[Gimp-user] Text entry-keyboard captured as shortcuts
I don't know how else to express it, but I'm running a fresh install of Gimp 2.7.1. The freshness because I just installed Ubuntu-Studio as a fresh install, so had to install 2.7.1 also freshly. Everything appears to be working except that when I want to enter text, I select the text tool with my mouse pointer, draw a box on the canvas, I can double click in the box, but no insertion cursor appears. Further, if I try to type anything, other tools are highlighted (letter E activates the elipse selection tool, for example). What am I doing wrong? Thanks. Oh, one more thing, how can I enter text the old way instead of using the on canvas option? I've made this selection, but don't remember how I got there. [Gimp-user] Gimp 2.7
SOLVED. Had to run sudo apt-get install libgegl-0.0-0 and that fixed it. Back in business. That's part of what I love about open source. You have a problem, and a little searching reveals the answer. Love it. Sorry guys - newb question I've been trying to fit some text to a path, created the path ok, Layers menu | Text along path seems ok, Path along Selection from Paths dialog seems OK, clicked the eye icon next to my path to hide it ok - the text shows correctly fit with the pink stuff around it but when I export to GIF etc. the text which has been fitted along the path isn't visible - same problem if I display the path ... Am I missing something obvious ? Thanks in advance -- Adam B. [Gimp-user] Gimp 2.7
Ok, I lost my preferences when I installed Ubuntu Studio 9.10, so I need to re-install Gimp 2.7.1. Followed the instructions for compiling/installing as shown on the home page of this forum. Everything seemed to go smoothly, except, when I run the command to start Gimp, nothing happnen. When I navigate to the location where that command says Gimp 2.7 is supposed to reside, that file is not there. What did I do wrong?
