We are using GeoServer 2.7.1.1, sorry I didn't say it sooner. I'll try 
with 2.8 and 2.9, once installed on my test server.

Ok the code to support materialized views natively is indeed in there,
and was added specifically to
support postgresql. But not tests were added to ward against regressions.
The change is also not as recent as I though,
it dates back to 2 years and a half ago.
My guess is that something either in the code changed, and caused the
regression (or the upgraded driver we moved to in the meantime
behaves differently)

I'd open a ticket with a small sql script, just enough to reproduce the
issue

Hi Gabriel,

you can paste a SQL Statement that's aiming on the materialized View. I`m using 
materialized Views in that way, there's no need for building a table.

That's what I wanted to, at first, but the query is really to heavy to be 
on-the-fly via GeoServer. So I have to create this materialized view on postgis 
(8min execution time !!) to build a new layer... maybe this should be a new

Hi Ivan,

I`m using materialized Views in Geoserver by building an SQL-View.
You just have to paste the SELECT Statement in the form behind the link 
"configure SQL View" and it works. But your right they don't appear in the 
normal Featuretype list.
But with the described workaround it works.

[Geoserver-users] PostGIS views not displaying

Hello all,

I have some issues with my connection PostGIS - GeoServer, when it comes 
to Postgis views. I have created many *MATERIALIZED VIEW* with geometry 
or geography fields. These fields can be found in the geometry_ or 
geography_columns views, with the correct projection data.
When I'm visualizing these on QGis, the only issue is due to the lack of 
ID on these views : but I can select a field being unique, so no real issue.


When it comes to GeoServer, I can't see a single table proposed in the 
layers to be published, while all the tables from this database are 
listed. All my tables AND materialized views are in the geometry_ 
geography_comlumns with correct metadata, but only tables are shown when 
choosing tables to be published.


The owner of views is the correct owner for all tables and GeoServer 
link to Postgres. Here are some screenshots.

Do you know how I can deal with this issue? Thanks !!
