. The way I read the error messages, to emerge the xorg-server, the above packages need to be gone and the proto variety packages will be than emerged. Dale, Your fix worked, so far so good. Previously, I tried setting the time from KDE and using the date function and both were overridden on re-boot. Re: [gentoo-user] No Mousewheel in X and ctrl-alt-backspace not working
If you are still having trouble with xorg, the best source of error information is the file /var/log/Xorg.0.log, which is created every time you run xorg. Also, the Gento web site has several articles on xorg which can provide additional help, although not all information is in one place. Re: [gentoo-user] Re: xorg 1.9
Nikos, Thanks for the help. My system is looking for the i915 module. Would you know where the module needs to be? Thanks. When the new system did not work, I checked the xorg log (attached) and I thought that the problem was the mode setting. So in the kernel, I enabled the modesetting by default and now the card does not send any signals to the screen at all. I can go back to the old kernel settings. But does anyone know what was the initial problem, and what needs to be done to correct this. Thanks for any advice. You seem to be using kernel 2.6.32. That *might* be the problem. Try 2.6.36. Other than that, the usual stuff applies: Delete your xorg.conf (so that X.Org can automatically configure everything) and make sure you don't have VESAFB enabled in the kernel.

Can someone send me the specific e-mail address to be de listed from the group? Thanks. Dan Blum
